Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 713: Final Round: 1vs25 (End)

--

Fabros warily stared at Cedric.

His posture was taut, armed to respond to any hostile movement in a heartbeat, all while he's helping the rest of his teammates regain their freedom.

Cedric didn't do anything. He just stood still and allowed all of this to happen. He's neither burdened nor concerned. If anything, it would seem that he's even looking forward to it.

Obviously, Fabros knew this. The idea hurts, but it's the truth he had to live in. He didn't like the possibility of gaining some cheap victory, but if it's the only way out, he'd take it.

Soon, the rest of his teammates were freed. His actions didn't go over their heads; the first thing they did was to thank him, and then they stood with him against Cedric.

Now, the top 10 was back in action. No longer restrained to their helpless and miserable end. Victory was still nowhere near their sights, but there's nothing else they could do other than to fight for it, no matter how bleak it might seem.

"Ready?" Fabros asked the rest. And they all collectively nodded.

Then, at his signal, they all attacked again.

Boom!

All ten of them turned into streaks of light, charging at Cedric at blistering speeds, leaving the earth beneath them cracked and shattered due to their sheer strength.

Fabros led the charge with his sword. He was the fastest and the deadliest among the ten. His blade flashed with a deep crimson color as it sliced through the air, leaving pools of sanguine blood in his wake, which crackled with black thunder.

With a fierce glare and a determined heart, he cleaved at Cedric. He wasn't holding anything back because he couldn't afford to.

Cedric received his blow with a perfectly timed block. The weight and the elements of Fabros' sword were deadly, yet they posed no real threat to him. With a slight adjustment, he guided the blade away and borrowed the momentum to launch a counterattack.

It happened so fast that Fabros' senses screamed in alarm, telling him that it's too late to do anything and that he's going to die.

But before the edge of Cedric's sword reached him, a shadow appeared to interfere. With daggers akin to vipers, the shadow struck at Cedric's blade, knocking it up and forcing him to miss Fabros' body.

Cedric saw this coming; that's why he didn't fully commit to the attack. Once again, he rode the momentum, twisting his body to redirect the force for another attack.

But, once again, before he could even finish another attack, someone else interfered to stop him.

Runes flickered underneath Cedric's, stunning him in place. It didn't even last for more than a second, but it's enough for both Fabros and the shadow to retreat to safety.

Cedric glanced at Mrs. Caster, who interfered just now. The rune she tossed on him wasn't really a big deal, but it's still impressive nonetheless.

Then, he casually swung his sword to shatter the rain of glaciers sent by none other than Winter. Which was then followed by a volcanic eruption courtesy of Pyroblast.

The glaciers didn't hit since they're all cleaved before they could even reach him. As for the volcanic eruption, it was ignored simply because it's too weak. This temperature was nowhere near enough to even singe his clothes, much less do anything remotely close to hurting him.

Jade Warlord challenged him next, all in his full-garbed and armored glory, guided by an ancestral spirit behind him.

He took advantage of the spear's reach and his incredible expertise on it, plus the mighty force of his cultivation. Yet even with all of these advantages, Cedric was simply way better than him.

Cedric effortlessly parried his attack in a way that also forced him to move closer, bringing him within the absolute range of Cedric's sword. Since he fully committed to his attack, it'd be too late for him to draw his spear back.

But once again, another one interfered, and it's Giant Axe Andrew this time.

With all of his manly and brutal form, Andrew cleaved at Cedric as if he were a tree that needed to be felled in one swing. Cedric smiled, twisted his grip on his sword, and swung at the incoming axe, diverting its direction to the earth instead, causing it to be unable to reach him.

Then again, as he's about to attack Andrew, another one interferes...

This was how the fight went on now and earlier as well. Everybody was teaming up against him, which made complete sense given the mechanics of this final round.

And once again, Cedric proved that he's a true master of his craft and skills. Even with multiple people besieging him, he was relaxed and at ease.

The top 10 wasn't weak in any aspect. Everybody knows this, and it's clear for them to see. But even with their overwhelming strength combined, they failed to land even one single bruise or injury on Cedric.

Sure, they are managing to prevent him from killing them, but how long can they keep this up? Because the longer this goes, it becomes increasingly clear that Cedric could do this forever.

Tiring him out? Is that even possible? When there were still more than twenty of them attacking him all at the same time, Cedric remained at ease. It was far more hectic for him then, much less now that there were only ten of them left. They didn't tire him out back then, so how could they possibly think of doing it with lesser numbers now?

Sure, one could argue that the top 10 were more decisive and serious this time around, but even with that, all they could do is to pressure Cedric into a point as if he's fighting more than 20 people again. And they all know how that went.

So what's the real goal here? Are they even going in the right direction?

Nobody could answer that. Well...they could, but they wouldn't. They know the answer, and it's not pretty, so it shouldn't be said.

Sigh...

That sigh came from Cedric. And it's accompanied by a strange force that stilled the world once more. Not deliberately but naturally. It's as if they finally pestered the beast to truly wake up from his slumber, and now, they had to deal with the consequences of that.

"I'm tired of this."

They all heard him say it, his face going completely indifferent and his voice sending shivers down their spines.

"If any of you survives my next attack, it's your win. I just want this to be over."

They believed that they should be glad for that, but they all knew better. This wasn't Cedric showing mercy to them. It's him revealing just how wide the real gap was between him and them.

The top 10 watched as, for the first time, Cedric went on a stance.

Just from that alone, they sensed a large shift in the atmosphere. Everything stilled, even time and space did. Everything stopped and watched with bated breaths to see what he's about to do next.

And right before their very eyes, Cedrid's silhouette was replaced by a humongous sword.

Its length was so long that none of them could even see its guard or handle. It's also so wide and immense that it completely filled their vision.

The sword was diagonal with the tip aimed at them and the world, following the orientation of how Cedric held the sword in his hand.

Sensing the sharpness condensed at the blade, especially at the top of that humongous sword, the top 10 were greatly alarmed.

Their faces blanched, and they felt the threat of death looming over them. Primal fear erupted from the depths of their soul, one that refused to go away no matter how hard they tried.

There were no doubts in their hearts; they're all going to die from this sword.

It's their unwillingness and stubbornness that refused to accept this reality and forced them to defend and fight for a last chance of survival. They couldn't even remember the conditions set by Cedric at all. They just wanted to live.

And Cedric, for all intents and purposes, held his stance. He waited until they were done with their combined efforts to receive his sword. And when he saw that they couldn't come up with anything better, he pushed his sword down.

Swish!

The top 10 watched in disbelief as the sword passed through them.

Layers upon layers of combined and personal defenses were reduced to nothing but smoke under the sharpness of that sword. Their defenses were pierced through so easily, as if they were made out of paper.

It wasn't even capable of resisting. Their defenses didn't break or collapse; they were pierced. The humongous sword slid past it like a hot knife through butter.

Disbelief was their last thought before the sharpness of the sword consumed them whole.

All their effort, hard work, and determination amounted to nothing in the end, rendered meaningless in front of the overwhelming might and disparity between them and Cedric.

By the end of it, Cedric remained the only person standing in the ruined battlefield. And his heroic figure was emphasized with the large sign spelling out his victory hovering above his head.
