Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 510: The Ancient Era by the Wise Dragon

--

"...so, in the end, I was simply lucky to survive that since I never even thought that my skills alone were sufficient to refine the aspect of the void, but I had to try nonetheless, and it's only through my fusion with that orb of light that I learned and had the ability to turn it into nourishment for the birth of my Inner World."

The audience listened as Cedric explained his experience to them. A lot of people were frowning, clearly not expecting the story to turn out this way. Others thought it made sense and agreed that Cedric was indeed lucky to have survived this ordeal. Find exclusive stories on My Virtual Library Empire

Amongst them, the one that had the most colorful expression was the Wise Dragon Chancellor, who's practically vibrating on his seat, which was almost cute if it weren't for his stern and aged visage.

Listening to Cedric's experience was particularly enlightening to him, and if there's anybody here who completely believed this story, it would be none other than him.

"I see, so that's what happened." The Holy Spirit Ancestor muttered softly. He too didn't doubt Cedric's words because if he had lied at any point in his story, he would've been able to tell.

"So, does this mean that you're pretty much invulnerable to the Void Infection now?" The Ancient Titan Chancellor asked curiously.

His question got everybody's attention. Once again, all gazes were fixed on Cedric, waiting for his reply.

"Invulnerable is a very strong statement," Cedric hesitantly replied. "I honestly don't know since I haven't tried it yet. But, at the very least, I should have some level of resistance or immunity to it. Though, I suppose only at a certain level."

This wasn't blind confidence. Cedric, though his cultivation realm has yet to fully stabilize, knew his current state better than anyone else. He knew that even if he were to expose himself, without wearing a void suit, at a certain level of void density, he'd be just fine.

"We can do some tests later, if you don't mind." The Mystic Fae Chancellor spoke this time, and once again, Cedric couldn't help but feel strangely familiar to him. If only he could see his face under that visor he's wearing.

"I'm personally curious about one thing, though," he said, seemingly hesitating if he should ask this or not. "What's going on with your body right now? I don't sense any energy flowing through you. Usually, that would either mean you're a mortal or you're dead. Yet all of us here know that that's not the case with you."

Honestly, this question surprised Cedric a bit. He even doubted if the Mystic Fae Chancellor was tricking him or something else. Either way, he did what made sense to him.

Cedric raised a hand and produced a clump of dark golden energy at his fingertips. As soon as it appeared, the air in the room suddenly shifted.

Those who had witnessed Cedric's breakthrough had seen this before. And along with it was also the same archaic aura that dazzled them. It was an instinctual reaction. All who saw this dark golden fog felt like they'd seen this before, even though some were only seeing it in the first place.

Additionally, they also feel an innate connection with it, and its appearance brought a yearning deep into their hearts.

"Yes, indeed. Since you have the Breath of Primordial Chaos flowing through you, any other known energy sources wouldn't be suitable to you. The one you have is already the best there is." Chancellor Igor fought hard to snuff his desire to jump at Cedric and study that dark golden fog more closely.

"Breath of Primordial Chaos?" Cedric repeated in curiosity. It was clear to everybody that he has yet to put a name to this dark golden fog, and it's also clear that the Wise Dragon Chancellor knew a lot about it.

'That's a mouthful,' Cedric inwardly muttered. Of course, he wouldn't dare to say this out loud since it might provoke the ire of the dragon.

"Fascinating indeed." The Mystic Fae Chancellor looked deeply intrigued. He wasn't hiding his blatant attraction towards this unknown energy source that eluded his senses.

"What does it do?" The Primal Beast Chancellor asked. Like Igor, he too was tampering with his instinctual desire to get closer to that energy source, and it's just as difficult for him since the feeling took him completely by surprise.

"Well...from the little experimentation I had with it, it's probably the densest and most potent form of energy I have ever encountered," Cedric replied. "And it would make sense to assume that it will be difficult to control, but to me, it isn't."

As he said this, the fog began taking on shapes and sizes; it even began to transform into other known energy sources that everybody's familiar with without losing its inherent density and ancientness.

"It's surprisingly easy to control and very versatile. Actually, I find it easier to use and just way better than the energy source I was using before. So far, that's all I know. I still need more time to experiment with it to say more."

Cedric feigned ignorance at their disappointment as he retrieved the fog.

A brief silence permeated the room for a bit before the Mystic Fae Chancellor spoke.

"Do forgive us for essentially questioning you like this, but you have to understand that you have just become an intriguing case to us. Your current existence is a...fascinating mystery to all of us here. It wouldn't be wrong to say that you've completely gone beyond our expectations, and we surely are eager to learn more about how you did this."

"I don't mind, sir. I'm happy to provide assistance wherever I can. Though, my current state is just as much of a mystery to me as it is to you," Cedric replied humbly. Truly, it wasn't such a big deal to him, and he completely understands where they're coming from.

"We will conclude this interview here." The Holy Spirit Chancellor mediated, "Thank you, Officer Dawnbringer, for participating. You have given us a lot to think about. Don't worry, your information will be secured through our private channels; it's the least we can do to repay your trust. However, before you go, please accompany Chancellor Igor here. I believe the two of you have much to talk about."

'I'm afraid that if I didn't do so, the lizard would start fighting everybody in this room.' Cedric couldn't help but inwardly grumble. But of course, he didn't dare to express his thoughts on his face.

Instead, he looked at the aged dragon and nodded in agreement. He believed that this old man wouldn't hurt him, so there's no need to be afraid.

The personnel inside the room were dismissed, and Cedric left with Chancellor Igor. It would also seem that they, well, more like the Chancellor, were in a hurry, and Cedric was trying to keep up.

They went through several halls until they arrived at a private and sealed area that the Chancellor chose for their private discussion.

Upon arriving there, Chancellor Igor faced him and said:

"Do forgive me for being a little forceful. I believe that after you listen to my story, you'd understand why I am very agitated and almost desperate to learn more from you."

The chancellor motioned for him to sit down and make himself comfortable, and that's what Cedric did, though he made sure that he wasn't being disrespectful.

"You see, I was born during the dawn of the Ancient Era's decline," Chancellor Igor began his story. "Oh, I guess I should start by telling you who the Ancients are."

"The 'Ancients' are more like a title given to them than anything else. It refers to the creatures that were born shortly after the conception of Primordial Chaos and the formation of the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm."

"You can say that they're the firstborn of the Primordial Chaos, and thus they were made to be special."

"The Ancients waged war against each other; they fought to claim total hegemony over their home. Their clash caused worlds to be destroyed, yet it also gave birth to new ones. Their fights caused total chaos in the realm, yet it also became the source of order later on."

"Their war ended at the appearance of the void and its nefarious creatures. They stopped fighting each other and founded the very first unified resistance against the encroaching threat upon them."

"As you can tell by now, this unified resistance gave birth to the Scarlet Dust Alliance of today."

Cedric nodded. This was the abridged version of the story, one that he had heard of before. He wanted to tell the Chancellor that he's heard this story before, but he didn't want to steal his thunder, so he kept quiet instead.

"Their war didn't really end; it just shifted to another target, which happened to be the void. It was only after thousands of years that they realized that they're limited by their current knowledge to completely get rid of the void."

"Thus, they resorted to the only way available for them at that time, and that is to buy time for their descendants."

"It is through their sacrifices that the Scarlet Division Wall was created along with the gated entrances to the void. And this sacrifice is also what caused their once majestic era to decline."
