Chapter 5: Grand Magic Games Part 3
"What the hell was that lighting bolt and what just happened to Salamander, what's going on here?" Gajeel thought to himself.
The video lacrima started to static causing a loud screeching sound to be heard, forcing everyone to cover their ears to protect their hearing. The Dragon Slayers were severely affected by this because of the enhanced senses they have thanks to their magic, even Wendy was blocking her ears despite the distance she has underground.
"Mr. Yajima, what is happening to video lacrimas?!" shouted Chapati, who was protecting his ears with his hands.
"I don't know, something has interfered with them." The chief responded, mimicking his fellow judge.
As soon as the screeching stopped, everybody uncovered their ears and was confused about what just occurred.
"Hey look, the screens are showing something!"
Happy, Natsu's best friend, exceed partner, and adopted son, pointed to the visual lacrimas above, getting their attention, finding out that the blue talking cat was right.
"Yes, but the question is, what?" Panther Lily, a black feline with round, wild cat-like ears and Gajeel's exceed partner, wondered.
The video screens were still buzzing for a little while until they finally began to clear and show an image.
It showed an amalgamation of a forest and a rocky field with ravines. It then showed the ominous blue glow appearing off-screen, with its light projecting on the terrain. Everyone waited for a few minutes before revealing a familiar salmon-haired figure looking around, wondering what had happened.
"Natsu?" Romeo, a young guild member that looks up to the mage and also a user of Fire Magic, spoke out.
"Natsu, can you hear me, my boy?!" shouted Makarov.
The dragon slayer didn't respond, he just looked around with a puzzled look on his face.
'What the hell is going on?' thought the 6th Guild Master.
Lucy was lying in the hospital bed, trying to fall asleep. She was sad she wouldn't be able to watch Natsu and Gajeel's fight, but was confident that they would win, she was sure of it. In the meantime, she's got Wendy, Carla, Elfman, Evergreen, and Porlyusica to keep her company.
Elfman was brutally beaten because of taking many powerful hits during his own fight, though it was because of his endurance that he managed to win by making his opponent wear himself out.
Evergreen was there by his side not only to give him company, but also because she grew a liking to Elfman, although neither one of them admitted to liking each other and would deny that they are a couple when people would tease them about it.
Porlyusica, the resident healer of Fairy Tail, was down to keep an eye on them to make sure they recover fully and that they are safe. Though she acts like a cranky old hag sometimes, she does have a good heart under her harsh exterior.
Elfman was talking about Gajeel and Natsu winning for their guild like real men, with Evergreen scolding him for always saying that, followed by Porlyusica scolding them both for interrupting her and for acting like a married couple, with them quickly saying they aren't.
Wendy and Carla were sitting next to Lucy's bed laughing at the little situation before them.
"I wonder how Natsu is doing, I haven't heard anything that seemed like it was coming from the fight." said Lucy.
"Yeah, now that I think about it, I haven't heard anything in a while." Wendy mentioned.
Lucy was still thinking about that when Wendy started covering her ears while she grunted in pain.
"What's wrong child?" Carla asked.
"Do you hear that? That screeching?!" She muttered.
The residents didn't know what she was talking about. But soon, they heard a piercing shriek that sounded faint to them, but to Wendy she could hear it perfectly.
"It must be coming from above." Evergreen spoke out.
She was a member of Laxus Thunder Legion, his own group of bodyguards that were talented mages in their own right. Her specialty was Fairy Magic and the ability to turn people to stone just by looking at them similar to Medusa thanks to a Magic called Stone Eyes.
"Yeah, but what is making that noise?" Elfman Strauss asked.
He was the only brother and the middle child to Mirajane and Lisanna Strauss. He was a user of Take-Over Magic, allowing him to harness the souls of creatures to take on their forms and properties at his disposal. His version utilizes the spirits of Beasts.
Soon, the screeching stopped and Wendy breathed a sigh of relief as the pain faded from her eardrums. Carla made sure that she was okay, to which the bluenette reassured her she was. When that was done, a small projection suddenly showed up in the middle of the room, catching everyone by surprise. It was four small, wide rectangular TV screens positioned next to each other in a circle form, much like the giant screens above.
"A lacrima vision?" Lucy questioned.
"What's going on, can they show the game here now? Wendy asked.
"If they did, it wouldn't be like this." answered Carla.
"Well at least I can see the fight, Gajeel and Natsu are manly, but not as manly as me." boasted Elfman.
"Will you knock it off with that nonsense already!" shouted an agitated Evergreen.
"Enough." said Porlyusica firmly.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at her.
"This isn't normal, there shouldn't be a lacrima screen down here. Something is up." Porlyusica looked at the screen observantly until she spotted something.
"Wait, isn't that the loud-mouthed, pink-haired boy?" asked Porlyusica.
Everyone turned back to the screen, noticing what appeared to be Natsu, not in the stadium, but somewhere else entirely.
"I don't get it, where is Natsu, or Gajeel and the other dragon slayers for that matter?" questioned Wendy.
Lucy was looking at the screen, wondering the same thing as her younger, bluenette guildmate.
"Natsu, where are you?" thought a concerned Lucy.
