Chapter 917: Three Men and a TV Show
The next day, Betty Gabriel's manager received a call from a staff member of the Get Out project.
After some communication, the manager took Betty Gabriel to sign the contract.
Once the news broke, many people were asking who this Betty Gabriel was and how she managed to land such an important role.
Meanwhile, Jada Smith was throwing a tantrum at home, and some "fragile items" in the house fell victim.
Will Smith had no choice but to escape and seek "refuge."
Inside a nightclub.
Martin, Leonardo, and Will Smith were sitting on a couch, each with a girl by their side.
Wait, no—Leonardo had one girl, Will Smith had two, and Martin hadn't brought any.
Martin looked at the blonde beauty next to Leonardo and teased, "Is this what you call being a one-woman man? Ah, you really are 'one-hearted'!"
"Heh, I've always loved long-legged blonde beauties. Isn't that being 'one-hearted'?" Leonardo forced an explanation.
"Oh really? Should I take a photo and send it to Blake, see what she has to say?" Martin pulled out his phone with a mischievous grin.
"Don't! I was wrong, bro!" Leonardo quickly pressed down on Martin's hand, begging for mercy.
Martin was about to say something else when he felt a strange sensation on his calf. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a stocking-clad foot slowly creeping up his pant leg, coming to rest on his thigh.
Will Smith noticed too and said with a laugh, "Ah, Hannah, that's enough. Go sit down properly. No need to secretly seduce Martin."
Then he turned to Martin and said, "Hannah's parents are very strict with her. The little girl begged them to let her out tonight when she heard I was meeting up with you. But I promised to get her back home before midnight." He gave Martin a look that said you know what I mean.
Martin ignored him and instead reached down to grab Hannah Carmen's foot.
The girl let out a delicate yelp, then felt a tickling sensation and couldn't help but burst into laughter. "Hahaha..."
"Wow, wow, wow, you guys are something else. Hannah is my little niece. If you want to flirt and play around, find a private place," Will said.
Martin released her foot and laughed. "Isn't this place private enough? Look at you two—one's a horny wolf, the other's a horny dog."
"And what does that make you? A horny pig?" Leonardo retorted.
"No, I'm a respectable man," Martin said, pretending to be prim.
Hannah Carmen quickly sat down next to Martin, grabbing his arm and rubbing against him like a kitten, her eyes narrowed in satisfaction.
"Be careful, Hannah, be careful," Will said with a strange tone.
Leonardo laughed. "Is this girl a sloth or something?"
"Hmph, I just like sticking to Martin! I like his smell!" Hannah Carmen shot a disdainful look at Will and Leonardo. "He's not like you two—stinky men."
"I'm stinky?" Leonardo lifted his arm and sniffed it, then asked the girl next to him, "Am I stinky?"
"Of course not!"
Will Smith pointed helplessly at his friend's daughter. "Looks like you're going to be devoured by Martin tonight and wiped clean!"
Hannah Carmen continued clinging to Martin, narrowing her eyes and saying, "I'd be happy with that."
Then the conversation shifted to industry topics.
Will Smith said, "Martin, that actor you mentored, Wentworth Miller, came out. Did you know?"
"Miller?" Martin looked surprised.
Will Smith grinned mischievously. "Hey, little second, you didn't have a taste of him, did you?"
"F*ck no, I don't like men," Martin said angrily, then asked Will, "What exactly happened? When did he come out?"
"You really didn't know? It happened this month!" Will Smith said, surprised. "He admitted his same-sex attraction in a letter declining an invitation to the official festival of the Fortress of St. Peter International Film Festival."
"And this guy's same-sex scandals never stop. He was recently rumored to be dating the out actor Luke Macfarlane (Brothers & Sisters). These rumors have been circulating in the same-sex circles for a while."
At this point, Will Smith suddenly stopped, feeling he might have revealed too much, and quickly added, "I have a few friends in the circle who are same-sex attracted. I heard it from them."
Martin just smiled and said nothing.
Leonardo subtly shifted closer to Martin.
Will Smith quickly changed the subject: "Hey, Martin, I heard you're taking on the adaptation of DC's Suicide Squad into a movie?"
"You know? News travels fast!" Martin had to admit—Hollywood had no secrets.
"Are there any roles I could play?" Will Smith's tone became more cautious. His recent situation hadn't been great.
After Earth's poor box office performance had led to questions about his ability to carry a film.
He desperately needed a hit movie to bounce back.
And what movie could guarantee box office success better than a Martin Meyers film?!
This was also why he didn't want to waste a favor on his wife.
Such an important favor should be used on himself.
Martin glanced at Will. In the original timeline, Will had played the role of "Deadshot" in Suicide Squad. Although the film was a box office success, it didn't help Will Smith much. Instead, it boosted Margot Robbie, who played "Harley Quinn," into superstardom.
"Will, are you serious? This is an ensemble cast comedy, and in my plan, more screen time will be given to the 'Harley Quinn' character."
"No problem. I've been pretty free lately," Will Smith said with a bitter smile.
"Then I think the 'Deadshot' character would suit you well. He's also one of the characters I plan to give more screen time to in the film."
"Deadshot? I'll buy the comics and read it when I get back."
Then the conversation turned to Leonardo's new film, The Great Gatsby.
Speaking of The Great Gatsby, Martin asked about Tobey Maguire. (Tobey Maguire played Nick in The Great Gatsby.)
Martin: "Leo, how's Tobey been lately?"
Leonardo: "Not great."
Martin, surprised: "Wasn't that matter settled?"
Leonardo shook his head: "It's not about that incident—well, actually, it is related. Tobey paid a large sum of money he won from Bradley Ruderman, which left him financially strained. You know how he is—he's always been eager to gamble but not very enthusiastic about acting. He hasn't earned much in acting fees."
"So he's short on money?"
"Maintaining his personal life isn't a problem, but his wife isn't very happy about it."
"That globe-trotting princess?" Martin laughed and shook his head. "Who told Tobey to marry a girl from a high-society family? Girls like that won't stick with you through 'lean' times."
"Exactly!"
