Chapter 965 - Last Crazy Ac
Chapter 965 Last Crazy Ac
What Miao Qingshan wanted to eat most at the moment was food from the village.
“Whatever. I’m not in the mood for anything much,” Miao Qingshan replied with a smile. His smile looked rather bitter. There was no point in thinking about any of it.
Miao Tianchuan chuckled for a bit before lighting up a cigarette.
“I’ll go get us something to eat,” he said. “It is the new year after all.”
Before long he returned with a lot of good food.
The two men tidied up the abandoned house a little. Although it looked less messy, it still did not look like home.
The place remained dilapidated and cold.
“I guess we’ll have to make do with what we’ve got,” Miao Tianchuan said.
“It’s alright,” Miao Qingshan said.
Although he said that, his thoughts were completely different.
Am I really going to keep living like this?
Nobody liked being a rat kept on the run, hiding everywhere and being practically rootless.
They made do with the place and ate their food.
The cold wind outside seeped through the cracks in the walls of that rundown house, making the place chilly.
Miao Qingshan laid on a makeshift bed. He was unable to sleep. Miao Tianchuan, who was not all that far away from him, was unable to sleep as well.
The two of them had different thoughts about things.
The night slowly passed.
“I’ll head out for a bit.”
In the morning, Miao Tianchuan left their temporary residence not long after the sun rose.
He County was filled with joy and festivities.
A great majority of businesses and factories were closed for the holiday. People who were working or doing business out of town returned to their homes to be with their families. The entire place looked lively and peaceful.
Things are quite lively!
Miao Tianchuan walked on a street of the tiny county town. He felt the spirit of the holiday all around him.
The people around him were busy, warm, and happy.
I really don’t want to ruin this.
He walked over to an old, rundown building. It was the small county town’s city council building. The core leaders and some administrative departments were still working inside it.
Is this the place?
He stood outside and stared at the building for a bit before leaving.
It was lunchtime.
Most people returned home for lunch. A few people remained behind at the building to eat. There was a canteen in there. The food tasted rather good, and it was affordable.
The entire place was empty after lunch.
The day quickly turned into night.
Something big happened in He County.
Most administrative personnel were hospitalized. They were vomiting or had diarrhea. Guo Zhenghe was one of those people.
It was food poisoning, and there were many people affected.
The entire city was immediately on alert.
It was a severe case and a provocation to the local government. It was something that had never happened before.
After receiving the news, special task forces were set up in the county and city to investigate the case. Leave for all personnel were revoked. All available manpower was focused on solving the case.
Tens of people suffered food poisoning in one go. Furthermore, all of them were government servants. Some were even persons-in-charge at key posts. It was something very severe. Worse still, the top figure in the county—Secretary Guo—was poisoned, and he was in dire shape.
“Are they nuts?”
Yang Guanfeng and Lu Xiufeng rushed to the scene. After seeing how severe the case was, they were both shocked.
“This is practically a declaration of war!”
“Enough with sentiments. We best get to work solving what is happening right before us.”
“The doctors here are not going to be able to do much. They aren’t good enough. We have to get to the Valley of Thousands of Medicine.”
“We don’t need to go anywhere,” Yang Guanfeng said. “Just tell them to show up.”
Miao Xihe had no expression when he received the news.
“Chief.”
“Something happened in He County again. Government servants got hit this time. It was food poisoning. Tens of them were affected, including Secretary Guo.”
“What? Is Miao Tianchuan insane!?” Miao Qingfeng was surprised to hear that news.
“He’s truly a lunatic. Head out immediately. You have to save all those people, especially Secretary Guo.”
“Will do.”
Miao Changqing gathered several people. The group immediately headed out for straight He County. They moved as quickly as they were able to.
“Look out!”
Boom.
On the road from the village, right where those people were, there was an explosion. Two people were blown to bits and died on the spot. The remaining two and Miao Changqing were injured.
“What?”
“Two are dead, and two are injured.”
“Let’s go!”
Miao Xihe quietly rose. He decided to head out on his own.
There was no other option.
“You’re finally out!”
Miao Tianchuan was laying low on a rock somewhere in the woods with a sniper rifle in his hand. He was able to tell from the scope that there were five people. The man in the middle was his mortal enemy, Miao Xihe.
“Nearly invincible, eh? Let’s see if your eyes can take a hit.”
He steadied his breath and aimed closely at Miao Xihe with the scope.
A breeze blew, and the leaves rustled.
Bang. A shot was heard throughout the woods.
Miao Xihe, who was several hundred few away, dropped to the ground with a thump.
“Chief!”
The people around him were stunned. They immediately circled him.
“Is he dead?”
Miao Tianchuan wanted to take a better look, but all of the people retreated behind the trees at very high speeds.
It was time to bail.
