DxD: Lost in Time

Chapter 42: Bloodshed: The Objective

"No… this cannot be happening!"

A grief-stricken Natsumi hovered midair, her body trembling as she stared in horror at the site of the explosion. The blast had been devastating

Far too sudden, far too fast for her to react in time.

Her heart pounded violently against her ribs, dread pooling in her stomach like molten lead. The very idea that something could harm him, that something had pierced through his defenses... was unthinkable.

And yet, here they were.

The smoke billowed across the battlefield, obscuring everything in a dense, swirling cloud of debris. For a terrifying moment, she couldn't sense his presence. Was he…?

No.

She exhaled softly, a deep sigh escaping her lips—one that seemed to carry the weight of all her turbulent emotions. Relief washed over her like a cold wave as the dust began to settle.

He was alive.

Hisashi emerged from the chaos, his armor cracked and barely holding together. His once-pristine clothes were torn to shreds, his haori reduced to little more than tattered strips fluttering around his waist. His bare torso, lean and sculpted with the evidence of his strength, glistened faintly beneath the battlefield's hazy light.

Small fragments of ivory clattered to the ground, the remnants of his shattered mask. The brittle sound echoed through the battlefield, cutting through the eerie silence that followed.

Gasps rippled through the enemy ranks. Warriors stood frozen in place, their faces pale with shock. For all their arrogance, for all their belief that he was just another obstacle.

This scene shattered that illusion entirely.

He was bloodied. Bruised. And yet… he stood.

Hisashi appeared by her side in an instant, his familiar presence as steady as ever. Despite his injuries, despite the violence that had nearly consumed him, he wore a calm, reassuring smile.

"That... was oddly exhillarating and dangerously close." he muttered under his breath, his voice low and even.

Her lips parted slightly, torn between chastising him and the sheer relief coursing through her veins. But before she could speak, he shifted his gaze toward the shimmering tear in space that was mending itself

He breaths a sigh of relief.

"It seems," Hisashi said, stretching his arm out and flexing his fingers, "I'll need to use a lot more of my power for the next phase. This woman… she's no ordinary devil."

His tone was casual, but the glint in his eyes betrayed a deeper truth

This was serious.

Natsumi's heart clenched. The thought of leaving him alone to face such a threat gnawed at her instincts. Everything in her screamed to stay.

"I can't just leave you here to fight her alone!" she protested, her voice sharp with concern.

His smile didn't waver. "Don't worry about me," he said softly. "I'll be fine."

She wanted to believe him, she really did, but her gut told her otherwise. She knew just how much power he had left to unleash, how many terrifying forms he still held in reserve. But that didn't erase her fear.

This woman, whoever she was, was on a completely different level. And as strong as Hisashi was… even he had limits. He needed something more.

But she also knew the truth. If she stayed here, she would only be a liability. A distraction.

And if there was one thing she couldn't afford to be right now, it was weak.

Her hands clenched into fists at her sides. The least she could do was continue the fight elsewhere, cutting through their enemies, decreasing their numbers, or taking out the stronger threats close to her own level.

"Remember the mission, Shinku!"

She sighed as he referred to her. Yes, her code name was Shinku no Yami, or in other words Unknown Deep Crimson to put it simply...

Somehow related to her fullbring nature.

Their task was quite simple. They had to reduce the enemy tanks as much as possible. The Old Satan Factions got ahold of the Phenex Tears, so leaving them to die was not an option.

How they did? Obviously from their spoils which Hisashi never once thought of collecting. She should remind him of that.

Additionally, in case two of the commanders show up, then they are to continue causing as much havoc as possible.

That was their mission.

If Hisashi was going to hold the line here… then she would ensure no one else stood in his way.

Without another word, Natsumi vanished into thin air.

A flicker of green light before disappearing entirely from sight.

Hisashi turned back toward the shimmering tear in space, a spark of anticipation igniting in his chest. This fight, it was only just beginning.

Hisashi's sharp gaze swept over the woman who had just attacked him. There was something eerily familiar about her. An aura that screamed danger, but also... recognition.

Dark skin, bitchy attutude... Sounds familiar...

His thoughts churned as he analyzed her form: the cruel curve of her smile, the aura of raw power rolling off her in waves, and the unmistakable bloodlust lingering beneath her composed exterior.

Is she…?

His lips curled into a smirk as realization clicked into place.

"Your description matches what Serafall Sitri told me about," he said, voice cool and biting. "You're the woman who injured my friend… aren't you?"

Her smile widened, dripping with arrogance as she tilted her head to the side. "And what if I am?" she purred. "What could a mongrel like you possibly understand?"

A soft chuckle escaped his lips, low and condescending. His words, however, were far sharper.

"I'd expect better from someone who struts around like a third-rate seductress."

A tense silence hung in the air.

Even Hisashi knew that was over the line.

Did he care?

Not really.

The woman's smile twitched. "…Did you just call me a slut?"

Hisashi shrugged, feigning indifference. "So what if I did?"

Her face twisted in rage as magic flared violently around her. "I'll make you regret every word. You'll choke on every letter you uttered!"

Without warning, she unleashed a massive blast of magic. A searing wave of destructive energy that howled through the battlefield. It crashed into Hisashi's position, erupting in a thunderous explosion that sent debris flying in all directions. A deep crater scarred the ground where he once stood, shrouded in a thick veil of dust.

Yet… there was no body.

A familiar, mocking voice cut through the chaos.

"No thanks."

When the dust settled, Hisashi stood a few meters away, completely unharmed. An infuriatingly casual expression plastered across his face.

The woman's lips curled back into a smile, but this time there was a glint of something more dangerous—amusement.

"I'll definitely make you my plaything," she murmured, her voice dripping with sadistic intent.

Hisashi arched a brow. "Hard pass. You're not even half as appealing as Serafall…" His sword gleamed as he raised it before him, the blade humming with power.

That did it.

With a feral snarl, she lunged toward him—too fast for the untrained eye to follow.

He didn't flinch.

"Swallow All Things In Creation… Sō Kaikyō no Yūzūi!!"

The moment the words left his lips, the air trembled.

A violent storm of energy exploded around him—a swirling maelstrom that distorted space itself. The sheer force of the technique repelled everything in its vicinity, reducing incoming attacks to nothing and forcing the woman back as the battlefield trembled beneath their power.

The gap between them was clear.

And Hisashi?

He stood at the center of it all—calm, composed, and wholly unimpressed. The gleam in his eyes said it all, she was an opponent, not a woman.

"C'mon, Let's Dance Leviathan!"

Happy Reading Everybody!

Things are tense aren't they? I revealed a bit too much so it shouldn't be too hard to guess. Let me know if I made any errors.

Also, I am currently in a bind. I don't know which of these worlds to intergrate, so I chose four. Others will pop in the future.

1. The Eminence in Shadow

2. The Misfit Of The Demon King Academy

3. The Quintessential Quantipulets

These are ones I am familiar with right now, and I can still remember the plot. I am in the process of watching other anime, so I might add more in future poles as this is not the last one.

I really wish you do, otherwise...

I really don't know, I will just write them all.

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
