EVIL REINCARNATOR

Chapter 100: CHAPTER 90: AWAKENING

Giggadon Empire- Elaris City- Outer City Wall – Refugee Quarter- Inside a Detached House.

The house was silent, broken only by the soft chorus of breathing and the occasional snores drifting through the dimly lit room. Shadows danced weakly across the walls, cast by the flickering light of a lone lantern at the center of the room. Around it, a cluster of huddled forms clung to one another, seeking warmth and safety.

A figure moved silently through the room, weaving carefully between the sleeping bodies. Each step was deliberate, every movement measured to avoid disturbing an outstretched hand or shifting limb. The figure's features were barely visible, their silhouette blending with the darkness. At the edge of the space where the lantern's light was strongest, the figure stopped, gazing down at the sleeping children placed at the center, closest to the lantern, their small forms arranged protectively in a circle.

After a moment of stillness, the figure crouched beside one of the children, a boy lying at the outer edge of the circle. Gently and with ease, they lifted him onto their back, securing him with a cloth prepared beforehand. The child stirred faintly but did not wake, his head resting against the figure's shoulder. With the boy secured, the figure straightened and began their retreat toward the door.

OUTSIDE THE DETACHED HOUSE.

The cold night air greeted the figure as they stepped out of the house and into the moonlight, revealing a young girl no older than sixteen. Her tangled brown hair hung limp, streaked with mud and grime. A strip of cloth covered her nose and mouth, which she removed as she stepped fully into the open. Beneath the dirt and malnutrition, her beauty was still evident.

She quickened her pace, urgency, and determination driving her steps as she distanced herself from the house. The glow of the moon guided her through the Refugee Quarter, Time passed as she moved swiftly past other houses, eventually arriving at the market square.

An eerie silence hung over the dark market square. In the daylight, it was a bustling place filled with people, but now it was deserted and still. She walks into the market at a slow pace, counting softly as her gaze rested on the selling shops lining the right side of the market.

"The twelfth one... This should be it."

she thought, stopping before an unassuming selling shop, indistinguishable from its neighbors.

" Will this work?"

she thought to herself as she approached the selling shop and stopped in front of its door. Her eyes narrowed, with a serious expression on her face. Then she raised her fist and knocked on the shop's weathered door.

TWO HOURS LATER

Unanswered for hours, exhaustion weighed on her. Her legs trembled from hunger and fatigue, but she refused to leave.

Finally, a raspy voice pierced the quiet from behind the door.

"... What do you want at the witches' hour?"

The girl's knees buckled, and she crumpled to the ground, her palms pressing into the dirt. Tears streaked her grime-covered cheeks as she bowed, her forehead touching the cold earth. Her voice cracked, heavy with desperation.

"Please… I beg you. Save m-my son… He's sick, and no healer has been able to cure him. I've heard the rumors that your order performs miracles no mortal can. Nothing is impossible for you if the price can be paid. I am willing to pay whatever it costs. Please, just save him."

Silence followed, oppressive and suffocating, before the voice spoke again.

"I can tell from your appearance that you have nothing to offer. What could you possibly pay with?"

A suspicious smirk flickered across her face for an instant before she raised her forehead off the ground and stared at the door with a pitiful expression.

"I have nothing but my body and my mind. Take me, if that's what it costs."

Hearing her reply the voice went silent for a while before returning.

"In consideration of your suffering and plight, it has been decided. You will be accepted into the chapter, and your child shall be saved."

The door creaked open, revealing nothing but impenetrable darkness beyond.

"Enter," the voice commanded.

Seeing the darkness the girl hesitated, her eyes narrowing and expression cold as she stared into the impenetrable darkness beyond the door. Slowly, her fingers moved into her sleeve, deftly drawing out a hidden blade. Its edge glinted faintly in the moonlight, before walking into the darkness.

VIORIS-ORDER - SOUTHERN HAVEN - DARK-SISTERHOOD CHAPTER - INNER SANCTUM.