He made his choice without any hesitation. He took his gun apart and immediately retreated.
Sh*t!
Before he was able to get more than a few steps away, he sensed an intense threat right behind him
He fired without turning his head around.
Tat, tat, tat.
He felt a powerful force rushing at him with a huge thump. He was sent flying and rammed into a tree.
Miao Xihe!
He stood up. His chest hurt. He did not know how many bones had been broken, but he dared not turn around. He ran as soon as he got up. He threw several highly explosive grenades behind him.
Boom!
Intense explosions were heard.
Shoop. A gust of wind was heard.
He quickly dodged, but he was still too slow.
Torturous pain hit him with a loud crack. His arm was broken.
He still kept running.
Crack. A bone on his lower leg snapped. It had been bent at a 90-degree angle.
He lost all mobility. He was no longer able to run. His only option was to wait for death to claim him.
He stopped and looked behind him. He stared at the man who was mere feet away from him. That was the man he had dreamt of killing.
“Miao Xihe.” Gritting his teeth would not have done him any good at that moment.
“So, is this the outcome you’d wanted to see?” the older man coldly asked while staring at Miao Tianchuan.
“He-he, well, the winner takes all. Even in my sleep, I dream of killing you. I’m not going to rest until you’re dead!”
“Did you go all this way just to kill me with a gun?”
Miao Tianchuan almost instantly realized what went wrong. “He-he, Miao Xihe. I never expected you would have found a double, especially one that looked just like you.”
“I guess only a handful in the village knows about this, eh?”
“Seven.”
“You really have things thought out,” Miao Tianchuan said. His injured body twisted about. Blood was visible at the corner of his mouth.
“You’re quite a talent, Tianchuan. It’s a pity.”
“So, is here where I beg for my life?” Miao Tianchuan asked.
“It doesn’t matter. I have to get to He County and clean up the mess you started. Let’s call it a day.”
“Hell yeah!”
Boom!
An extremely intense explosion was heard. A fireball was seen shooting into the air.
After hearing the explosion, several people rushed to the scene. They saw a crater that was almost 32 feet in diameter.
“What happened?”
“It doesn’t matter. Let’s head out.”
A man suddenly appeared by their side.
“Chief, y-you’re still alive?”
All of them were surprised.
“Come on. We’re in a hurry.”
“Yes, Sir.” They did not ask any further questions and obediently followed him.
They arrived He County in the night. They went on to treat all the people who had suffered from food poisoning.
Miao Tianchuan was a proficient assassin, but he was not the best at using poison. The poison used, however, still would have given common doctors quite a headache. If they were to be given several months to work at it, they would have probably been able to find a solution. They did not have such time at their disposal. In truth, they could not even wait for days. People would have died by then.
It was fortunate that Miao Xihe and his people came in time and brought enough medicines with them. All the food poisoning victims were stabilized, including Guo Zhenghe.
“How are you feeling, Secretary Guo?”
“I’m fine.” Guo Zhenghe woke up. Other than feeling sore and weak all over her, as well as very thirsty, he was hardly unwell in any other way.
“How are the others?” he asked.
“Everyone is no longer in danger. One of them died because of other health reasons.”
“Who was that?”
“It was Li from the tech bureau.”
Guo Zhenghe nodded after hearing that. He remained quiet.
“Are you hungry, Secretary Guo? I’ll go and get you something to eat.”
“Yeah, thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.”
The young man headed out to get food. Guo Zhenghe was the only person left in the ward.
Guo Zhenghe sat on his bed and reminisced about what happened during the day. He felt rather unwell after lunch. With the cases of food poisoning being so widespread, the canteen was definitely the source of the problem. The investigations afterward confirmed that. There was where the problem lied. Who would have dared to provoke them at such a time using such methods?
Miao Tianchuan the fugitive?
He thought about it for quite some time and was unable to think of anyone else. It could have only been the work of that man, who was blinded by vengeance and willing to do anything to exact his revenge.
“Where is Miao Xihe now?”
“In the hospital. Deputy Mayor Lin is speaking with him.”
“Keep an eye out. Tell him to come here when he’s available.”
“Yes, Sir. Take your time with the meal. Call me if you need anything.” The young man put down the food and headed out.
“Yeah.”
Guo Zhenghe did not rush to eat. He called his family to tell them that he was alright. His family received the news as soon as he was hospitalized. They were very concerned for him, especially his mother, who insisted on going to He County. It took quite a lot of effort to persuade her otherwise. After hearing that he was alright and talking with him, she insisted on getting him assigned elsewhere. She said that it was too dangerous in He County.
“I’ll think about it, mom. Don’t worry too much.”
It took him quite a while to quell his mother’s concerns. Right after he was done talking on the phone, he heard a knock on the door.
