Chapter 364: Returned to the Country, Returned to the Country
The spores released before leaving yesterday hadn't grown in vain over those hours. The army returning after battle, with captives and spoils, was entirely knocked down upon stepping into the camp, awaiting Ye Nai's decision.
As usual, pick out the ones dressed as officers, place them in different fungus compartments within the space, and then open the transmission port leading into the country's heartland to continue plundering.
Plundering enemy resources is, without a doubt, tricky at first, with the topsy-turvy nature of seasons and time differences being quite unsettling.
Luckily, the Awakener's body has a formidable adaptability, and once the rhythm is found, everything becomes seamless.
With so many transmission ports in Ye Nai's possession, dividing them over thirty days, she has calculated exactly how many to visit each day.
Even crossing the sea poses no challenge for her.
These enemy countries, which have a foothold on Blue Star, all have cross-border transmission platforms connecting to their homeland. As long as Ye Nai seizes the transmission platform in their homeland, she can reach straight into their core territories on Blue Star.
None can escape.
During this process, she witnessed the great seas of the two worlds, discovered shipwrecks still drifting on the sea surface, marked various mineral resources in the Otherworld, and saw the continent being ravaged by an unknown virus, with patients bleeding profusely during infection outbreaks.
Ye Nai primarily focused on traversing both planets to seize transmission platforms. If she were lucky enough to encounter a Great Wizard, she'd take them as well.
Meanwhile, she exercised restraint, not taking too much, preferring to maintain her transportation routes on both planets.
She refrained from disrupting any ruling class, and even left the Alkinte Empire untouched, enjoying the scenery, locating minerals, and only plundering during their autumn harvest before departing.
Such minor mischief, rather than major actions, proved extremely vexing to her foes. Although the countries of the Otherworld knew there was an enemy on their turf, no one managed to apprehend her.
Ye Nai was acutely aware that doing too much would inevitably leave an impression on the higher-ups that she acted recklessly and capriciously. After all, truth be told, if she could do it once, she could do it innumerable times; if she could mess with others, she could mess with her own people.
Who wouldn't fear that?
It wasn't necessary; she still aspired to earn money and enjoy life after the war without being labeled as a dangerous individual needing extra surveillance.
She was an honest, law-abiding person, so doing it once was enough. Those who understood would naturally understand, leaving subsequent tasks to others.
After running around for a month according to Blue Star time, by the end of July, Ye Nai emptied the captives from the space for the last time, preparing to return home.
About this past month, the captives gradually seized in the Secret Realm were initially restless in the first few days, contemplating escape by any means, but they soon behaved and stopped causing trouble.
Misbehavior was futile; the terrifying Great Witch had placed an unknown formidable constraint on them, causing excruciating pain whenever they got excited. After a few rounds of that, even the most defiant ones would comply.
Before officially heading back, she planned to visit the Military Fortress No.5 of Selsa Country, located outside the northeast border of Dahua Country, as it marked the start of her adventures in the Otherworld.
Returning for good meant she wouldn't be back anytime soon, so she needed to ensure everything was fine here.
Appearing quietly in the mountain forest outside Military Fortress No.5, the pervasive spores quickly pinpointed the fortress's location for her.
Ye Nai descended the mountain in big strides, soon seeing natives chopping wood with reliable and easy-to-use chainsaws. Their complexion and physique seemed to have significantly improved, looking nutritiously replenished compared to the frail, downtrodden look they had when she first saw them.
More noticeably, regardless of gender, they all wore green camouflage with liberation shoes.
"Whoa..."
Ye Nai couldn't help but let out a low exclamation; this was undoubtedly a familiar combination.
About to pretend not to see them and turn back to the forest.
Unexpectedly, just as she turned, a shout exploded from behind.
"Stop!"
Ye Nai assumed that it surely wasn't directed at her and took two more steps.
The voice behind called out again, this time closer.
"Ye Nai! I told you to stop, and you still run!"
Now that they called her name, pretending not to hear would be poor form. Reluctantly, Ye Nai stopped and slowly turned around.
A warrior, looking familiar, was running towards her. During the mudslide days, the whole camp passed by her frequently, making everyone look familiar to her.
Familiarity indicated they were soldiers from the True Dragon Gully camp.
"Hey, long time no see. You've moved your position here? Everything went smoothly? Come on, have a smoke, have a smoke."
Pretending nothing was amiss, Ye Nai greeted them cheerfully, pulling out a cigarette box, thinking it was open, but finding it new, she shoved the whole thing into his hand.
He accepted the cigarettes, shoving them into his pocket, pulling Ye Nai down the mountain.
"Let's go, let's go, take a rest. Everyone misses you so much. How come you popped out from the mountain?"
"Back to submit my mission, I guessed the direction right," Ye Nai replied.
"Indeed, your sense of direction is commendable."
"How long have you been here?"
"A month." He glanced back at her, "When we arrived here, it was desolate, apart from some starving natives, not a single enemy from the Otherworld. You're amazing."
"Of course, they were all my points." Being pulled along, Ye Nai's steps were nonetheless unwavering. "But you guys moved fast too, I left, and you followed right behind, keeping an eye here daily, huh?"
"Indeed, every other day without checking, I feel uneasy."
"Checking? Just here?" Ye Nai probed.
"Hehehehe~"
Though dismissed with laughter, Ye Nai immediately understood that personnel had been stationed at all four military fortresses.
"Let's go, the deputy regimental commander is here, you can have a good chat when you meet."
"The deputy regimental commander quite free? Waiting for me here? What if I never showed up here? Or just bypassed here and went back?" Ye Nai questioned doubtfully.
"No worries, he's not idle here, the regiment commander is in the main camp, this is the sub camp, and the deputy commander is kept quite busy. If you stop by, that'd be great; if you go straight back, it wasn't in vain. We've been quite productive this month."
"Thank you for the hard work."
Talking as they swiftly reached the mountain foot,
Originally, there was just a dirt path made by trampling, now with evident traces of being smoothed by a roller multiple times, forming a solid dirt road.
Vehicles busying back and forth on the road painted a scene of bustling activity.
Wood chopped by the natives was all transported back by dedicated trucks, no longer needing them to return it to the city manually.
The busy warriors, seeing Ye Nai appear, cheered and surrounded her.
