Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 634: Deeper Synchronization

--

Before being forced to flee to the Death Zone, Cade's plan was to do another elaborate scheme.

He wanted to go to a smaller and weaker civilization, open a life-evolver school, and take advantage of people again. He had a specific target in mind. He's heard some rumors about a unique phenomenon happening to a small planet called 'Felion.' The descriptions he heard reminded him of old yet explosive news about an Immortal dying, and he discovered that it is very likely that Felion is where this Immortal's inheritance fell.

His belief was supported because he'd heard that the citizens of Felion had grown considerably stronger after experiencing the phenomenon.

Cade believed that they don't deserve that kind of fortune. He's the true deserving one because he's the only one who discovered the clues and put them together.

His entitlement sure is staggering...

After investigating, he hatched a plan. He will infiltrate the largest evolver academy at Felion, kill and take over the identity of its headmaster, and use false investments to make people indebted to him while he silently takes all the inheritance for himself. After that, he'd leave that backward place and find another place to plunder.

He felt no remorse at the callousness of his plan. In fact, he even wanted to destroy Felion to erase any evidence that might expose him.

Alas, Cade's luck has run out. Before he could even start his plan, that guy, Oliver, exposed him completely, forcing him here. And because his intelligence had long been eroded by greed and sin, he courted his own death.

But this was only one of the reasons why Cade's storages were filled with crates of treasures. Most of these were, in fact, 'stolen' from their proper owners.

'Stolen' in a way that is intercepted. Cade got in their way before these treasures fell into their hands. He hadn't 'officially' stolen them, but there's practically no difference.

Well, Cedric didn't really feel too heavy about this. He's neither a saint to 'return' these things to their 'rightful owners.' Their inability to deal with Cade's machinations had nothing to do with him. It's Cedric's own fortune and skills that made these things fall into his hands, and he's not that generous or noble to return them just because they were stolen goods.

Aside from this, Cade's memories contain a surprising wealth of information too...

From his memories, Cedric was able to become more familiar with the Dark Star Cosmic Domain. He's remembered locations, points of interest, local organizations, vistas, secret realms filled with opportunities, popular events, etc.

Cade's greed is what compelled him to know more about the world. Because in order to steal or intercept opportunities from their rightful owners, Cade had to know where to go first; he had to scheme ahead and make sure that his moves were clean and decisive. That's why he pays close attention to pretty much everything, no matter how big or small.

Even his sinister plans and schemes had value to Cedric, because Cade really planned way ahead of himself and everybody, enough to gain Cedric's admiration.

Alas, he forgot one of the fundamental truths of the world: in the face of overwhelming strength, all schemes are meaningless.

All that planning went down the drain because he became too confident. All his plans evaporated into nothingness in front of the Space Whale. Even his backup plan was rendered useless because he met Cedric, who's way beyond his league.

Still, for all his flaws, Cade was one hell of a guy for lasting this long. Anyone could call him evil, but they can never call him weak.

**

More years passed by, and Cedric continued with his exploration and training.

The deeper he synchronized with the Primitive Universe, the more complete he felt. It's like a sublimation of his life. Even though Cedric felt this through a clone, there isn't much of a difference.

It also made the flaws of his world more glaring to him, though. Alas, he couldn't really do anything about that for now.

By now, Cedric's strength has reached the genuine Cosmic Grandmaster Realm.

He initially thought that the more he synchronized with the Primitive Universe, the slower this process would go, but the opposite was happening, actually.

Cedric assumed that this was because his knowledge and comprehension of the concept of laws were growing deeper.

He already realized his difference compared to most humans of this universe. They can't just casually sit down and stare at the concept law structures to comprehend them like he could. It either comes to them or it doesn't. Some rare resources and pieces of technology might help them achieve this, but it can never be as casual as Cedric could.

His progress was fast, and it will only become even faster the more he comprehends the concept of the laws of the Primitive Universe.

Right now, Cedric's concept law comprehension mastery should look like this:

[Fire Laws—Perfection at a Fundamental Level.]

[Sword Laws and Runic Laws—Great Mastery at Fundamental Level.]

[Space and Time Laws—Great Mastery and Fundamental Level.]

[The rest of the five elements - Great Mastery Level.]

[Other Concept Laws—Basic Proficiency Level]

Cedric was just lacking that one spark for his Fire Laws to turn from a fundamental law to a great law.

Despite being this close, though, the gap was overwhelming. Even with his ability to just casually peer through the structure of concept laws to directly comprehend them, the structural image of Great Laws remains blurry to him. As for the Heavenly Laws and Primal Chaos Laws? Forget it. He's not yet qualified to look at them directly.

One thing to note is that Cedric mainly focused on Fire, Sword, and Runic Laws.

He's not an arrogant fool to think that he could comprehend every single concept and law there is like he did back home. Even with his qualifications, that's no different from a suicide.

The others came to him naturally. It wasn't forced or plotted; it was completely voluntary. Therefore, Cedric wouldn't bear any consequences for it.

Though, if others were to know that it's like this for him, they'd probably cry tears of blood from envy.

Most people spend their entire lives chasing desperately after concept laws, willing to sacrifice everything for a small chance of comprehending their infinite mystery, yet still fail miserably in the end.

If they discover Cedric casually being able to look directly at the structure of the concept laws without suffering any backlash, punishment, or consequences, they'd probably wage war with him with the intent of digging his eyes out.

In addition to his natural comprehension and unique ability, Cedric also benefitted from Cade.

See, Cade has these notes he stole from people he killed. Most of them contained insights into their concept of law comprehension. To evolvers, this was one of the most precious resources they could get because it could give them an inspiration that would help them understand concept laws better.

Cedric was no different. It's because of this that his comprehension about the rest of the five elements experienced a boost in growth.

Cade himself has never understood Earth Laws. He majored in gravity manipulation and planned on exploring the depths of Earth Laws from there. Alas, his qualifications were insufficient, so his personal insights were too little. But since he's Cade, he did what he does best. And that is to steal from others to make up for what he lacked.

In the end, his actions just benefitted Cedric greatly.

On another note...

Cedric's adventures had been equal parts thrilling and frightening.

There had been too many close calls as he'd like to admit, and most of them involved the Space Whale.

Due to how massive it was, it's practically impossible to completely avoid it. In fact, Cedric already knew that if he really wanted to leave this place, he'd probably have to walk on the Space Whale's body to reach the exit.

Being aware of its presence made Cedric cautious. He really didn't want to disturb its slumber. He didn't want to end up like poor Cade.

Alas, the other creatures here weren't as cautious as he was. It's like they've forgotten the true overlord of this Death Zone. They'd been making a lot of noise lately, and Cedric, due to his fear that the Space Whale would be woken up by their noise, was forced to silence them, leading to confrontations.

It wasn't all that bad, though. Both of his clones are still alive and thriving. Moreover, his combat skills were being honed sharply in these battles.

Even the weakest creature here could give the Void Prince a run for his money. Some of the stronger ones even directly made Cedric feel a threat to his life, and that's even with his clone facing them.

It's this crisis that pushed his realm and skills forward. And so, as dangerous as it was, Cedric used them as a whetstone to make himself stronger.

Cedric could feel it. He's not that far from discovering the exit to this Death Zone. But he wasn't in a hurry either. His plan was to become a genuine Immortal first before leaving; that way, he'd be more secure as he traveled the Primitive Universe.

But on this day, something strange happened within the Death Zone...
