I looked at the little girl, she was just nearing three years old and looked the part though. We were currently in another one of the gardens. 

"Yes, they certainly are. You should hurry up before a monster comes and eats all your cookies."

Seekvaira's face paled. "A m-monster!?" 

She raised her hands clutching her head. 

I nodded grimly. "Yes, it comes and eats all the cookies and sometimes even takes children." 

Seekvaira looked absolutely shocked. She stood up from the chair. 

"Then what can we do now?" 

She looked very serious, as serious as a two-year-old can look. 

"I don't know" I replied to her. 

"Let's defeat the monster." 

She said very seriously and continued-

"I will help you defeat the monster." 

Her eyes contained fierce determination.

Pfft- 

I controlled my laughter. 

'Control Vael, don't ruin this'

I faked as if absolutely moved by her words. 

"Yes, Seekvaira." 

I too stood up, maintaining my serious facade and Rias was in all honesty really serious. 

And we walked forward going to another garden we had in Beleth Clan. 

"Wait, Vael." 

I looked at Seekvaira she walked back again and took all the cookies in her hand. Her face is as serious as ever. 

"Let's go!" 

She said in a determined voice munching the cookies.

...

"Meanie" Seekvaira had a pout on her face. She had still not gotten over the small and dumb prank I had played on her.

A genuine smile surfaced on my face. Acting like the kid was really fun. I could do and say anything although I don't do that. It was not because I wanted to act mature and edgy.

It was just me being me. 

'I had really reincarnated on DxD'

The thought alone made me question my existence. I had read a lot of fan fiction growing up and the thought of me being in a fanfic had also crossed my mind.

It was a dangerous pattern of thoughts. What if someone was actually reading my thoughts as I spoke? What if someone was writing all of this?

'Should I try dying to see if I really was a main character in a silly fanfic?'

'Sigh'

Unknowingly a sigh escaped my mouth. 

I instantly felt Seekvaira glaring at me. "Are you annoyed at me?"

"Hu-What?"

"The older people only do this when they are annoyed," Seekvaira said mimicking the motion of my sigh. 

"Pfft-" I snorted. She was just a child. 

And I was as well but only physically.

"Don't laugh!' Seekvaira said hitting my shoulder with her tiny hands. Of course, it did not hurt, and She was also not hitting it with her full force, but it still wouldn't hurt. 

I was after all trained by one of the greatest knights in both human history and the present underworld.

"Aw it hurts" I faked and of course, the two-year-old believed it easily. She made a surprised and then sad expression. 

"I am sorry"

Her apology was genuine. 

PAT

I patted her head, a small on my face. 

"I was joking."

Her expression instantly changed, and she assaulted me with the fury of punches and slaps, and I stepped back, dodging them with no issues.

"Come here."

"No," I replied with a grin.

'Life was good. I was not an edgy main character of a silly fanfic with a sigma mindset. I was just I, a human reincarnated as a devil who just wanted to live life to the fullest.'

'But to live life to the fullest, I had to grow much stronger. This world required strength, strength to protect what and whom I loved, strength to make things my way.'

In a way, this was my reason to grow stronger. To make things go my way.

"Bye Vael."

I looked at Seekvaira's happy-sad mix face.

'She really tried to bring me to Agares palace.'

I did promise her that I would visit her soon. 

"Bye, Seekvaira" Her name was a mouthful.

FLASH

With a dim flash of green light. Seekvaira along with one of her maids left our state. Disappearing along with the teleportation circle.

Lord Agares had already left us. He was usually busy, but he had a meeting with my father about something and also, they were close friends.

That's why he had brought along Seekvaira. 

I did have a theory in mind for why he would bring along his daughter. 

"You sad?" Brisha Beleth questioned me teasingly.

"Nah although it was fun playing with her."

She had a smirk on her face as She said. "I could see that."

"Yeah."

And just like that, I left the room.

...My theory was right. 

I was engaged to Seekvaira Agares.
