Chapter 440: Su Yen and the Ancient Gate.
Boom!
A terrifying shockwave echoed through the still space as the gigantic ancient gate pulsed with a foreboding aura.
Su Yen stood before it, his expression solemn.
The gate's intimidating presence seemed to compel him to bow in respect, but his pagoda bloodline repelled the oppressive force, allowing him to stand firm.
Su Yen was as insignificant as an ant compared to the towering gate. The gate was massive in height and width, its surface covered with hundreds of interwoven languages and intricate runes.
The strange inscriptions were no ordinary languages—they were imbued with intent and profound laws.
Just staring at them made Su Yen's soul tremble. He was astonished; without his bloodline protecting him, the sheer pressure of the runes would have forced him to retreat.
Tearing his gaze away from the intimidating inscriptions, his eyes settled on the thousands of ancient runes etched into the gate. A cold breath escaped his lips.
Though he prided himself on his expertise in runes and array formations, these ancient symbols were beyond his understanding.
He realized how limited his knowledge was compared to the unfathomable wisdom of the ancients.
He also noticed that some of the runes were connected to the ancient altar where the dead monster had once lain.
It became clear that these runes had sustained the monster's life for so long.
'As expected, these ancient experts were not simple,' Su Yen thought, shaking his head in awe.
The sheer power of the gate left him wondering what lay beyond. Without hesitation, he stepped forward and attempted to push it open.
Bang!
A powerful force repelled him, sending him flying backward. Shocked, Su Yen quickly stabilized himself in mid-air and landed on his feet.
"What a strong force," he muttered, his eyes narrowing.
He examined the gate but detected nothing unusual on its surface. Yet the overwhelming power behind it was undeniable.
"Not even the monster could stop me. Now, a mere gate wants to block my path? Hmph!" He scoffed, his eyes sharp with determination as he summoned his strength to its peak. Your adventure continues at My Virtual Library Empire
Whoosh!
He appeared before the gate again and pushed with all his might. Once more, the gate repelled him, but this time he was prepared.
Standing five meters away, his expression grew even more resolute. The more the gate resisted, the stronger his determination became.
He tried repeatedly, unleashing the full power of his Early Saint Realm cultivation, but his efforts were futile.
He attempted to decipher the ancient runes, but they were too esoteric for him to comprehend.
Using his system briefly crossed his mind, but he dismissed the idea. He was determined to advance without relying on it, sticking to his convictions.
Even when he attacked the gate with his strongest strikes, they left no mark on its surface.
Exasperated, Su Yen clenched his fists.
"What a pain in the ass," he muttered in annoyance.
"Hmm. Do you think you can stop me? Impossible," he growled, his eyes flashing with a cold glint. The space around him rippled, and spatial cracks appeared.
Since brute force hadn't worked, he decided to bypass the gate using his mastery of space.
Bang!
A deafening sound echoed as Su Yen was forcefully ejected from the subspace, and sent flying several meters back.
Blood trickled from the corner of his lips as he landed, his face pale.
"What a sinister defense," he murmured, wiping the blood away. "If I hadn't reacted quickly, I would've been seriously injured."
Though he had narrowly escaped serious harm, the subspace attack left him shaken. Its cunning nature was far more dangerous than a direct physical assault.
"What should I do?"
The reality of his limitations weighed on him. Despite the power of his pagoda bloodline, his cultivation realm was still far below that of the ancient experts who had created this gate.
Taking a deep breath to calm his frustration, he resolved to think clearly.
"There must be a way for people to open this gate," he mused aloud. "It wouldn't have been created without a key."
An idea struck him. "Perhaps the blood of the Necoris can open the gate."
Acting on his hunch, he disappeared from the spot. In an instant, he reappeared above the Necoris city.
His gaze pierced through the city's restrictions, landing on Orzall and the other elders of the newly established royal clan.
Whoosh!
Orzall and the elders collapsed unconscious as Su Yen appeared beside them. Without hesitation, he took Orzall back to the gate.
'I hope this works,' Su Yen thought as he placed Orzall's hand on the ancient gate and applied some pressure.
Bang!
The gate repelled them both with its immense force. While Su Yen remained unscathed, thanks to his preparation, Orzall was not so fortunate.
The force shattered Orzall's bones, and blood poured from his orifices.
"Huh. It didn't work," Su Yen muttered, frowning as his mind raced to find another solution.
Giving up was not an option—his pride as an Emperor and the strength of his bloodline wouldn't allow it.
Sighing, he approached the injured Orzall and forced a pill into his mouth. After ensuring his safety, Su Yen opened a spatial gate and sent him to his courtyard for recovery.
With the Necoris bloodline ruled out, Su Yen refocused his attention on the gate. Force was useless, and deciphering the ancient runes seemed impossible.
"Am I really going to give up?" he asked himself before shaking his head. "Never."
"There has to be a solution… I just haven't found it yet."
He began pacing back and forth, his mind racing through countless possibilities, discarding each one as quickly as it came.
Then his eyes landed on the head of the dead monster.
Pausing, he tilted his head in thought.
"Let's try this…"
In a flash, he appeared before the monster's head, picked it up, and returned to the gate.
'If I knew the gate would be this difficult to open, I wouldn't have killed it,' he thought, regretting his earlier actions.
With no time for second thoughts, he pressed the monster's head against the gate.
To his surprise, the usual repelling force didn't activate. Instead, the massive ancient gate began to tremble violently.
Creak!
A faint sound echoed as the gate cracked open slightly.
Su Yen's eyes widened in disbelief.
