Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The Drama
Hanzo remained silent from afar and watched the drama with Raynare as the main character, a bag of popcorn in his hand.. He could clearly see in Raynare's every move, although she still played the role of the gentle girlfriend perfectly, but underneath that was hypocrisy and cruelty. Raynare was a fallen angel and she was also a formidable person in manipulating human emotions.
Issei stood there, in shyness, his eyes not daring to look straight at Raynare. He was still confused, unable to understand the complicated emotions swirling in his heart. The warm feeling of being next to Raynare made him want to prolong this moment forever. But a part of him also began to doubt, as if something was wrong.
Raynare didn't let him think for too long. She gave him a gentle smile, but there was a coldness hidden within it that was hard to detect.
"You're so sweet, Issei-kun," Raynare said, her eyes sweeping over him with tenderness. "I feel like I'm living in a dream."
Issei blushed, scratching his head. "Me too… I never imagined I could have such a wonderful date."
Raynare smiled, her eyes flashing with a strange light, just for a moment, before she regained her composure. "I think you've fallen for a girl like me, right?"
Issei didn't reply immediately. He hesitated, feeling a little confused. "You… you're the first person I've ever really wanted to spend time with."
Issei looked at Raynare, worried as her expression suddenly became complicated. A long silence stretched between them, making the atmosphere tense. He could sense the change in Raynare's gaze, but didn't understand why.
"What's wrong, Yuuma-chan?" Issei asked, trying to lighten the heavy atmosphere. He looked at her with confusion, wondering if he had said something wrong during his confession.
Raynare took a deep breath, her gaze becoming thoughtful and heavy.
"Issei-kun, I need to tell you something," Raynare began, her voice low. "I'm not Yuuma… My real name is Raynare, and I'm a fallen angel."
Issei was startled, unable to comprehend what he had just heard.
"What?" Issei exclaimed, his mind spinning. "You're… a fallen angel?"
"That's right. I was sent here on a mission… I was ordered to assassinate you, Issei-kun."
Those words were like a slap in the face to Issei. He couldn't believe his ears.
"Kill me?" Issei stuttered.
"That's right, but… I probably won't be able to do that."
"What do you mean?"
"You made me feel things I never felt before. These feelings…"
Issei looked at her, feeling a strange sense of relief when she said that, but at the same time, he couldn't fully understand what was going on.
"You said you have feelings for me?" Issei asked back.
Raynare looked up at Issei, her eyes filled with conflict. "I can't explain it, but it's true. The moments with you, when we talked, laughed… everything made me feel different. I couldn't follow orders anymore."
Issei felt like he was in a dream. He didn't know what to do.
"But why me? I didn't do anything to deserve being killed?" Issei asked, although there were many people who hated him for being a pervert, but certainly not to the point of sending a fallen angel to kill him.
"That's the power that's sleeping deep within your body. Or rather, the Sacred Gear inside you. That was the cause." Raynare answered frankly.
Issei still couldn't believe what Raynare had just said, when she revealed the reason why she had to assassinate him. He felt shocked and confused, not understanding why he was involved in such things.
"So… you said I have some kind of power?" Issei asked, his voice filled with doubt. "Sacred Gear? What is it?"
"It's a special power, Issei-kun. A power that humans cannot fully understand. The Sacred Gear is an artifact that God has given to certain people. Those who possess it will have enormous power. That's why my superiors ordered your assassination, because they feared that power would awaken and become a threat."
Issei took a step back, feeling like everything around him was collapsing. He was killed because of a power he didn't know about. Meanwhile, Raynarer looked at him with guilt, and her eyes were filled with sadness.
"I… I didn't want to do it, but I had no choice. I had to complete the mission. But after spending time with you, I… I can't do it anymore. I can't hurt you."
At this moment, a cold voice rang out, cutting off their conversation.
"Raynare," the voice was hard and full of contempt. A figure appeared from the sky, it was another fallen angel, with long blue hair and black wings. She looked at Raynare with a cold gaze. "You really didn't complete the mission? Why are you so close to a human?"
Issei turned to look at the newcomer, feeling confused and scared when he saw that this person seemed much stronger than Raynare.
Raynare showed no fear, only coldly replied: "Kalawarner, I can't kill him. He doesn't deserve to die."
Kalawarner stepped forward, his eyes filled with resentment. "You are such a failure! The orders were clear, and you let your emotions interfere. You want to protect him? Such a useless person, not worth your protection."
Issei felt the atmosphere change immediately. Kalawarner didn't pay any attention to him, but only focused on Raynare.
