Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi

Chapter 366: Arriving at the Frontline Commander's Headquarters

The warriors who had lost personal belongings due to the mudslide received new wristbands, allowing them to check their monthly allowances and make payments via QR codes.

Compared to individuals having cash in hand, the regiment's public account only had supplies, not cash.

After all, it was still the front line, and civilian equipment communication was restricted. Ye Nai's phone remained a brick, unable to open any web pages or apps, just playing around with a card-insert handheld console.

As the small business was going well, the sound of helicopter rotors came from above.

An armed transport helicopter flew over the canteen roof, heading toward the helipad.

The warriors who wanted to buy cigarettes quickly completed their transactions. Shortly after, a vehicle came to pick up Ye Nai and took her directly to the helipad.

Deputy Commander He Zan was there, and the two quickly shook hands and exchanged phone numbers. Ye Nai gave him a bag of delicious fruit from the Otherworld and was then sent onto the plane.

Watching the plane take off, everyone on the ground felt relieved.

As long as she was sent off safely, all was well.

He Zan happily hugged the fruit and returned to the office to taste one.

Ye Nai sat in the spacious rear seat of the cabin; aside from the two pilots up front, it was empty with just her as the passenger.

The helicopter flew at a low altitude and slow speed, able to make a round trip in just over two hours, indicating that the command center was quite close to the front line.

During the first half-hour, Ye Nai was interested in looking out the window at the scenery below.

From up high, many towering Secret Realm portals could be seen, and the helicopter's flight path had to avoid those areas.

According to Dipul, the massive outlines of these portals are fake, part of deception tactics, but they still cause spatial imbalance.

From the ground up, the top end of the portal seemed still far off from the high altitude, but it did affect the safety of high-altitude aircraft.

All precision instruments malfunction when near, rendering civilian and military aircraft unable to fly, leaving existing air routes to be tested by high-altitude drones.

Wherever a plane crashed, that location became impassable.

Countless drones crashed, but eventually a few usable long-distance routes were discovered.

Aside from the scarcely available long routes, others became reliant on low-altitude, low-speed helicopters, making them costly. Ordinary civilians no longer chose to fly, mostly opting for cars and trains, with many not traveling far due to expensive transportation costs.

Understanding the current situation, Ye Nai sat down properly and took out her game console to continue the unfinished game.

Over two hours later, Ye Nai saw the command center's building.

People were already waiting beside the helipad to pick her up, quickly driving her to the logistics department for settlement.

The border enemy-killing mission that could have been submitted here wasn't processed; she was instructed to handle it at Daijing, but when she would depart was unclear, as the logistics team was also confused. Their orders were merely to settle accounts from True Dragon Gully for Ye Nai, not to arrange civilian helicopter transport, with no other information provided.

Ye Nai was full of doubts. She initially thought the urgency at True Dragon Gully and command center hinted she would be sent off immediately upon landing, but now it seemed different from what she expected?

Yet, she understood the changing conditions; someone at Daijing might be eager to meet her, unsure of her return time, possibly arranging route coordination in advance. But she, as a civilian, wasn't entitled to temporarily use aviation routes.

Now aware of her return, it would take time for others to re-coordinate routes, possibly forcing her to stay at the command center for days?

As logistics staff knew nothing else, Ye Nai didn't press them further.

The settlement process was swift; she quickly presented the amount of supplies she carried, with detailed listings, resulting in immediate valuation and transaction completion.

The logistics department's phone usage was also heavily restricted, only allowing basic communications without internet access or data.

Ye Nai didn't mind, as receiving text messages sufficed for her.

After completing the transaction, Ye Nai was once again escorted outside and sent to the waiting vehicle for transport to the canteen.

She waited in a small private room upstairs for dinner.

Casually asking if internet data could be used within the canteen, she was informed it was possible, prompting her to eagerly bring out her phone.

At that moment, she was eager to browse videos, check gossip, and enjoy the online world after more than a month of absence.

Unlocking her phone with a password, she stared at the software on the main page, momentarily unsure which to open.

On Blue Star, only over a month had passed, but calculated in Otherworld time, it had been over four years. During such a long period without using a phone, she found herself incredibly unfamiliar with phone operations.

She first opened the shopping app, curious to see what new products were available.

In her experience, she had been traveling outside for years, yet the recommended products seemed unchanged, as if new products hadn't been released.

But merely browsing without buying was still satisfying, especially since her phone hadn't been touched for over a month in Blue Star time, displaying a genuine variety of products unlike her previous shopping preferences, including groceries, apparel, daily essentials, with varying sales and reviews, utterly irregular.

Ye Nai clicked into the clothing section, browsing store by store, regardless of whether the clothes suited her, she still savored the viewing experience.

While in the Otherworld, running around for four years, to save on clothing she even wore local clothing.

Of course, she had sourced her own materials, never short on funds, buying various fabrics for Otherworldly people to make clothes, with size fitting her like a local child, indifferent about craftsmanship as long as they fit.

Thus, scrolling through shopping apps alone took up more than an hour, forgetting her initial intention to watch short videos.

She had landed already at around three, nearing four; after browsing, it turned five, almost six, approaching dinner time.

Ye Nai put away her phone, stepped out of the small room to stretch her legs, and checked whether her dinner was to be delivered or if she needed to go downstairs.

Peering downstairs, people were gradually arriving for dinner.

As she approached the meal-serving window, a small group entered the canteen, including soldiers who had driven her earlier, plus several uniformed military personnel laden with medals and stars, visibly senior leaders.

Ye Nai swiftly moved aside, ready to give them space.

Her motion unexpectedly drew the group's attention toward her.

"Hey? Is that Ye Nai? Come, come. We're about to invite you for dinner."

This group initially appeared stern, but upon spotting a young, short-haired girl clad in civilian attire among soldiers, they immediately recalled her from photographs.
