Earth With Dungeon: Saving the World With an Economic Boom

Chapter 216.2

Chapter 216.2. Miyoshi Nagayoshi

Despite this, he believed he couldn’t even become a small-time rich man because he had no connections or opportunities. Still, he had ambition. With his exceptional talent, he was burning with a desire to rise.

And then, Heaven gave him a chance. The foolish politicians were unaware of a true crisis. With their avoidance of conflict and conservatism, they couldn’t handle the unprecedented monster attacks from the dungeons.

Even though monsters were rampaging domestically, killing many people and destroying buildings, they refused to allow the Self-Defense Forces to shoot, fearing the aftermath. They didn’t want to take responsibility and lose elections, so they didn’t permit combat actions.

It was a chance. When someone said they would stage a coup to protect the country against these pathetic politicians, Nagayoshi secretly rejoiced, seeing it as an opportunity to become wealthy and powerful, while outwardly presenting himself as a young officer rising to the occasion to save the country.

Those who win in a military coup can attain future glory. Of course, there was a possibility of failure or facing a miserable fate even after victory, but the potential return was enormous.

In the end, the coup succeeded with ridiculous ease. The politicians who weren’t present didn’t even command the Self-Defense Forces to act against the coup! They ran away to avoid responsibility. They never imagined they would be executed as a result. They likely thought they could escape with their glib tongues.

Such foolishness allowed young officers and some high-ranking officials to join the coup, turning Japan into a military-controlled state.

Nagayoshi maneuvered skillfully, becoming a new power and entering Japan’s top echelons. He navigated through unfamiliar corporate acquisitions and internal rivalries to achieve his current life. All that remained was to become a distinguished family, but he harbored resentment toward Amatsugahara Corporation.

He had worked hard to grow this much. He dismantled and dispersed obstructive companies before the coup, distributing profits among themselves. He diligently learned management, a field he didn’t understand. He gained control of his family. The only thing left was the glory of being called a distinguished family for future generations. He couldn’t let people who rose to power in just a year interfere.

Sensing the anger from his face and demeanor, the butler and maids trembled, bowing their heads at the hallway’s edge.

“Yes, that’s right. Your attitude towards a power-holder should be like this. Amatsugahara Corporation should also be like this.”

Muttering to himself, he reached his destination room and roughly opened the door.

“I’m back!”

The room was spacious, enough to accommodate many people. The interior was luxurious, with expensive carpets and low tables surrounded by long sofas.

Several men sat on the sofas, eating the food laid out on the table.

“Welcome back, Nagayoshi.”

A long-haired man on the sofa spoke gently, smiling warmly, prompting Nagayoshi to sit on the sofa, frowning and nodding.

He ordered the maid waiting by the wall to bring wine, leaned deeply into the sofa, and exhaled.

“It seems it wasn’t a very enjoyable soirée?”

“Indeed, it wasn’t. Everyone was only thinking about money! Instead of acting as befits rulers, they swarmed like pigs to anything novel and profitable brought by worthless people!”

He grabbed the wine bottle the trembling maid brought and drank directly from it. Though slightly uncouth, the man before him was a long-time friend. He wouldn’t get angry over this.

He must have sensed how displeased Nagayoshi was to behave this way.

“That sounds tough. You are a great man trying to restore Japan to its proper state. It’s clear what kind of people can’t understand your thoughts…”

With a satisfied slap of his knee, Nagayoshi smiled happily. Indeed, he acted for the sake of everyone, yet they showed no understanding.

“They are short-sighted fools who can’t grasp my lofty vision!”

He tried to recall a famous proverb but, forgetting it, covered it up with a strong tone.

He then ordered the maid to leave and cleared the room of people. The men on the sofas were long-time trusted friends, so there was no problem.

He decided after seeing tonight’s soirée. He must save Japan.

“It’s not just about the Miyoshi family’s prosperity. If I don’t act now, Japan will be doomed… We need another coup. Target Ashikaga. Seize him and gain air power. As Prime Minister Ashikaga, command others to suppress them.”

“Thank you for deciding. As expected of Miyoshi Nagayoshi. We’ll devote ourselves to assisting you.”

“Thank you. They must be off-guard after tonight’s soirée. Moving now can suppress both the Yuki family and Amanogahara Corporation’s executives.”

Draining his wine and placing the glass on the table with a thud, Nagayoshi Miyoshi’s eyes shone with ambition.

“I rely on you, my dear friend Uriel.”

With a broad grin, Miyoshi Nagayoshi returned the smile to the man before him.