"It's best to complete the mission and return before the superior gets angry." Kalawarner raised his hand and created a spear of light, aiming it straight at Issei.
"No!" Raynare shouted when she saw that Issei couldn't dodge.
With a lightning-fast movement, Raynare rushed towards Issei and used her body to block him. The spear hit Raynare, causing her to be thrown away, staggering and falling to the ground, blood spurting from her mouth. Issei panicked, and hurriedly ran over.
"Raynare! Are you okay?" Issei called out her name, his heart pounding in worry. He knelt down beside Raynare, looking at the wound on her body with fear.
Raynare, despite being heavily injured, still tried to smile weakly. "Issei-kun… I… I can't let you get hurt…" She muttered, but the pain prevented her from continuing.
Kalawarner stood there, looking at them with disdain. "Are you really in love with him, Raynare? Such a weak human?"
Suddenly, a strange energy began to surge within Issei's body. He felt an enormous power flowing through him, and he seemed unable to control it. A red glove appeared on Issei's left hand. It was his Sacred Gear.
Kalawarner took a step back, sensing the sudden change in space. "He… he awakened?"
At this moment, a figure stepped out from the darkness. Both Issei and Raynare were startled, because the person who appeared was none other than Hanzo — Issei's classmate, an ordinary student that he never expected to appear in this situation.
"Oi, oi, what's all the fuss about, Issei." Hanzo said, his voice filled with complaints. Although his words didn't seem very serious, his cold eyes and appearance surprised everyone.
Issei saw Hanzo and felt a little surprised, then immediately turned to him, his eyes filled with pleading.
"Aniki, you have to help me! Raynare is injured, please save her!"
Hanzo raised his eyebrows a little but didn't seem surprised. He stood still for a moment and then sighed.
"I can help, but not without conditions." Hanzo said, his eyes shifting to Raynare, who was still lying in a pool of blood and breathing.
"You have to remember that everything has a price. I didn't do it out of kindness."
Issei didn't care about those words, he just begged: "Please, I can't let her die. She saved me!"
Hanzo looked at him, then nodded. "Alright, remember, I only helped you because I didn't want you guys to make a fuss anymore."
With a calm movement, Hanzo took out a small bean from his pocket. "This is a senzu bean, a special bean that I use to heal wounds. He will recover as soon as he eats it."
In just a few seconds, a miracle happened. Raynare, although still weak, the wounds on her body began to heal, the blood gradually disappeared, and she began to open her eyes. She looked around, her vision a little blurry, but then, when she realized that she was still alive, she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Raynare…" Issei exclaimed, delighted. "Thank you, Aniki!"
Hanzo did not reply immediately, but turned to Kalawarner, who was standing there, watching the whole thing with a challenging expression. "She's the one who caused this, right?" Hanzo said.
Kalawarner had not left yet, and her expression began to harden. "Who are you? Do you think you can stop me?"
Hanzo did not reply, instead, he took a step forward and reached out, pulling a crimson spear from the air, its light radiating a blood-red color. The spear was long, sharp, and menacing, making the surrounding air seem heavier.
"Of course I can," Hanzo said, holding the spear tightly.
With a quick and precise movement, Hanzo charged towards Kalawarner. She didn't have time to react, but just as Hanzo's spear was about to touch her, Kalawarner quickly raised her hand and created a spear of light. A loud bang rang out as their weapons clashed.
Kalawarner let out a scream as she felt the power from the spear. She backed away, then looked at Hanzo with eyes filled with hatred.
"Who are you? How do you have such power?" Kalawarner asked, her hands clenched, ready to continue fighting.
Hanzo looked at her, fearless. "I am the one who will kill you. And now, I will show you the difference between us."
With a powerful swing, Hanzo knocked the spear out of Kalawarner's hand, sending her flying backwards. A few more attacks from him left Kalawarner starting to hurt, showing that she was completely overwhelmed.
Finally, after a few minutes of fierce fighting, Kalawarner realized that she could not win. She let out an angry roar, then turned and flew away, leaving Issei, Raynare, and Hanzo standing there, watching her leave.
Once Kalawarner was out of sight, Issei let out a sigh of relief. He turned back to look at Raynare, who had stood up, although she was still a bit weak, but at least she wasn't seriously injured anymore.
"Thank you, Aniki. You saved both of us," Issei said in a grateful voice.
Hanzo just shrugged. "Don't thank me. I just don't want to see my friend in such a bad situation."
"I'll be leaving now, if you have any questions, come see me tomorrow." With those words, Hanzo walked away, leaving Issei in a state of confusion and strange feelings.
Elsewhere, Rias and the others had complicated expressions as they watched the situation unfold.
