Chapter 6: Chapter 6 - Chan e Kun
I, Suoh Mikoto, stopped in front of a certain building, apparently abandoned. The building is large and located in an abandoned zone or district.
There are no people within a wide radius of this area. If there's anyone, it's a homeless person. Homeless people in this country are rare.
This building I'm standing in front of is the hideout of the small group Azazel created.
I'm here in front of the hideout, why? I'm being paid.
Money has always been my problem since the orphanage was attacked by demons after me. Bunch of pests, they're like mosquitoes drawn to fire. Living on the run from them. To eat, I stole from stores; it's not too hard when you have magic. The house, I used magic to create a hypnotic effect on the owners; I did the same at school. This country and its rules.
Any child or teenager on the street outside school hours would attract the authorities' attention. I didn't want to keep using magic to create a hypnotic effect; do you have any idea how hard it is to do that when no one taught you?
Turning my gaze back to the building's entrance door, I start thinking. How should I enter? Knock on the door or call someone. Hmm… this is complicated; I think I'll do it my way.
I took a few steps back. Then I jumped, extending my right foot toward the door.
At that moment, the world seemed to slow down as the doorknob turned, and who appeared in front of me was Tobio Ikuse. For some reason, he's wearing his school uniform, even though he's not going to high school with all the chaos.
My foot soon hit Tobio's face, sending him flying backward. Tobio crashed into what should've been the hotel's reception area. The impact was strong; the reception desk broke, and Tobio got stuck in the rubble.
I quickly dodged a little dog with a sword coming out of its forehead.
"Who are you?" While I dodged the little dog, a girl spoke. It was Natsume Minagawa who spoke, also wearing a school uniform. What's with the kids in this world and school uniforms?
To avoid trouble like the one from a few days ago, I responded, "Suoh Mikoto, a human dragon, at your service, miss!"
I would've taken her hand and kissed it like a gentleman or prince. But this little dog won't leave me alone.
The little dog, seeing that I was only dodging side to side, changed its strategy to lateral attacks.
"Stupid dog!" Saying that, I took a small leap forward toward the little dog. "Go lick your owner!" And I kicked it toward where Tobio was.
The sound the little dog made as it felt pain was very pleasing to my ears. Must be because I've never liked dogs. I prefer cats.
Natsume spoke after I practiced animal cruelty. "You're the kid in the red armor? The rival of the white brat?"
I nodded, shaking my head with a yes! "It's rude not to introduce yourself when someone tells you their name!"
Natsume got embarrassed. You could tell by her rosy cheeks. It's something strange I noticed while observing people from time to time and watching anime before being sent to this world by that Stingy God. I observed people when I wasn't being hunted by damn demons.
It was interesting to see how people act differently in a different world. And I noticed that rosy or red cheeks aren't just a sign that a girl likes something or someone but also a sign that she's embarrassed. Hmph! And strangely, men also get rosy or red cheeks, especially when they're drunk.
The logic behind rosy and red cheeks is still a mystery.
"Oh?! Sorry! My name is Natsume Minagawa. The boy you kicked is Tobio Ikuse, and the little dog is called Jin."
So, they've already chosen names for their Sacred Gears? He must already be here… the delinquent, Kouki Samejima.
"Pleasure to meet you, Minagawa-chan!"
"Likewise, Mikoto… Chan?!" Natsume took a moment to process that I used the suffix Chan.
I may have a young body, but my mental age is older. And I'm stronger! So, I have the right to treat weaker people with a kun or chan suffix, even if I'm younger. Although chan is used for close friends or lovers, it still means "little" and is often used when talking to children. To me, Natsume's power is too small; she's too weak to earn my respect.
"Woof! Woof! Woof!"
I shifted my attention to the little dog, which had climbed out of the rubble of the counter. The hotel's reception desk was broken, turning into a pile of debris.
The little dog seems to have gotten angry! I can feel its murderous intent… insignificant… but it's still murderous intent. I should respond in kind.
"Stop, Jin!" Tobio said, emerging from the destroyed counter. Lucky little dog; just as I was about to unleash my murderous intent on it to teach it not to bark at me.
Tobio seems to be in pain in his head; his face is also dirty, and his nose is bleeding. What happened?
[You kicked him in the face, and he hit his head. What did you expect would happen?]
Huh?! So that's what happened? I forgot about Tobio's existence in the presence of a beauty like Natsume. Thanks for reminding me, Ddraig.
I prefer to maintain a polite appearance, especially to lose the virginity of this new body with some of the girls who'll be here in the future or one of the two already here. For that… oh, come on, just save the girls in this world or show how powerful you are, and they're already in love, and you've got a harem.
I approached Tobio, who's already holding the little dog in his arms like a newborn baby, the only difference being a wagging tail and a drooling tongue in Tobio's arms. Disgusting; that's why I prefer cats.
"You must be Ikuse-kun? Pleasure, I'm Suoh Mikoto, the red dragon! But you probably remember me as the kid in the red armor from a few days ago."
Hmm? Tobio seems confused. I remember the same thing happened when he met Vali. Tobio got confused when Vali proclaimed himself Maou and Dragon, and those stupid poses Vali makes at this age.
I'd better not wait for a turtle to respond. How can Tobio still be so slow to process things, even after being involved in the supernatural world? Maou, Dragons—it shouldn't be strange.
I ignored Tobio and his slowness and focused on the busty beauty hiding them under that outfit.
"You guys seem to be heading out. Is it something important, a mission?" I asked, looking at Natsume.
"Oh! Yes! We're going to buy ingredients for lunch!"
Hmm… do they have money? They're students without parents or any relatives. Where did they get money? Looks like there's already a noticeable change in the canon.
Well, I'd better meet the others.
"Sorry for interrupting."
"It's nothing. Don't worry; we're not in a rush or anything…"
That forced smile doesn't fool anyone. But those rosy cheeks make it obvious that Natsume is embarrassed by my apology.
"I'm heading up. See you, Minagawa-chan, Tobio-kun, and… little doggy!"
"See you, Mikoto-kun!"
Looks like Natsume will use kun with my name. Tobio is still lost in his confusion. Man… how is he so slow? How is it possible that he's still alive with that reaction time, slower than a slug?
xXx
Tobio and Natsume are walking down the deserted street of the city's abandoned area.
Both are heading to the supermarket to buy food supplies. Since Vali's instant noodle diet is not only getting tiresome but also unhealthy.
"Minagawa-san?"
"What?"
"Why did he call me kun… I mean, I'm older and…"
"Because we're weak!"
"Huh?!"
"He treated us as beneath him because we're weaker than him. For those with power, age doesn't matter; if you're weaker, they treat you like a child."
"I see…"
Natsume had seen that Suoh treated them as inferior because they're weak compared to him. Tobio felt a bit down, depressed; not only did Vali defeat him like it was nothing, but the one who defeated Vali treated him like a child, an inferior person who wasn't worth his time.
Natsume clenched her fists. She was determined; she wanted to become stronger and… not be treated like a child by a child.
The little dog, Jin's eyes sparkled. He wanted a rematch and would have one someday.
