Chapter 904: Scandal, The Real Target
Kim Kardashian's fiancé, Kanye West, was a male rapper, music producer, businessman, and fashion designer.
Of course, he was Black.
He'd been living with Kim Kardashian for nearly two years now. They'd gotten engaged at the beginning of the year and were set to tie the knot next April.
In the meantime, Kim Kardashian had given birth to four kids for Kanye West.
But this marriage wouldn't last forever.
On February 19, 2021, Kim Kardashian officially filed for divorce from Kanye West.
Speaking of Kanye West, we can't help but mention Kim Kardashian's ex-husband—Kris Humphries, that NBA chump of all chumps.
The guy entered the league in 2003 with Minnesota, snagging the 2003-04 Rookie of the Year award.
He was drafted into the NBA in 2004 and bounced around teams like the Jazz, Raptors, Mavericks, Nets, Celtics, Wizards, Suns, and Hawks.
Kris Humphries married Kim Kardashian on May 18, 2011, but that marriage lasted a whopping seventy-two days.
On November 4, 2011, Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries ended their brief union.
Over his fourteen-year NBA career, Kris Humphries raked in a total of 61.8 million USD, but in that short 72-day deep-dive marriage with Kardashian, Kris blew over 20 million bucks—about a third of his entire fourteen-year earnings.
Not even counting the pre-marriage splurges, just starting from the engagement ring.
In this lavish reality TV spectacle, Kris Humphries shelled out for a 20.5-carat engagement ring for Kardashian, worth a staggering 2 million dollars.
And the wedding expenses? They hit an eye-watering 10 million dollars—basically wiping out half of Humphries' after-tax salary from his career up to that point.
Beyond the massive wedding costs, during those 72 days of marriage, Kardashian's eating, drinking, and everything else was on Kris's tab, averaging about 277,000 dollars a day.
From that angle, Kris Humphries really was head over heels for Kardashian, sparing no expense in cash or energy to satisfy her every material and emotional desire.
But the funniest part? After 72 days, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce, citing that Kris was too tall and living with him gave her claustrophobia.
After a year and a half of wrangling, Humphries caved, forgoing a 7-million-dollar settlement to agree to the divorce.
In other words, during those 72 days, to win the beauty's heart, Humphries was shelling out an average of 139,000 dollars a day.
Years later, Kim Kardashian admitted on her reality show that she really owed Humphries an apology.
After being dumped by Kim Kardashian, Humphries said he'd become a laughingstock during that time—everywhere he went, it felt like people were mocking him.
By the way, after retiring, Kris Humphries became a real estate manager and fast-food franchise owner, enjoying the single life in Minnesota.
......
Kim Kardashian hung up on her fiancé and hummed her way toward her bedroom.
As she passed Kendall's room, she heard a phone call going on inside.
She instinctively paused, eavesdropped for a bit, and a flash of jealousy crossed her face. Sure enough, it was a call to Martin.
If the little girl had been a bit reluctant about cozying up to Martin before, now—after a few days of hanging out with him—she was totally into it.
Kim Kardashian had to admit, Martin's charm was overpower. Forget her sister—even she herself had nearly thrown herself at him a few times.
If she hadn't already known Martin wasn't into her type, she might've done it.
Ah, whatever. Her main scene was still with the Black crowd anyway. Having one Kendall in the family as a white guy's girl was enough.
...
"I hear you've been dating that New York socialite lately?"
On the set of Earth's Allure, Sofia Coppola was teasing Martin.
Martin gave a wry smile but didn't get a chance to respond before Jessica chimed in from the side: "Pfft, as if Martin would go for that big-ass weirdo."
"Oh yeah? Then what's with all the recent gossip?" Sofia asked, a bit curious.
"This big ol' playboy Martin's got his eye on her little sister," Jessica spilled.
"Ah, got it." Sofia nodded, then asked, "Which sister? The Kardashian one or the Jenner one?"
"Jenner."
"Oh, yeah, that's a pretty girl alright."
"Alright, alright, enough chit-chat—let's get back to filming." Martin had discovered that women really were gossip machines; even a talented beauty like Sofia was no exception.
......
Time flew by, and suddenly it was the end of July.
Filming for Gravity was wrapping up.
One day, Kim Kardashian tracked down Martin.
"Martin, for this season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, we're thinking of filming an episode out at sea. Mind if we borrow that yacht of yours?"
"Which one?"
Martin had just bought an even fancier, more advanced yacht a while back—it had been built and delivered earlier this year.
"The Black Pearl one."
"Sure."
"Ah, thanks—we'll pay for it."
"You can hash that out with the Diamond Yacht Club; my yachts are registered with them."
Martin wasn't dumb enough to turn down payment, of course. They were borrowing his yacht to film a reality show, which they'd sell to a network and rake in big bucks for the sisters.
Plus, taking the yacht out once burned six figures in fuel alone—why should he foot the bill to line the Kardashians' pockets?
He wasn't some sucker like Kris Humphries.
"Oh, and Kendall says she misses you. How about you join us for this episode's filming? It'd be a perfect chance to vacation with Kendall. I hear your movie's almost wrapped."
Martin chuckled. "Filming the show? Nah. Kendall can skip this episode—I'll take her to that little private island I bought in the Caribbean for a getaway."
"Ah, alright." A bit disappointed she couldn't lure Martin onto her show, Kim Kardashian deflated.
Her eyes darted as an idea hit her. "Kendall's only sixteen, so she'll need a guardian along—"
She'd been planning to angle for a chance to film her show on his private island too.
But catching Martin's knowing, half-smiling look, she quickly clamped down on the rest of the sentence.
Remembering this guy wasn't some love-struck idiot like Kris Humphries—he was one of the sharpest people in the world.
She hurriedly swallowed the rest of her words.
