Chapter 49: The War That Was Erased

Kael's breathing was ragged as he knelt on the cold stone floor, his mind reeling from the visions forced upon him. **He had seen things no mortal was ever meant to witness.**

The abyssal energy had burned through his soul, unraveling secrets long buried beneath time itself.

Saren crouched beside him, her voice laced with concern. "Kael. Talk to me. What the hell just happened?"

Kael's fingers dug into the ground as the weight of his revelation settled in his chest. "The abyss…" He swallowed hard. "It wasn't always like this."

Saren frowned. "What do you mean?"

Kael's eyes flickered with remnants of abyssal light as he lifted his head. "It was once a kingdom."

Saren froze. "...What?"

Kael exhaled sharply. "A long time ago, before history as we know it… the abyss wasn't just some corrupting force. It was a civilization. **A kingdom ruled by the First Abyssal King.**"

The air in the chamber grew heavier.

Saren shook her head in disbelief. "That doesn't make any sense. The abyss has always been a force of destruction. That's what every record says."

Kael clenched his fists. "Because history was rewritten."

The visions had shown him **a war erased from time.**

The war that led to the fall of the abyssal kingdom.

And the sealing of something **far worse.**

---

### **The Abyssal Kingdom and the Betrayal**

Kael shut his eyes, recalling the visions. **A grand empire of dark spires stretching across the land, its people wielding abyssal energy not as a curse, but as a gift.** They were powerful, not because they sought destruction, but because they understood the abyss better than anyone.

And then—**the betrayal.**

Kael gritted his teeth.

"The kingdom was betrayed from within," he said, his voice low. "A group of their own—people who feared what the abyss could become—**sealed away their king.** They shattered their own civilization to erase its existence from history."

Saren crossed her arms. "And let me guess. That door we're standing in front of?"

Kael nodded. "It's his prison."

A silence fell between them.

Saren ran a hand through her hair, exhaling slowly. "So, the abyss… is pissed because it was wrongfully sealed away?"

Kael stood, his resolve hardening. "Not just that. The abyss was never meant to be the chaotic force it is today. The ones who sealed it twisted its energy, **corrupting it into something unstable.**"

Saren gave him a wary look. "And now, the seal is breaking."

Kael's grip on the abyssal fragment tightened. "Yes."

And whatever lay beyond that door **was waking up.**

---

### **The Warning from the Abyss**

The chamber trembled.

Kael and Saren turned sharply as a deep **rumbling** echoed through the ruins. The abyssal sigils on the walls flickered violently, their glow pulsating in sync with the fragment in Kael's hand.

A voice—**the same voice from before—**spoke once more.

*"You now understand. The truth was stolen. The kingdom was lost."*

Kael's pulse quickened.

*"The chains weaken. The false gods who sealed me away cannot hold forever."*

Saren gripped her sword. "And that's supposed to be a good thing?"

A pause.

Then—

*"It is a warning."*

The air grew **dense** with power. Kael felt the weight of something pressing against him, unseen yet undeniable.

*"A storm is coming. And when the seal shatters…"*

The temperature **dropped.**

*"The world will burn."*

The abyssal energy **vanished.**

The chamber returned to silence.

Kael exhaled, his hands shaking.

Saren cursed under her breath. "Fantastic. Just what we needed. An ancient, pissed-off abyssal king about to break free and set the world on fire."

Kael straightened, his expression grim. "We need to leave. Now."

Saren nodded. "For once, I actually agree with you."

As they turned back toward the staircase, Kael cast one last glance at the sealed door.

For a brief moment, he swore he saw something **on the other side.**

Watching.

Waiting.

And **smiling.**
