Chapter 6 - Aligned with the Heavens
Xue Jiang went back to his parents’ house, and back to his old room, to process what he received today.
The first thing he took out was Hao Yang's notes on the Dragon Blood Cult. There were various pages of notes describing how the sect started out on the demonic path, and how they explored various ways to become invincible. Some thought it was the spirit of invincibility; to stay true and to always be faithful to yourself, and knowing that from the beginning, you were invincible. Some thought that it started with the soul; if it was strengthened in various ways and became invincible, the body would naturally become invincible, and at that point you could become immortal. Others thought that it depended on your legacy; if you lived on in the world’s memory, you would be invincible so long as the world existed and remembered you.
Up to this point, Xue Jiang wasn’t sure what any of this had to do with him; his thirteen principles still seemed to have no relevance to the Dragon Blood core.
It wasn’t until he read up to the part describing the reason for the Dragon Blood Cult’s enmity with the Orthodox sects.
After all sorts of accumulation, a disciple of the Dragon Blood Cult stated that one path of invincibility was to align their Dao to the heavens; if their spirit, body, and soul, aligned with the heavens, there would be no reason for the heavens to remove them from this world, and they would thus become invincible. But as Demon Blood Cult was a demonic path sect, this wasn’t really something he could say, or he would drown in the spit of his fellow disciples. So he stated that the Orthodox sects aligned with the heavens just for this reason, and in truth their Dao was something that was inherently selfish, and therefore, aligned with the demonic path.
Naturally, this was blasphemy, and it wasn’t something the Orthodox sects so tolerate; thus began the crusade to eliminate the Dragon Blood Cult.
Xue Jiang’s eyes widened. So that’s why I formed the Dragon Blood core, he thinks, processing the information. Much of the principles that he engraved onto his Soul Source were principles that aligned with the teachings of the Orthodox sects.
As Xue Jiang thought about it, he considered that there could be some truth to what that disciple said about aligning with the heavens, and that this was a valid path to invincibility. Thus, considering, if there wasn’t some truth to it, there would be no way for the principles he engraved onto his Soul Source to lead to forming the Dragon Blood core, which was inherently a core that was formed to seek out a path to invincibility.
Xue Jiang let out a sigh. So it has come to this, he thinks, somewhat lamenting the path he had to walk. He had somehow found himself exploring the Dao of Invincibility. Xue Jiang shakes his head. If that’s the path I’m on, then that’s the path I’ll walk! He thinks with determination.
Xue Jiang takes out the Thousand River Strike technique, and begins to read through it.
The technique describes how the disciples of the Dragon Blood Cult were all extremely unyielding, and only walked through one path. As if a river, their spirits were relentless; if a mountain blocked them, that mountain was doomed to be reduced to a pile of rocks. If they were given the choice to avoid a fight and avoid death, their answers would be the same if the question was asked a thousand times; fight!
Since their spirits were so singular in the way they flowed; the power of this spirit could be gathered from the river of time. Essentially, a disciple of the Dragon Blood sect who was ready to fight, would likely be in the same place, ready to fight, in a thousand different worlds; so a single was disciples was the same as fighting a thousand disciples, if the power of their spirit could be gathered.
Xue Jiang’s eyes widen. Holy shit! Is it really so powerful? Xue Jiang wonders. What if one day, he decides to fight someone, and his reflections in the realm of possibility decided to find something to eat instead? Wouldn’t he be screwed? Xue Jiang wonders.
Alas, it was probably a good idea to learn this technique; the only requirement to practice it was to have the Eternity core, and it was something he already attained.
Putting the books away, Xue Jiang realizes that he had a new problem; he was too poor! Cultivating required all sorts of resources, and there was no way he could support it by simply being a fisherman! Since Xue Jiang had been kicked out of the True Sword sect, he could only find a way to make enough money to support his cultivation.
Xue Jiang thinks back; when he was still young and hopeful for his path of cultivation didn’t he think of a solution to this?
Xue Jiang rummages through the things that were left in his room and he found it; a book called Introduction to Alchemy.
Back then this was not something he could practice. The basics to become an alchemist or a refiner, required one to become a Core Formation expert; only the energy of a Core Formation expert was strong enough to support the cultivation of a spiritual flame, which could be used to refine pills and weapons.
Xue Jiang reads through it, and guided by the book, he began the process to cultivate a spiritual flame. He began with the flame seed, engraving the basic arrays to create an eternal flame. It had to be said that Xue Jiang was somewhat talented, and succeeded on his first try. After the arrays were set onto the flame seed, a spiritual flame sprung to life.
Xue Jiang let’s out a sigh of relief; he was overjoyed that it worked! If he couldn’t cultivate a spiritual flame, he would be doomed to become poor; and he may be forced to go crawling back to the True Sword sect.
Xue Jiang lays on his bed and prepares to rest. He still had much to explore regarding alchemy, but for now, he was exhausted.