In the heart of the Haven lay the Inner Sanctum, a place so grand that even the most stoic visitor might find their breath stolen upon entry. A space that seemed to stretch endlessly, its vastness was beyond comprehension to the common being.

Towering pillars carved from sturdy stone lined the walls of the sanctum, while High above, a colossal dome ceiling loomed, made entirely from the same stone as the sanctuary. At its center was a massive Everglow Orb, bathing the chamber in a gentle radiance that reached even the farthest corners.

The Sanctum is divided into two halls. The Hall of Death and the Hall of Life, separated by high walls that stopped short of the ceiling. At the center of these walls stood three colossal pillars, their sheer size requiring thirty people hand-in-hand to encircle just one. Between these monoliths lay the passage connecting the two halls.

---------------------------------------------------------In the Hall of Death

A line of robed figures moved solemnly toward an altar at the chamber's center. Leading them was Faylinn, the Head of the Chapter and a First Awakened Sister. Close behind her were Krysera and Zynara, also First Awakened. Further back, four other girls trailed in similar attire, but unlike the three ahead in black, their outfits were gray.

Each wore a long, flowing dress that brushed the floor with every step. A sewn-in cowl covered their chests and doubled as a hood, casting deep shadows over their faces. The midsection of the dress was bare. Long sleeves extended from the wrists to the upper arms, seamlessly completing the design. Attached to the cowl's collar was a thick cloak that draped over their shoulders and trailed behind them. It was large enough to wrap around their entire bodies when needed.

After what felt like an eternity of measured strides, the group arrived at a wide staircase leading to the altar. Faylinn halted and produced a small, intricately designed wooden box from within her cloak. She held it forward, and the box began to glow with a soft golden light. The lid creaked open, revealing an octagonal crystal that pulsed rhythmically before shooting out a thin beam of light. The beam struck the invisible barrier formation protecting the altar, dispelling it. With the path now clear, they ascended the stone steps in unison, their movements synchronized. Moments later, they reached the altar, where a girl hovered, her body suspended in mid-air, her features peaceful. the crystal floats out of the box, and hovered above the girl, spinning slowly.

"Sister Faylinn, is this truly wise? The clairvoyant may have said this girl holds the answers we seek, but awakening her now and sending her into the Abyss without any training or preparation... She might not survive."

Zynara said, concern evident in her voice.

"Your worries are valid, but we have no time to waste training her,"

Faylinn replied.

"..."

Hearing this, Zynara's expression turned confused. She didn't understand what Sister Faylinn meant by a lack of time, after all, time was something they seemed to have in abundance. Curiosity stirred in her, and she was about to ask for clarification when Sister Krysera spoke first.

"Sister Faylinn, what do you mean we have no time?" Krysera asked, her tone laced with curiosity. Her gaze mirrored Zynara's as they both awaited an explanation.

Faylinn sighed, her voice calm but heavy with significance.

"Since I planned to tell you eventually, I might as well tell you now. Tonight, I received a telepathic message from the 'Misty Haven.'"

"WHAT?!"

Both Zynara and Krysera gasped, their faces pale, cold sweat forming on their brows. The Misty Haven was the highest authority within the Order. A direct message from them was no trivial matter.

"Ten days from now, every chapter must mobilize and move toward their assigned target kingdoms and prepare for 'THE DAY'. That's why she must be awakened and sent into the Abyss now. Even if the chances of her succeeding and uncovering the answers to further our realm are slim, it's a risk we must take. Strengthening our forces is imperative to ensure we do not fail in our mission."

Faylinn explained.

"Sigh… I see. There's no helping it. I just hope you survive."

Zynara murmured to herself, her gaze lifting to the girl.

"What should we do about the child she brought with her? She said he was sick, but I found no signs of illness."

Krysera asked.

"It seems she lied to gain entry into the Haven... If she succeeds, we'll test his aptitude and send him to the chapter that best suits his Pathway."

Faylinn replied.

"And if she fails?"

"Kill him."

Faylinn said nonchalantly, her tone cold and serious as she turned her gaze to the crystal.

"System begin awakening."
