Chapter 10: Truth of the World
Gizmo had promised to heal Axel within five years. Yet, for the interim, Axel was a prisoner in his own body, unable to speak or move. So Axel planned to utilize the next 5 years by getting to know this world via Gizmo.
'Gizmo, as you said, for the next 5 years my body won't be much help to me, so what do you suggest I should do for the time being?' Axel inquired, communicating with Gizmo via telepathy.
[For the next five years, the Host is advised to advance his knowledge about the world and the laws that govern it. Moreover, a certain time daily should be allocated by the Host to practice and gain one skill.]
'Explain in detail, please,' Axel requested.
[Starting from the very beginning, the life the Host had on Earth should not be seen as an isolated event, different from what the Host will experience here. From the very beginning of time, the powers that are present here were also present on Earth, but the difference is that Earth is considered a very desolate place in the grand scheme of things, very far away from the influence of any major power, and the beings there have long forgotten the existence of elements and other powers.]
[There are two major and many minor reasons for the status quo. For the sentient beings on Earth, due to their bodies being unable to harness the power of elements, their lifespan is very low. For a being from Earth, the time of a hundred years or so would seem a long time, but that is smaller than a blink if considered on the scale on which things operate in the Universe. Some of the powerful existences in the Universe might have a lifespan longer than that of Earth itself. As Earth beings are unable to harness elements, they die early, and as they die early, they are unable to change the status quo. Also, the Solar system is in a very desolate place with a mysterious veil surrounding it, making it very difficult for elements to be harnessed there (elements exist but cannot be harnessed).]
[Now, for Axel, luckily, someone extracted his soul and entered it into this world, also known as the Nova. This place is very special as, through mysterious ways, it is connected to many other worlds (something for later), but Axel is currently in a low-tier place inhabited by humans. In this place where Axel was born, people do not have advanced knowledge regarding elements, but with time, they have grown.]
[A big reason for that growth is that this place is an in-between while going to important places. Thus, the travelers have imparted knowledge to the inhabitants here and helped them grow, like city dwellers traveling via a village to go to another city.]
[The story of Axel's current family is similar. The Blairs once showed hospitality to someone from the Holy Kingdom, and in return, he showed the Blairs the way to harness their innate affinity with the Thunder element. Since then, the Blairs' reputation has grown over time, becoming the overlords of the nearby area, and some of their talented offspring have even ventured outside the immediate vicinity and made a name for themselves.]
[Although the Blair lineage has been blessed with people having varying types of affinities, the more powerful ones have primarily always been the ones with the Thunder element, owing to the Blair's unique physique.]
[But still, even from the ranks of your family, not many have been able to become an Elementalist. And before Axel has a common misconception, let me answer his question beforehand. No, being able to manipulate an element does not equate to being an Elementalist. Sometimes some people might boast regarding the same, but to be a true Elementalist, you need to fuse an element with your soul, and only then are you an Elementalist of that particular element. Owing to how difficult that task is in itself, the prospects of becoming a dual Elementalist or higher are super, super rare (to stress how difficult it is).]
[And in Axel's immediate family (in the same generation or one generation above), only his mother is an Elementalist. His father is close to being one but not there yet. Now, coming back to Axel's current situation, Gizmo has a vast library within him through which he can help Axel gain knowledge regarding elements and other things, but let me warn Axel beforehand: he has to be patient throughout the process and not expect grand results from the get-go.]
'I understand that and don't underestimate my patience. I have been a physicist back on Earth. I do get the gist of things but I plan to learn things along the way with your help. But what was that thing regarding skill, even That Old Man was pestering me about that?'
[Before we proceed further and discuss skills, there is a more pressing issue at hand: Axel has poison in his body, poison so potent that even the more powerful Elementalists might die from it.]
