Chapter 24: Hidden Threats
Michael hesitated to share details about his class and his recent adventures in the forest with Lucian. Though his father had urged him to trust the old man, he felt that the less people know about his abilities, the better. He was determined not to involve anyone else in his problems.
In the end, he decided to consult Nyxar about the matter.
**What do you think, Nyxar?** Michael asked, reaching out through their mental link.
**If we're going to face the Demon King in the future , we'll need all the help we can get. We can't be sure we can trust anyone else, and we can't ask Old Matt for assistance anymore. I think we should take a chance with this old man,** Nyxar replied thoughtfully.
Nyxar sighed before continuing, **Alright, let's give it a shot.** He then turned his attention to Lucian. **I've awakened a class similar to a necromancer, with the ability to control the dead. Then I awakened my innate ability and was able to develop my undead summons...**
**During my time in the forest, I found the monsters to be remarkably weak. So, I made a deal with Lady Nora Silverfang to acquire a corpse for my experiments. She provided me with the body of a talented Elf assassin who had fallen in an assassination attempt. I revived him using my class skills and further enhanced him through my innate ability. He evolved beyond mere undead; I named him Nyxar.**
**Nyxar proved to be intelligent and full of potential. We ventured into the forest to test his skills and successfully destroyed a bandit camp, where we discovered a map leading to Orc village under the control of a rank D shaman. Nyxar advised me that this was an opportunity we couldn't afford to miss, so we decided to raid the village to obtain the chief's body for my skills.**
**After two weeks of preparation, we executed the raid, eliminating the chief and his guards, and made off with their bodies. And here we are now.**
Michael recounted his journey since awakening, deliberately omitting any mention of his affinity with the void.
After listening intently, Lucian sighed. **You've had a perilous adventure, young man. Your luck seems to be running thin.**
**Dealing with the dead, especially as a necromancer, is heavily frowned upon in the human continent and even in some other continents .Even if others don't come after you because of your parents, your class will still draw danger to you,** Lucian warned.
**Can you summon this Nyxar now?** he inquired.
**No problem. ** Michael summoned Nyxar, who emerged from the shadows and settled into the chair beside him.
Lucian regarded Nyxar with a mix of wonder and surprise.
**What? Do you like what you see, old man? You can take a picture; it'll last longer,** Nyxar quipped, Making Michael helpless.
**You idiot, show some respect,** Michael scolded, glancing at Lucian as he observed their exchange with bemusement.
**Will all your summons be like this?** Lucian asked, raising an eyebrow.
Michael, caught off guard by the question, replied, **I don't think so. A part of my soul merged with Nyxar's when I revived him. I doubt that will happen again with my other summons.**
"If all your summons are like this, you could become the most dangerous person in the world," Lucian remarked, studying Michael with a mix of admiration and concern. "How did you survive the division of your soul? That shouldn't have been possible."
Michael replied, "It seems I had a surplus of soul energy at that time, though I'm not sure how that happened."
Lucian contemplated for a moment before retrieving a bottle containing a glowing silver potion from his ring. "This is a rank S potion known as *Spirit's Resurgence.* It has the ability to incrementally enhance the soul power of its user," he explained to Michael and Nixar. The duo looked on in astonishment.
"Why had I never heard of this potion during my lifetime?" Nixar inquired.
"There are many exotic treasures hidden from those of lower ranks," Lucian replied. "Even some nobles are unaware of this potion's existence. The next time you attempt to use your skill in reviving the undead, you should come here to take this potion."
Michael's eyes lit up with enthusiasm at the prospect.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door of the union president's office. Nyxar slipped back into Michael's shadow as Lucian quietly instructed, "Come in"
Elena entered, She carries a small ID card.. She handed it to Michael, Then she took permission to leave the room. Michael examined the card; it displayed his image, name, class, and other pertinent information.
"How did I manage to deceive the examination?" he asked.
"I accomplished that using an element I obtained from Nora Silverfang," Michael replied.
Lucian raised an eyebrow. "What kind of dangerous deal allowed you to acquire the body of a skilled assassin along with such an element?"
"It's not a significant matter. I merely promised her to stay away from her family," Michael answered.
Lucian fell silent, processing the information. "Did I inform you of something important?"
"Yes, you provided me with a summary of my situation," Michael replied.
The older man sighed. She didn't have to do that.
"I should be grateful she informed me, "That would have made me ignorant of the dangers I was facing. I might be dead by now."."
"In this city, as long as you remain here, I doubt anyone will attempt to kill or kidnap you," Lucian assured him.
Michael was taken aback. "Why is that?"
"Because I keep watch over this city. Unless someone wants me to turn this city into a slab of ice, no one will be foolish enough to attack you while I'm in the city.," Lucian replied confidently.
"Looks like I'll have to postpone my trip to Frostholm.," Michael concluded.
"By the way, can you create an identity card for Nyxar as well to avoid complications?" he added.
Nyxar emerged from Michael's shadow, visibly excited at the prospect. "Of course! How would you like to register it?"
"His name will be Nyxar Nightshade، and his class will be Dimensional assassin،" Michael specified.
Lucian considered this for a moment. "That may lead to some complications, but I will ensure everything is in order when you come to test your skills here. You will find it ready.
"Thank you for everything, Lucian," Michael said gratefully.
As Nyxar returned to Michael's shadow, Michael left to head home.
Meanwhile, in a luxurious chamber, a strikingly beautiful woman sat, dressed in a black gown that accentuated her figure. Her long, silky hair cascaded down, matching the hue of her coal-black eyes.In her hand was a glass of bright red wine. when a knight, clad in full black armor with a blue cloak, entered and bowed deeply.
"Madam, we have a problem," he reported in a deep voice.
The woman's tone turned cold. "What is it?"
"It seems that someone attacked the village. We lost the orc leader, along with his guards, armor, and weapons," he explained.
The woman's grip tightened around her cup, shattering it in her hands. "This cannot be a coincidence. How is this possible?"
"One of them appears to have been investigating us and the orc village recently," the knight replied. "Whoever attacked them knew they were associated with us."
The woman fell silent, contemplating the implications. "Some fools are trying to create problems for us," she sighed.
Back at home, Michael and Nyxar remained blissfully unaware of the dangers that loomed ahead.
