Chapter 224.2
Chapter 224.2. The Adventurer’s Guild
I get it. It’s more convenient to go digital. Paper takes up space.
But right now, we’re still just considering introducing computers. Sorry, Shingen.
Even though I’m apologizing, for some reason, Shingen approached Katsuyori with a twisted expression.
“You tricked me, Katsuyori! You’re planning to dump all this paperwork on your father?”
“Father. I’m busy. Don’t worry, those are just the necessary documents before the guild opens.”
Katsuyori, with a sharp, intense gaze, informed his father.
It might be a bit too much work to leave to him, but I’m handling even more paperwork now.
We’re seriously short on hands.
“I can’t feel reassured at all! That just means it’s going to get even worse!”
“Ah, save the father-son quarrel for later. Let’s get down to business.”
So, the old man’s complaints are dismissed. Do your best.
“Now, let me explain the ranking system of this Adventurers’ Guild. Daiki, hand out the materials.”
“Sure. Oh, and here’s your tea.”
Daiki-kun handed out tea, and then distributed the materials. He’s a diligent guy.
Katsuyori ignored Shingen’s protests and began his explanation.
Shingen reluctantly accepted the materials, his shoulders slumped.
Serika was peeking in from the door. Seems like she’s not planning to come closer.
She’s like a small, cautious animal.
“First, about the ranking system. It clearly defines one’s position.”
“This sounds exciting. I’ll work hard to raise my rank!”
Yukihana-chan, a kimono-clad beauty, is getting excited about raising her rank. It’s her dream.
“Please look at the materials. This is how it’s been decided.”
Katsuyori pointed to the following details.
If an individual is deemed competent and proven by achievements, they may be promoted by passing a guild test or receiving a recommendation.
Normal ranks are as follows. Also, ranks above Bronze are subject to a demotion warning if a set quota is not met within a specified period.
Iron: Registered adventurer only. If desired, one year of free training can be provided.
During training, jobs with rewards will be arranged to avoid financial difficulties.
Bronze: After completing the one-year training course and passing practical and written exams, one can accept requests issued by the guild. A small fixed salary is provided.
Silver: With a tactical perspective, two years of practical experience as Bronze, and passing the promotion exam, one can lead a party in special missions and is given priority for office jobs. A fixed salary is provided.
Gold: With a strategic perspective, two years of practical experience as Silver, and passing the promotion exam, one can lead a battalion-sized group and is offered preferential treatment for employment at Amatsugahara Corporation. A fixed salary is provided.
Individuals with skills in driving, machine operation, or other relevant fields may be given preference in exams.
Also, ranks above Silver may purchase fixed skills by lottery. Gold rank can purchase growth-capable skills by lottery.
Please note that during exams, beliefs, and ideologies may also be checked.
Benefits, including facilities and insurance, start from the Bronze rank. Identity verification also begins at the Bronze rank.
“This seems good, Katsuyori. With this, the Adventurers’ Guild can function.”
I nodded in satisfaction after reading the materials. It’s a well-crafted system.
Of course, adjustments will be needed after implementation, but that’s to be expected. No problems here.
“Thank you. Currently, only Iron ranks are available, so former soldiers and those who have been active will be promoted to Bronze rank after a simple exam.
As for Silver, veteran soldiers will be promoted. Gold will be for Father, Baba, Yukihana-san, and Date-san.”
Katsuyori, a capable man, moved on to the next topic.
“To address the dissatisfaction of the general public, for the next three months, there will be a special period where they can take the promotion exam to Bronze without the training course.”
“That’s only natural. But in such cases, there will definitely be those who try to cram for the exam. Make sure to add more points for long marches with 30kg of gear in the exam.”
I wouldn’t call it cheating, but I want to avoid people studying just to pass the exam. Lives are at stake.
Katsuyori added this note to the materials.
“We’ll make the written test harder and increase the difficulty of the exam during these three months. That should help filter the candidates.”
“I hope this leads to the birth of capable adventurers. Ideally, some who want office jobs.”
This is how the system gradually takes shape. I’m getting excited, despite my age.
“Um… Master? How is this an Adventurers’ Guild? It looks more like a military recruitment office.
Shouldn’t it be something like ‘complete ten requests and rank up’?”
Yukihana, with a dissatisfied pout, seemed to have expected something different.
“Huh? What are you talking about, Yukihana? Can you lead a group just by finding ten cats?
Can you march properly after killing ten goblins? Of course not. Proper knowledge and training are necessary.”
I believe adventurers must excel in both wisdom and courage.
[This has no romance! I wanted to casually slay an orc, then drop it at the dismantling window for show!]
[Please don’t place orcs at the dismantling window. It would be a terrible idea.]
Shizuku, waving her arms in protest, seems to be displeased.
But this is what true adventuring is like. It’s a tough job.
Reality is harsh.
