Chapter 14: Chapter 14: No Problem...

Clang!

A metallic ring reverberated.

The ghoul's kagune was caught between Hikaru's fingers. All those years of training had not been in vain. With his cheat-like advantage, it had only taken him a few months to gain strength on par with a "Great Knight" in the Campione! world. Afterward, he learned devil magic, and his body's toughness could no longer be compared to what it once was. Attacks from a ghoul felt more like a light scratch to him.

He could nullify them through physical strength alone.

"W-What's going on…?"

Touka Kirishima was the most shocked of all. How could an ordinary human possibly block a ghoul's attack? Even reacting in time should have been impossible. As far as she knew, Hikaru was just someone who was extremely skilled in sports. Could this be the legendary "sports guy" power at work?

Meanwhile, Hikaru, who had just stopped the kagune with his fingers, made a move of his own—grabbing the ghoul's head. Cursed energy burst from within his body and surged into his palm, igniting the ghoul's head in seconds. Flesh and brain were incinerated before it could regenerate. Even a ghoul's formidable healing couldn't bring him back from that.

"Brother!"

Seeing what had happened, the other black-robed ghoul who was blocking Touka and her companions instantly snapped. He kicked off the ground, spun 360 degrees in midair, and swung his kagune with tremendous momentum in a slash directed at Hikaru.

But it was futile. The kagune sliced only empty air. In what felt like a blink, Hikaru appeared above him.

Boom!

Hikaru's foot slammed the ghoul's head to the floor, smashing out a large crater. Blood splattered; his skull visibly fractured.

Finally realizing something was wrong, the blond ghoul known as "Gecko" turned around to glare at Hikaru.

"You bastard! Who are you?!"

"I'm the one who's going to kill you."

Hikaru spoke calmly, voice as cold as ice.

"Judgment has come. Die."

The moment he finished, Hikaru disappeared from Gecko's field of vision. His speed had already surpassed what normal eyes could follow, so even the simplest physical attack looked like lightning-fast motion. With cursed energy amplifying his speed, he could move even faster—but there was no need to go that far for small fries like these.

In Gecko's eyes, Hikaru vanished, and by the time he realized what had happened, the Spear of Light—originally wielded by Gecko—was already piercing through his skull from back to front. Despite all his muscle and training, his body crumpled like cotton candy.

The masked ghoul Noro, however, posed a surprise. Even with his skull torn apart, he remained alive.

"Be careful! Ordinary attacks can't kill him!"

someone behind called out.

"Can't kill him? I doubt that."

Hikaru paused, and Noro stayed where he was. His white mask had shattered, revealing a grotesque face. Most of his flesh was covered by kagune. Even his brain was fused with it. Though Noro's intelligence wasn't high, his primal survival instincts had been pushed to the limit. Yet the oppressive aura emanating from Hikaru made him want to flee immediately.

But Hikaru wouldn't give him the chance. Narrowing his eyes, he began to use his immortal qi. Everything that lives possesses qi, and ghouls are no exception—except theirs mainly originates from their kakuhou, which defines a ghoul's very essence.

"It ends now."

Identifying the location of Noro's kakuhou with immortal qi, Hikaru became a blur once more, moving too fast to track. Several flashes of light fell in an instant, puncturing every kakuhou inside the ghoul. Noro's entire body was simultaneously smashed to pieces. At the same time, the Spear of Light in Hikaru's hand vanished—its energy from the fallen angels spent.

"Hiss…!"

Touka Kirishima, Yoshimura, and the others stared in disbelief. Such overwhelming strength! Even ghouls bolstered by fallen-angel power had been annihilated in mere seconds.

"Amazing, Touka… He's really your classmate? Someone with that kind of power… might he be part of one of those legendary mythic factions?"

As soon as that was said, everyone still alive tensed up. Ghouls who once believed themselves capable of influencing the world realized that in a setting ruled by mythology, they were small fry indeed. Even facing a single low-level fallen angel was usually beyond them—and here was Hikaru, likely a member of some mysterious power, performing feats that dwarfed theirs.

"Now, it's your turn."

Hikaru slowly turned around, fixing them with a calm gaze. At his words, a wave of goosebumps swept over everyone in the room.
