Eclipse of the Heart: The Alpha’s Forbidden Mate

Chapter 26: Chapter 27: A Strange Chamber

This place would collapse soon, and they could only seek a chance of survival in the cracks.

The 'Dust' clan people listened and had no energy to argue. They untied the ropes and struggled towards the one man and one wolf. The wild beasts that had luckily not been swept away naturally saw where these humans were going. In times of danger, even beasts knew to put aside their temporary hostility and move towards a safe place together.

The wolf king dug his claws deep into the mud with every step, and like this, step by step, he finally reached the highest point with hard rocks before the entire area collapsed.

Then came the agile beasts and the 'Dust' clan people.

Except for the beasts and 'Dust' clan people who had been swept away, the remaining people barely filled the space. Looking at the wounded group, Li Ge's heart ached. Before she could continue to grieve, she felt a tightening around her waist. Looking up, she saw the wolf king pushing through the crowds of beasts and people to a nondescript rocky corner.

She was about to ask something when Xiao Hei jumped down from her arms and stood with the wolf king in that corner, sniffing with his little nose.

"Is there something different here?" Li Ge squatted down and asked puzzledly.

The wolf king didn't answer, only using his paw to constantly scrape away the mud on the rocks. Seeing this, Li Ge came forward to help. In a moment, she indeed saw something unusual.

"Hmm, this pattern is so familiar." Li Ge looked at something she had seen before on a large rock and murmured.

"Young lady, have you discovered something?" Wulun squeezed over as soon as Li Ge finished speaking. He asked anxiously.

Seeing Wulun, Li Ge quickly made way and asked, "You came at the right time. Do you know what this pattern is? It looks so familiar."

"This… this… is our clan's emblem."

Wulun could immediately recognize the pattern carved on the rock. He was shocked. He had also been to this forbidden area, but he had never paid attention to this place.

This was a scene Li Ge often saw in wuxia novels, so she said solemnly, "Master Wulun, do you have the emblem with you?"

"I have it, I have it." It was their clan's most precious thing, how could he not bring it? He quickly took out the emblem Mo had seen.

Taking the copper plaque, Li Ge and the wolf king looked at each other and then nodded heavily. Then, she pressed the plaque into the concave part of the pattern. Sure enough, the size was perfect. In the moment of Li Ge's surprise, she suddenly felt lighter, and the next moment she was thrown onto the wolf king's back. Before she could react, she heard a click, as if a stone had moved, followed by a rumbling sound that seemed to come from underground.

"Wolf King, young lady…" Wulun's old voice sounded like it was in Li Ge's ear.

Li Ge's body lost weight, and she instinctively closed her eyes. She hugged the wolf king's neck tightly. She knew they were descending. Chirp, chirp, before Li Ge could react, Xiao Hei had jumped into her arms.

"Xiao Hei, why are you coming down? It's dangerous here." Helplessly, Li Ge could only scold him softly.

The spirit mink licked Li Ge's face and rubbed against her affectionately, thinking to himself, he was a spirited mink with a sense of justice and would never abandon his master to escape alone.

Now there were three lives at stake. Li Ge knew she could only save herself. She untied the rope around her waist and threw it down as a flash of lightning struck. Soon, she heard a plop.

"Mo, we're not far from the ground now. Let's jump together."

Feeling the wolf king's silent nod, the man and wolf released the rope at the same time. Li Ge closed her eyes and waited for the pain to come, but she heard a thud. She knew Mo had landed first, and then she landed on something soft and resilient.

"Um…" Both of them groaned.

Her hand touched the wet but still soft fur below. Li Ge quickly sat up and anxiously asked, "Mo, are you okay?"

Carefully taking out the fire starter from the snakeskin pocket, the moment the flame rose, she saw blood at the corner of the wolf king's mouth. That spot of red pierced her eyes.

Mo always silently eliminated the dangers in front of her, creating a safe environment for her. Li Ge had never felt so helpless. Her tears dripped onto the wolf king's slightly closed eyes.

Hearing the faint sobs, before she could wipe away her tears, she quickly squatted down and checked the wolf king's injuries.

After checking repeatedly, fortunately, it hadn't injured his internal organs. It was just a surge of blood caused by the shock. Gently wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, when he recovered, Li Ge slowly helped him up.

Just then, Wulun's voice sounded again, "Wolf King, young lady… are you alright?"

Li Ge first observed the surroundings. In the light of the fire, everything was clear. Li Ge was stunned. This place was entirely made of rock walls, and even the ground was paved with large, smooth stones. Because it hadn't been opened for a long time, there was a damp smell in the air. Seeing that there was no danger, she turned her head and shouted towards the hole above, "We're fine. You can come down now."

Hearing the response from above, Li Ge followed the wolf king and carefully observed this cave. It was flat and smooth, not naturally formed, but man-made. Looking at the moss on the stone walls, this cave had existed for at least hundreds of years. However, since it was man-made, why was there nothing inside, no tables or chairs? It felt strange.

"Young lady, is it safe here?"

Wulun had already descended using the rope and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Li Ge and the wolf king were safe.

"It looks safe, at least there are no traps." Li Ge said casually.

This was also what puzzled her. Since this cave was man-made, there must be a purpose. But looking at the emptiness, Li Ge felt a strange atmosphere.

Before she could think about it, the 'Dust' clan people came down one after another. Li Ge and the wolf king temporarily stopped and watched them count the number of people.

The quiet space was broken by low voices. After a while, Nong Yi sadly reported to Wulun, "Master Wulun, a total of one hundred and ten people are missing."
