Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 612: Chaos vs. Void

--

The womb, the very tool capable of giving birth to new void creatures, holding an incredible importance to void itself, was destroyed.

It wasn't hurt, injured, or damaged. It was outright destroyed, unable to be repaired, healed, or revived. All it took was a couple of well placed explosions and it was gone, just like that.

To say that the Void Prince was angry would be a severe understatement. He's never been so mad, so furious in his entire life.

As the smartest and most intelligent void creature there is, he obviously understands how vital the womb is to his kind. And in the similar spectrum, he also understands just how grievous this incident was. This wasn't just a problem, it's an existential crisis.

The worst part is that, despite trying everything he could, he still doesn't understand how exactly the womb exploded. He watched until its very last moment, hoping to figure out the reason why it's exploding like that, yet still ended up with nothing.

Now, the place where the womb used to be was now completely empty. It's all rubble in there, and even if they dug it, all they'd see was bits and pieces of the womb that would fade very soon.

What's more heartbreaking for the prince was that the unborn ones are all dying, and there's nothing he could do to save them. There were lucky ones who hatched just before the womb exploded, and they might as well be the last void creatures that'd be around for a while.

This was a complete and utter disaster, one that the Void Prince never saw coming...

But through the haze and mystery behind the explosion of the womb, the Void Prince had a target.

"PRIMORDIAL CHAOS!!! DAMN YOU!!" He snarled, shattering the stone bed in his fury.

More specifically, he blamed the children of them primordial chaos for this. No, he doesn't have any proof behind his accusations. He did not see or sense any of them coming even remotely close to this place. In his mind, he knew that none of them will dare because this place was naturally hostile to them. Being exposed to the atmosphere around this area will result in their deaths, immediately. He knows this.

But at this point? Who else can it be?

The other void creatures, the ones that are beneath him, surely aren't capable of this kind of thing. They're all simple minded creatures. And even if they aren't, who would stupidly cripple their longevity like this? For what? Rebellion? That wouldn't make sense!

So, it could only be the children of Primordial Chaos who did this. As for how they did it, hell if he knew! Up until the very last moment of the womb's existence, even the Void Prince himself doesn't understand, and it doesn't matter anymore since it's gone.

Taking a deep breath to recover from the haze of his fury, the Void Prince later then looked at the origin of his birth - the Origin Womb, where he knew the main consciousness of the void resides.

Seeing it's stillness, a trace of disappointment flickered within him. It's silence and indifference chilled his heart. How could it not show even a slightest bit of concern to what was happening just now?

Chewing on his frustrations, he once again approached the womb. He knelt down, swallowed his pride, anger, unease, and all else, maintaining only politeness and respect on the surface as he called out:

"Lord Mother...I'm in need of your guidance."

"..."

"The Womb...it's gone. I don't know how but the children of Primordial Chaos got to it and destroyed it. The longevity of my kind is at great risk."

"..."

"Our unborn are dead. We need you more than ever. Please, bestow me guidance so that I can lead them to the right direction. Something, anything...please!"

"..."

"..."

"...Lord Mother?"

Still nothing. The Void Prince couldn't grovel any deeper than he already is, yet even with his heartfelt and heartbroken plea, all he got was cold and indifferent silence.

Biting his lips so hard that it bled, the Void Prince roared and started throwing tantrums. His destructive aura flared ominously causing his room to groan dangerously due to the weight of his animosity.

But even with his blantant disrespectful attitude, all he got was silence. And that hurt more than anything because it made him think that they've been abandoned by their creator.

The idea itself was maddening. Wasn't he created for the sole purpose of realizing his creator's will? Wasn't he its precious child? One that it had spent so much effort to make and care for? Where is that now? What happened? What did he do for it to ignore him like this? If it could just say something, he would certainly give it an explanation and would promise to never do it again, just so that it wouldn't abandon them.

But...nothing...there's absolutely nothing. All he got was just pure silence. And that scared the Void Prince more than anything.

"...or maybe, this is your test to me? To prove my abilities?" The Void Prince's mind began spiralling, feeding him delusions to cope with his abandonment issues.

"..."

"It is, right? You were disappointed at me for taking so long to destroy the Primordial Chaos and this is your punishment."

"..."

"Ahaha! I get it! I really do! I understand!"

"..."

"This is your test. It now the time for me to prove that your efforts to create me are not wasted. You want me to display my abilities and give you result! I understand! Haha! I get it now!"

The womb in front of him shook ever-so-slightly. It was so faint that it might as well never happened, but the Void Prince saw it and took it as a sign that his speculations were indeed on point.

This made him relax. Finally, at the very least, there was something he could work with.

The idea of its creator abandoning him dissolved in his mind, and so was his unease and fury. It was replaced by cold determination, one that sparked his ambition to dominate the Primordial Chaos all so that he could hear the voice of his creator once more.

"I shall do as you say, Lord Mother. Please wait for my good news. I will help you return everything to the Enternal Silence."

Alas, if only he knew that he got it all wrong...

The little shake he saw earlier wasn't his creator confirming his guesses, but an attempt to shake off the seal only to fail miserably. Unfortunately, the idea that there's someone capable of sealing away his creator was too outlandish and downright impossible to him that he wouldn't even dare to think of it.

**

"Well that was easier than I expected..."

Cedric couldn't help but doubt himself for a bit. If it weren't for the fact that he was completely focused during the entire operation, he would've sincerely doubted if he did everything correctly. But he did, it's just that everything happened according to his plans.

The entire process was smooth...too easy, even, making him second guess things.

But judging from the fluctuations he could feel coming from the heart of the void, he knew that everything went according to his plans.

"Oh well, that's good. Soon, a horde larger than anything we've ever faced before, should come. And the Void Prince should be leading it personally."

"Although he might not understand how it happened, he will automatically think that it was us who did it since we're his only enemy. And since he couldn't get any instructions from the main consciousness of the void, the only think he could do is to march to us with his army for a decisive war."

Both of Cedric's clone looked around at the busy soldiers around him, getting ready to face a horde unlike anything they've seen before.

"Without that particular womb, we can start shaving their numbers permanently. And with the main consciousness of the void sealed to the other side, it also can't help them."

"It wouldn't be able to use any of its powers to create another womb to replenish their numbers, it wouldn't even be able to give instructions to the Void Prince."

"This is our chance. A once in a lifetime chance to truly eradicate them."

"Soldiers are ready, my comrades are too...well, are clones are, that is."

"As for dealing with the main consciousness of the void, we can take care of that once the void creatures are extinct."

Truly, this was a 'now or never' scenario. The chance to get rid of the main evil that threatens to destroy their home was here so how could they be expected to remain indifferent?

The void has been a problem since the very beginning. It has claimed many innocent lives and threatened the realm enough times. This was no longer a simple agression, it's an existential threat.

Between the Void and the Primordial Chaos, only one can survive. And they'd be damned if, even after all this, they still couldn't resolve the threat of the void once and for all.

"Come on, Void Prince." Cedric muttered, "We're ready for you this time. Once you come here, don't ever think of returning."
