Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 2466 Drums of War

Chapter 2466  Drums of War

Alex was relieved when he saw Windborn return to the stadium. He had left after Aethersage's interview, so Alex was worried he would be swayed by Aethersage and give him the pin.

If he had returned, it meant that he hadn't made his choice just yet. There was still a chance to win the pin from him.

Alex focused on the interviews after that, as he would go up in just a few hours.

He wondered who was going to interview him. Artifact God, Beast God, and the Puppet God were the ones that interviewed the most, so the chances of getting one of them were high.

Alex wouldn't mind if it were any of those three. All of them were women, so getting to see them up close would help him determine whether the feeling he got from the Winter God was unique or not.

If it was the Winter God who interviewed him, he could maybe figure out if that feeling in the past was a one-time thing.

As for the Storm God, Alex didn't think he would gain any information from that man, but he was certainly one of the stronger gods, so getting to talk with him would be fun anyway.

In the end, no matter which god was the interviewer, he didn't find himself minding all that much.

Some time later, he was asked to go prepare for the interview, as he was coming up.

"I have that other matter with the pin, so I might not return here immediately after the interview is over, Master," Alex said.

"It's okay. Go do what you need to do. But make sure your interview is more memorable than that bastard's disciple. I don't want to see anyone saying he was better."

Alex smiled. "I will, Master."

Alex went to an empty hall to prepare. While he prepared, another interview was held with the Beast God as the interviewer.

'I suppose I know who it's not,' Alex thought and sat as he watched the interview. The interview lasted for an hour and a half before it ended. Upon its conclusion, there was a break of a few minutes.

Once the few minutes passed, the Alchemy God appeared and announced for him to come onto the stage.

Alex walked out of one of the gates and flew to the stage, making his way to the giant pedestal. As he sat, he heard the cheers and shouts from millions of individuals who were excited to see him there.

No doubt, he had made a name for himself. He smiled slightly and waved at them all.

He looked to his left, where he was previously seated. He saw his master, Pearl, Momo, and Grimsight there. Then, he looked to the right, where Windborn was.

He looked at Windborn for a brief moment and was about to look elsewhere when something else caught his attention. In a sea of applause and cheers, just a step above where Windborn was, he saw two women in dark-blue robes, with veils covering both of their faces.

He would have stared at them longer had the Alchemy God not begun announcing his interviewer.

"And the one who will be interviewing him is…"

The Alchemy God slowed down and looked below. Alex followed his gaze, as did everyone, and they saw something surprising.

Hundreds of men and women wearing dark-golden robes walked out of all the gates, spilling around the stage as they formed a circle. Then, one by one, many of them brought out large drums and began beating them in unison.

Everyone could feel their heart shake with every hit of the drum.

DUM~ DUM~ DUM~ DUM~ DUM~

"HAH!" the ones without the drums began shouting, along with the beat of the drum. Together, they created quite the mysterious yet stunning atmosphere.

The Alchemy God continued his announcement. "Let me welcome onto the stage the one and only, War God."

Amid the sound of the drums and shouting, a lone man walked out of one of the gates on the ground. Unlike every other god who chose to fly in, he walked.

Even from far away, one could tell the muscular body of the man, built like a body cultivator. His half-robe let one see his bronze skin with muscles straining to bulge out of him.

He walked up to the stage and suddenly raised his fist. The sound died at once. Then, the man jumped.

Instead of flying, he directly jumped onto the pedestal. He landed with a thump and raised his fist one more time.

All the men gathered at the bottom hit the drum one last time before packing it all up and leaving.

The Alchemy God turned toward the War God. "Quite the show," he said softly.

The War God smiled. "They all put in effort. Why shouldn't I?" he asked before simply nodding and letting the Alchemy God fly away.

Alex watched in stunned silence at the War God, who appeared as strong as his aura led one to believe. Even if one took away the man's cultivation base, Alex had a feeling he would still lose to him as a mortal.

He appeared middle-aged but still quite handsome. His skin especially seemed to glisten in the sunlight.

Alex failed to hide his surprise, as he hadn't been expecting a new god to show up. He didn't even know such a god existed before this. It was surprising.

The War God slowly turned to everyone in the audience, letting them all take a good look at him. Once he turned fully, he finally sat down on the seat provided for him.

He stared at Alex while the people around the stadium cheered for him. They imitated the cheer from the men who had now gone back out through the gates.

After a long time of staring directly at Alex, the War God clapped, releasing a piercing sound that silenced everyone at once, forcing them into stillness.

"We will speak now," the man said. "Everyone else will just listen."

The War God's words put fear into the millions of people present in the audience. No one dared even move, lest they rustle some clothes. They didn't even dare breathe too loudly.

The War God settled into his seat and brought out a talisman. "What's your name?" he asked.

"Dawnblade, Your… Majesty," Alex said.

The War God raised an eyebrow. "I am no monarch. Just call me War God," the man said.

"Understood, War God."

"Then let me ask you this again. What is your name?"

Alex straightened up. "Dawnblade, War God," he answered.

The War God shook his head. "That is your Daoist title, not your name. I will ask you one last time. What is your name?" he asked.

Alex froze for a bit. He hadn't used his name ever since he had ascended to the Immortal realm. The entire reason he had done that was so people wouldn't realize who he was and what he had.

However, with the War God asking him for his name, he couldn't refuse to answer. At the same time, lying in front of a god might have worse consequences than not answering.

In the end, Alex could only answer with what was technically the truth.

"Yu Ming, War God," he said. "I go by Yu Ming."
