Essence of the Unlimited Potential IN GOD OF WAR 2018

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Beyond the Forest

By the age of four, Eirik had grown into a remarkably strong and confident child. His strength, thanks to the Essence flowing through him, was already on par with Kratos' power before he had slain Ares. This immense strength, combined with his natural curiosity and mischievous nature, made him restless. The protective boundaries of the forest that Faye had set up to shield her family felt more like a cage to him. He longed to see what lay beyond, to explore the vast world of Midgard and beyond.

One crisp morning, while Faye was busy teaching Atreus the intricacies of the runes and Kratos was sharpening his weapons, Eirik saw his chance. He had been planning this for weeks, studying the patterns of his parents' routines and the magical wards Faye had placed around the forest. With a mischievous grin, he slipped away, his small form darting between the trees with the agility of a seasoned hunter.

The wards that Faye had set up were powerful, designed to keep both enemies and her children safely within the forest. But Eirik, with his innate understanding of magic and his boundless potential, found a way to bypass them. He focused his energy, harmonizing with the magic of the wards, and slipped through unnoticed.

As he stepped beyond the forest's edge, Eirik was greeted by a breathtaking vista. The landscape was a mix of lush greenery, rugged mountains, and sparkling rivers. The air was fresh, filled with the scent of pine and the distant sound of rushing water. The beauty of Midgard was unlike anything he had ever seen, and for a moment, he stood in awe, his heart swelling with wonder.

He ran through the fields, laughing as he felt the sun on his face. He climbed rocks, jumped over streams, and marveled at the wildlife that roamed freely. The world outside the forest was vast and full of life, and Eirik felt a sense of freedom he had never known.

As he explored, Eirik's sharp eyes caught sight of something unusual in the distance. A figure stood atop a cliff, overlooking the valley below. She was tall and regal, her presence commanding even from afar. Her long hair flowed in the wind, and she wore a cloak adorned with feathers. Eirik's curiosity was piqued. Who was this woman, and what was she doing here?

He approached cautiously, his natural confidence tempered by a hint of caution. As he drew closer, he could see her more clearly. Her eyes were sharp and intelligent, and there was a sadness in them that spoke of a deep, unspoken pain. Eirik's heart skipped a beat as he recognized her. Freya, the Vanir goddess, former wife of Odin, and mother of Baldur. His past knowledge flooded back, and he knew exactly who she was.

But Eirik also knew that his presence was undetectable if he wished it to be. The Essence granted him immunity to being perceived by any form of clairvoyance or detection. He could observe her without fear of being noticed.

Freya stood silently, her gaze fixed on the horizon. Eirik watched her from a distance, his mind racing. He knew her story, her pain, and her eventual role in the events that would unfold. But seeing her here, in this moment, made her seem more real, more human.

For a while, he simply observed, taking in the sight of the goddess who had suffered so much. He felt a pang of sympathy for her, knowing the trials she would face. But he also felt a sense of determination. Perhaps, in this new life, he could change things, and help those who had been wronged.
