Chapter 218.1
Chapter 218.1. Yoshimitsu
Despite facing Yoshimitsu’s fierce presence, the Powers didn’t stop their frivolous laughter. They originally didn’t have much emotional fluctuation. They were bionoids, merely mimicking human emotions because of their human-like form. The scientist who developed the Powers thought giving mass-produced models emotions was a waste.
Therefore, they didn’t judge the man before them as dangerous from the air he exuded. They proceeded with their next combat actions without feeling fear or caution, thinking mechanically.
The rest of the Powers joined in, making their number 18. Opposite them, Yoshimitsu stood at the front with four soldiers behind him. Further back, behind several layers of sliding doors, more humans were detected waiting. However, there were only about six enemies.
On their side…
“Hey, haven’t you captured the target yet?”
“Haha, you guys are useless!”
“Doesn’t that mean we’re useless too?”
An additional 12 Powers arrived, making it 30 in total.
“Alright, let’s call for more reinforcements. Meanwhile, I’ll hold that man off.”
Yoshimitsu’s 20 magical swords were stuck in the tatami behind him. The Powers judged they could handle any situation.
“Okay, let’s do this. Go go!”
“Roger that, haha!”
Three of the Powers kicked off the floor and attacked Yoshimitsu. Their footsteps were heavy, each maintaining a slight distance.
Even if they fell, more Powers existed. They planned to use up all the magical swords, a strategy they could afford because their lives were as light as pebbles.
Yoshimitsu met the approaching Powers with a cruel smile, sword ready.
“Could you use one sword per person? Haha!”
In a light tone, he closed the distance with the first Power. The Power misjudged the distance and staggered.
“Humph!”
Yoshimitsu slashed diagonally upward at the first Power’s torso, then closed the distance to the next, cutting through with a sideways slash.
“What?!”
Seeing their comrade cut like paper, the third Power made a surprised face before Yoshimitsu’s follow-up slash cut through its torso.
Yoshimitsu shook the blood off his sword and returned to his original position.
“Fools. Did you really think I’d use the power of my swords on each of you? You clearly don’t know my strength!”
Yoshimitsu’s muscles bulged, straining his custom Mirror Armor.
“I’m stronger than my son. My name is Yoshimitsu, and my sword skills surpass Kagayaki’s!”
He re-readied his sword and roared like a beast at the Powers. Though he lacked unique skills, he had generic ones. [Swordsmanship] was his skill, recently acquiring [Combat Aura], making him a dual-skill wielder.
Though only two, his [Swordsmanship] skill level was 5, with a total status of 1600, emphasizing physical attributes, making him a powerful swordsman.
Not a genius, but a man of effort, built up over the years. Using the Ashikaga wealth to safely purchase status potions, he raised his stats, a man of [Effort] and [Wealth].
His swordsmanship didn’t rely on skills, or overpowering the Powers. As long as he wasn’t overwhelmed by numbers, he had no issues.
Showing the power of his magical swords initially served to suppress enemy movements.
Yoshimitsu’s equipment reflected magic, had a ring to deflect bullets, and numerous magical swords made by Kamiya that he could use without penalty.
In the back, his father Takauji, and son Yoshiaki waited with guards. It would be hard to stop the Powers from passing by Yoshimitsu. Using the magical swords’ power could stop them, but he hesitated since the extent of the enemy’s infiltration and their numbers were unknown.
Therefore, he first showed the power of his magical swords to prevent the enemy from attacking in groups. Ideally, the enemy would rely on guns instead of attacking directly.
Though the enemy decided to attack in small numbers, Yoshimitsu inwardly sneered, confident in handling it. The Powers fell into his tactics, attacking in simple numbers without realizing their weakness.
“Haha! Keep attacking!”
“Yeah, wait for him to tire!”
“Here we go, haha!”
Unfazed, the Powers attacked in groups of eight. Some charged straight, others staggered their approach from the sides, and others followed from the back.
They aimed to make him use his magical swords.
“Simpletons.”
Clicking his tongue, Yoshimitsu released his sword’s power. Mana surged, and ice fragments flew.
[Ice Sword]
As he swung, a blizzard shot towards the Powers, freezing the air and tatami, turning the advancing Powers into ice statues.
The rear Powers retreated to avoid the blast.
Yoshimitsu, pondering their next move while drawing a new sword, was surprised by their actions.
“What?”
To his amazement, the Powers again attacked in threes, at the same timing and intervals.
“Hmm!”
Wondering if they had a plan, Yoshimitsu cautiously but easily cut down the three. His cautious attacks were slightly slower, but he still had a significant skill advantage.
He expected them to exploit the opening after his attack, but the Powers didn’t move, making him more wary. Were they just increasing their losses without strategy?
“Not working? Then, onto the next one!”
