Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi

Chapter 414: Starting the Third Meeting (6)

The academicians and others quietly listened and couldn't help but secretly give Ye Nai a thumbs up.

Look at this skill of painting a picture with words.

However, they wouldn't oppose it. Their task was to cultivate mushrooms and arrange for the locals to appoint the new mayor; they wouldn't get involved. If the cooperation went well in the future, they might really support this village chief to become the new mayor.

And the reason they didn't leave, but rather stayed here to listen to Ye Nai talk, was to verify how well they had learned the Otherworld language and how much they could understand.

After listening to so much, they found that the Translation Mushroom was indeed effective. Ye Nai spoke with the village chief at length, and they understood it all.

After finishing the conversation with the village chief, Ye Nai turned to ask the crowd if they wanted to wander around the village with the villagers now.

In the future, as work progresses, the Military Fortress and the village will be two frequently visited places.

The academicians happily agreed and formed four groups, each led by their own students and security personnel.

The village chief also found four eloquent village women to act as guides, each leading a group, and when they returned, they would receive a bamboo tube of white sugar from Ye Nai.

Just before stepping out of the shelter, they realized that a silent drizzle had started outside, just enough to require an umbrella.

Luckily, the simple raincoats placed by the door for anyone to take came in handy.

While they were putting on the raincoats, the village women saw that the rain wasn't heavy and swiftly ran home to bring their rain gear, then returned to take the guests on the tour.

Ye Nai didn't go. Instead, she took out her kitchen utensils, boiled water, and made ginger tea, asking the village chief to bring their own bowls for everyone to drink when they returned.

A big pot of ginger tea was simmering on the large stove, its spicy aroma attracting villagers who came out in the rain to have a look.

Ye Nai generously allowed them to bring their own bowls and join in for some tea.

As more people gathered, the village chief took the opportunity to repeat Ye Nai's prior instructions to the villagers.

No matter the age, villagers nodded repeatedly, swearing that they would keep tight-lipped and say nothing outside.

Before long, the rain outside began to intensify, and the academicians gradually returned, their simple raincoats covering most of their bodies, though their pant legs and shoes were still wet.

"Come, quickly, have a bowl of ginger tea first."

There was a whole box of disposable paper bowls on the table. After discarding the raincoats into the trash bin, as they took turns serving tea, troop transport vehicles drove into the shelter, and the deputy director and others disembarked one by one.

Ye Nai continued to invite them to drink the ginger tea she had made in the commercial soup pot, despite the villagers having drunk some, there was still enough left for everyone present to have a bowl.

"The rain is getting heavier. How about we put the vehicles away and use the Transmission Port to go to the manor house in the Knight Territory for a rest?"

This chapter was originally posted on M^VLEMPYR.

Ye Nai suggested to the group, mainly looking at the deputy director and the Defense Director.

"Alright, let's do that."

Thus, those responsible for security outside the shelter came inside, and the Big Space User in the group put away all five vehicles.

Ye Nai opened the Transmission Port, directly accessing the spacious foyer of the manor house in the Knight Manor.

She first took the security personnel across to confirm safety, then the deputy director and others followed with their ginger tea in hand, while Ye Nai went back to collect the shelter and belongings, settling the rewards for the villagers who had acted as guides.

When she returned to the manor house, she found everyone already exploring around upstairs and downstairs.

It was raining here too, even heavier than in Beigen Village. Through the living room window, Ye Nai saw an armored troop transport flash by.

Apparently, they were taking advantage of the rain to thoroughly scout the manor grounds.

As people descended from upstairs, they all marveled; truly worthy of the nobles, even a knight had such a vast manor.

Some discussed how to renovate the house, connect water and electricity, and add toilets—this old-fashioned house didn't even have an outhouse.

Others approached Ye Nai for a chat.

"Leaving the house like this, aren't you afraid that homeless wanderers will occupy it?"

"No, the outskirts of the manor are already laid with layers of restrictions. Without me bringing you in, outsiders entering will face divine punishment."

"...Huh? What divine punishment?"

"Stomach pain."

"???"

The other person was bewildered, their mind filled with question marks.

Ye Nai smiled without saying a word.

At this moment, a staff from the logistics department found Ye Nai, and the two moved to a corner to talk quietly, exchanging phone numbers.

After chatting for a while, the staff discussed with Ye Nai that after finishing the visit here, they should go to a logistics department post and open two Transmission Ports—one direct to this manor, the other to the East Ridge Secret Realm.

"When we return to Blue Star, shall I travel with your vehicle?"

"Yes."

"Great, is there anywhere else to visit on this trip?"

"I don't know, but I know the logistics department needs you."

"Oh, because I thought after you settle the prisoners, the Staff Department will send people for interrogations, and they might need to open a Transmission Port too."

"If the Staff Department needs an independent Transmission Port, they will contact you. Moreover, the Combat Department agreed to give you a new vehicle; the procedures are all done, just in time to pick it up."

"Hey, that's right. So, what do you need? Do you need Translation Mushrooms?"

"Yes, exchange for points; fifty points for one pound."

"Okay. What about the points for the prisoners?"

The staff took out a mobile phone from their pocket, opened a previously saved document.

"I'll send you a table. We've categorized the prisoners by age, gender, noble rank, and once the prisoner camp is established and the population census is done, we'll calculate your points."

"Alright."

Ye Nai took out her phone, and they exchanged files face-to-face, each then closing their eyes to rest.

After more than half an hour, having thoroughly explored the manor house upstairs and downstairs, the deputy director and others returned to the living room one after another. Outside the window, the troop transport vehicles also returned.

"Alright, we should head back, today's gains were substantial." The deputy director of the Administration Bureau patted his leg and rose from the sofa.

"What a pity about the weather, we couldn't take a walk outside." The Defense Director looked at the torrential rain outside the window, expressing slight regret.

"Once the renovations here are complete, and the water and electricity are available, come back on a sunny day," Ye Nai teased, "it'll be convenient for you to visit here."

"Hey, that's true."

No kidding, if the Defense Director wanted to inspect his new territory, it would indeed be more convenient for him than for others.

Seeing that everyone had gathered in the living room and outside the foyer, Ye Nai opened the Transmission Port. As always, she crossed first, followed by the security, and then everyone else, transferring the whole group within a minute.

The other side of the Transmission Port happened to be where they had previously set off—a simple meeting room in the project group's designated laboratory.

"Whoa, we're back already."

"Space Transmission is truly marvelous."

"It's still early."

"The time difference between Otherworld and Blue Star is huge—being over there for a few days is only a few hours here. Tsk tsk, this could be quite interesting if tourism gets developed in the future."

"Yes, it's indeed early, just in time for lunch," the deputy director laughed.
