Chapter 12: smartphone
Ben felt in an excellent mood after giving Darnell the beating of his life.
He walked down the streets with a smile, even greeting strangers he encountered along the way.
Ben didn't need to go to the city center to find an open electronics store.
"I guess the early bird gets the worm."
Ben entered the store without wanting to waste time going to the center.
A pretty girl was organizing the shelves. She had a nice face and short black hair with round glasses that for some reason enhanced her beauty.
Ben felt that the glasses made her look prettier and even sexy.
"Good morning." She greeted him as he entered.
"Good morning." Ben replied with a smile.
"Do you need anything?" The girl asked with a professional smile, leaving what she was doing to attend to him.
"Yes." Ben nodded. "I need a smartphone."
"Of course." The girl nodded and gestured for him to follow her down an aisle.
Ben nodded and followed her closely.
The girl was wearing very loose pants and a blouse, so he couldn't admire her figure well.
"These are the smartphones we have." The girl gestured to a shelf with lots of phones of all types.
In his world, he could understand a lot about these issues and terminology, but this world has so many differences that he never set out to learn it all over again.
Ben asked the girl to show him the phones and describe their features so he could choose.
"That's the Zphone 9, it's the latest on the market. The most popular and also the most expensive, it's not really the best but people use it for the brand and its prestige." Ben was surprised when the explanation didn't come from the pretty girl, but rather from the short, chubby boy he had met before. "If you want to have the best smartphone on the market in terms of camera, processing, and memory, I recommend the Trecni 110."
The girl looked at the boy with puzzlement, as did Ben.
"Besides, it only costs 799 argens compared to the Zphone which is worth over 1500." The boy added.
Ben was a bit taken aback by the boy's presence, but his explanation made things easier and he made a gesture to buy it from the girl.
"Thank you."
"No." The boy shook his head. "I have to thank you."
"I already told you it was nothing." Ben shook his head. "I beat him up because I've wanted to do it for a long time and now I have the strength to do it."
"Your reasons don't matter." The boy smiled. "You saved me from a fate worse than death."
"Seriously?" Ben was intrigued. He couldn't understand how a beating could result in a fate worse than death.
"Yes." The boy nodded with persistent fear. "Darnell is scarier than you think and his reputation at school is even worse than Charly's."
"And exactly what would that fate worse than death be?"
The boy hesitated for a second before answering.
" Somehow Darnell found out that I have a very pretty sister." The boy clenched his fists with his teeth clenched. "He wanted me to give him her number and our address."
"You may not know this, but Darnell is well known for raping weak and helpless girls." The boy shuddered just thinking about the possibility and the image of his pretty little sister and a nearly two-meter tall, muscular black guy coming to his mind.
For him, that fate was worse than death.
The innocence of his pretty little sister being stolen by his own bully.
Ben found himself wide-eyed and eager to have beaten the balls of that perverted black guy many more times.
"Here you go!" The girl handed him a bag with his smartphone with a professional smile on her face. "Can I help you with anything else?"
"Yes." Ben smiled as he winked at the girl. "Will you give me your number?"
The girl was surprised for a second before smiling and shaking her head. "I'm sorry, I have a boyfriend."
"That's too bad." Ben shrugged and gave her 900 argens.
The girl looked surprised by the 100 extra argens.
"A tip for you, for your good service."
Ben smiled at her one last time before slapping her on the ass.
Ahhh
[Evil points +50]
Ben watched with dark satisfaction as the girl did nothing more than let out a initial scream of surprise.
There was no anger, no indignation, she just stood there with her face completely red.
'Maybe it's true what they say. Girls like bad boys.' Ben thought to himself.
Ben left the store and the boy followed him like a puppy dog.
"Wow! I admire you!" The boy looked at him with bright eyes and Ben just laughed.
"I haven't even asked your name yet."
"Oh, that's right! My name is Dilan." The boy adjusted his backpack and nodded. "Dilan Baners. And you?"
"If you go to the same school, you already know my name." Ben looked into the distance. "My name is Benjamin Clay but you can just call me Ben."
"Are you Benjamin Clay? Aren't you supposed to be a normie?" Dilan asked curiously.
"I was." Ben smiled with his hands in his pockets. "I was!"
They walked for a good while until Ben broke the silence.
"I guess you're not going to school."
"No." Dilan shook his head. "Even though you knocked out Darnell, his friends are still there."
"Don't you have a long-term solution? I won't always be there for you, nor is it something I really want to do." Ben was brutally honest with the boy. "I can't be protecting you when they are more and even Charly is about to cross the intermediate range."
Dilan lowered his head with depression and a bit of desperation. He obviously had no plan to deal with Darnell and his gang.
"I'll stop thinking about that for now." Dilan shook his head, making his cheeks tremble. "For now let's focus on your smartphone. There are some things to set up and a security protocol to activate so you can't be hacked."
Ben raised an eyebrow at his words.
"Do you know how to do that?"
"Yes." Dilan nodded enthusiastically. "Why don't you come to my house and I'll help you set it up?"
"Okay" Ben agreed but not before missing the simple and straightforward way of his old world when it came to acquiring a smartphone.
