Evil Gods Don’t Save People

Chapter 13: Full Moon (1)

Just as Justice Audrey regained her senses of her surroundings, she prepared to stand up to greet the existence at the end of the long bronze table.

At this moment, as a senior Spectator, she acutely noticed a difference:

There was one more member than last week!

Audrey first felt happy that the Tarot Club was developing and becoming stronger, but then she kept to her professional instincts and quickly began observing.

Black hair… Green eyes… He doesn't wear a coat… A vest matched with a shirt… He sits a little oddly. He's not accustomed to sitting properly… He's probably about 180 cm tall… He has quite a desultory temperament… He's rather tense… At one glance, Justice Audrey had 'read' plenty of information from the rather blurry figure.

Audrey stood up and turned to face the seat of honor, then did a curtsy towards the figure shrouded in gray fog.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Fool~"

Resonating with Miss Justice's feelings, the Sun was also happy that there was a new member. Meanwhile, the Hanged Man kept his thoughts to himself.

Lost in his thoughts, Leonard saw the girl sitting to the left of Mr. Fool stand up. Then, she led everyone into bowing.

He was taken aback, failing to react in time and stood out when amongst all the standing members.

After a second, Leonard snapped back to his senses and hurriedly stood up to deliver the greeting.

The Fool watched such a gathering with deadpan eyes.

"This is the Star, take your seats and introduce yourself."

The name 'The Star' keeps making me think that it's the code name for a lady… As Leonard thought in exasperation, he focused and began labeling the members in the order of their introduction.

After listening to Miss Justice buy the complete pituitary gland of a mature Rainbow Salamander from Mr. Hanged Man and learning about the bestowment ritual to facilitate trades, Leonard saw Miss Justice speak up again.

"Mr. Fool, I've found two ladies suitable for our Tarot Club. They're both Beyonders and have their own circle and resources in Backlund. They're also able to keep a secret and have decent personalities. Are you willing to let them join the gathering?"

'Does Justice want to strengthen her faction within the Tarot Club?' This was the most instinctual thought that Alger had.

Derrick was very interested in this matter as he looked sideways at Mr. Fool, waiting for His answer in anticipation.

'This is possible?' Leonard, who was new to the gathering, was less affected by Miss Justice's question.

Mr. Fool, who looked at the four Low-Sequence Beyonders currently intruding Sefirah Castle, resigned to his fate and decided to do divination.

'Well, after all, whether it's 4 or 6, there's not much difference…'

Feeling like he was making a bad decision, the Fool stayed silent for a while.

Finally, he reluctantly said, "It will require a certain amount of examination."

After all, agreeing to let them know His name did not necessarily mean they would join the gathering. Yeah, they will not necessarily join the gathering…

'Why do I feel like I'm making a bad decision?' The Fool hoped he wasn't jinxing himself.

"Miss Justice, use a clandestine method that wouldn't expose yourself to let them know of my name to garner interest in them."

When Audrey saw that her proposal was about to be accepted, she immediately responded in excitement, "Yes, Mr. Fool!"

'Don't be so happy yet. I said I would consider it, it does not mean that I won't refuse it.' The Fool was in denial.

"Congratulations on becoming a Telepathist, Miss Justice."

Wow, the children were growing.

When he met her, Miss Justice was merely an ordinary person and now she was already a Telepathist.

Actually, she was only a Telepathist. She could be crushed by the Fool's enemies in less than a second. That's too weak.

However, maybe he was asking for a bit too much. It's obvious that Low-Sequence Beyonders wouldn't stand a chance against True Gods and stronger existences.

The Fool felt like a parent watching his favorite child learning how to walk.

That's why he diligently gave Miss Justice the Psychiatrist potion formula and the Light Supplicant formula, receiving gold pounds in exchange while the Sun paid her with information about dragons.

That's how a three-way deal was completed and Mr. Fool also became richer.

Mr. Star watched all that happen in a daze, leaning from the blasphemy.

'We can do this?'

The Fool touched the crimson star that didn't belong to any Tarot Club member.

The scene around him suddenly changed. He saw the overturned coffee table, the slanted sofa, books and papers strewn all over the floor, and a woman with brown hair struggling in pain.

At the same time, the Fool heard her prayers.

"The Fool that doesn't belong to this era… The mysterious ruler above the gray fog… The King of Yellow and Black who wields good luck… Save me, save me…"

Hmm, that was quite a nostalgic prayer. However, the voice was too feminine to be Bethel Abraham. Did the Mother Tree of Desire manage to completely corrupt Him and turned Him into a 'Her'?

The Fool wouldn't judge. Though, his spiritual intuition told him that the next words wouldn't be 'don't save me' and that the one prayer to him wasn't Bethel Abraham.

She seemed to be affected by ravings. Was she an apprentice from the Abraham family? No, she didn't seem to have the Abraham bloodline.

Mr. Fool stared at the dying person that was praying to him and pulled her up to put an end to her pain.

After all, it would be faster to ask any question in person. (Or make a divination, but there was a high probability that the divination in question would be directed to a mad Bethel Abraham that was corrupted by a Great Old One, and the Fool certainly didn't want to deal with either of them).

Yeah, who told Bethel to make a trip to the cosmos? It must have been Adam's idea. Right, everything was the Ancient Sun God's fault.

That, or it was Amon's idea which means it was caused by malicious intentions and the outcome of such a existence's plan only made the future seem gloomier.

Having watched Amon and his 'plans' for years, the Fool had enough experience to know what he was talking about.

'Maybe I should just go back to sleep…'

But the apocalypse would come soon. Being corrupted in his sleep by Outer Gods invading Sefirah Castle didn't seem like a very bright idea.

Back to the matter at hand, the Fool was facing the confused lady who had regained her senses and should definitely snap out of his thoughts.

Fors, who was losing control just now, suddenly became wide awake. The pain, the irritation, the madness, and the despair, which she felt so deeply in her bones, seemed to no longer exist, as though it was only an illusion.

Fors opened her eyes which she had unconsciously closed and found an endless grayish-white fog beneath her, and in front of her was an ancient, mottled bronze table.

Surprised, she looked around and saw numerous towering stone pillars, as well as a towering palace that was propped up by those stone pillars.

Then, at the very end of the long bronze table, she saw a mysterious figure shrouded in thick gray fog who seemed to be overlooking everything from above.

'What is this place? Who is he?' Fors turned wary and questioned inwardly.

Then, she remembered what she had just done.

Under her extreme pain, she had chanted the mysterious incantation which Xio had found in the 'History of the Loen Kingdom's Aristocracy', an incantation that was suspected to be directed at some evil god.

While Fors suppressed the fear in her heart, she half stood up and bowed.

"May I know who you are…"

At that moment, she suddenly recalled the contents of the incantation as she blurted out, "You are The Fool! Uh, Mr. Fool. You are His Excellency, The Fool?"

Hearing his 'name' repeated three times in a row and even being called 'His Excellency', the Fool stared at the lady.

"Just call me Mr. Fool."
