Dungeons, Idiots, Treasures, How Hard Can It Be?

Chapter 25: Mushroom Caves (3)

Frantic steps were heard while trying to gauge what was happening in front of them.

A familiar voice whispered in their ear who's tone was dripping with venom while their fingers trailed across their cheek.

"Leandros, don't forget me, do not forget Lilia, Markus, and Caladel... Don't forget your worst and only mistake!"

When they turned their head to look who was speaking to their ear.

There was only a black shadow of a humanoid figure, no mouth, no eyes, no nose, everything about them was nothing but a figure.

Somewhere in the cave, a white spark shook the entire cave with only it's mere presence at that moment.

Feeling the shake, Volhcard woke up to sees himself cradled in Idol's hands next to Yuni.

The presence he felt was a mix of divinity and chaos... But what stunned him the most was the absolute confusion of what he knew.

It also had the presence of Sticky within the chaos and divinity, yet he shook his head thinking somewhere in the cave Sticky was awakening.

That sheer force of will kept him up and he could no longer deny it... He felt that his faith in the Glorious Life was wavering.

Feeling Idol's pistons activating Volhcard weakly stood up while grabbing his staff. The singular eye of Idol opened up as it stared at it's master.

"Let's get a move on, and careful not to wake her up."

Jumping off the hands of Idol whilst dusting himself he started walking further deeper into the cave while Idol followed.

"Have you heard of Laguna, Idol?"

Idol scanned through his system archives locating for any sources of Laguna.

Right as the machine was about to answer their gaze focused on Volhcard. He had just stopped walking, and looking back at Idol with a smile that emitted calmness.

Knowing what was about to happen Idol prepared themselves and sat down while carefully trying not to wake Yuni who was still asleep in their arms.

"Laguna is the Mother of Magic, as she created all types of magic, forms of techniques, and the circulation of mana... She was known to have 5 divine vessels here right now on this instant. Her vessels of course have divine authorities, and can you guess one of the vessels?"

The machine could only shake their head in response to the question. This made Volhcard chuckle before raising the staff and aiming it towards the sleeping Yuni.

"One of the 5 vessels of Laguna... She wields over the authority of cutting through mana itself, and divine protections such as immunity to any weapon unless wielded by a magic user, immunity to mind control however illusion spells are an exception if said mage is powerful enough."

The revelation was surprising even for the machine, and even though Idol didn't realize at the time but the reason their hands were shaking was because of shock.

Then, Volhcard carefully created a blue orb which swirled with all the elements wherein he gave it to Idol.

"Keep it safe, and give it to Theo when the time is right."

The orb was tucked in place next to the core of Idol, and so they continued their venture into the cave.

"Also don't tell Yumi only when she's ready, understand?"

The machine nodded whilst the two continue walking down the cave. Soon, they reached a massive clearing wherein a dark purple spark was situated on a small scale on the left, and on the right was a light blue colored spark situated inside a test tube.

"These are lord Theo's and lady Jae's sparks."

Said Idol as he carefully placed Yumi down on the ground whilst a small barrier covered her sleeping body.

There was now an imbalance in the mana circulation around them due to the forces colliding within each other. The sparks were an imbalance in mana density because of Theo's immense mana pool from the Umbral Mark, and Jae's insignificant mana pool which both were opposites.

It created small bursts of mana which would at random intervals hit any point of the area they were in, and if unlucky could possibly also hit them.

Those bursts worried Volhcard more than anything due to the fact that he couldn't create a barrier to withstand the bursts because of his recent awakening from mana exhaustion.

"Take forth your staff and absorb the imbalance between the two... Heed for you might just die doing this."

A faint ethereal voice of both man and woman whispered in the ears of Volhcard. Closing his eyes, he takes a deep breath before tightly gripping the staff in his right.

"Was that you Almighty Glorious Life?"

Yet he gained no answer from the voice, and even though his faith was wavering it was only a small waver.

Raising the staff up high he started slowly spinning it in a circular motion which caused the flow of mana between the two sparks to be drawn to the staff.

The small bursts of mana from the two sparks soon started to be more frequent, although random it was still dangerous as it had nearly struck them twice.

Another beam of mana moved at the lightning speeds only for Idol to cut through the mana with his left fist which was currently in the shape of a double edged axe.

With the mana circulation bouncing around in improper movements down to random frequencies the bursts would strike the nearest source of energy it was attracted to.

Finally when the sparks' energy merged into one it meant that these were the remaining energy left of the two sparks meaning that Theo and Jae can finally return.

Shling!

"Ack!"

Out of nowhere blood flew into the air from Volhcard's left arm wherein his left hand rolled down the ground. In front of him was now a hooded figure with a bastard sword that dripped blood.

Its hilt in the shape of a owl, the blade itself having ancient runes from the top down to its bottom, and the scabbard having golden serpent symbols trailing down.

Whoosh!

Idol now in front of the figure raised both their fists attempting to crush the figure, yet right as the machine was about to slam their fists an electricity bursts out of their neck.

Now the figure was behind Idol with a big cut on Idol's neck revealing that the cloaked figure had sliced it in just a blink of an eye.

"Who are you?"

Volhcard spoke, his right hand healing the wounds of where his left hand was once placed over. However, the hooded figure didn't reply and simply dashed towards Volhcard with broadsword aimed at his throat.

The attack was thwarted by Idol when they took the blow with their own body, and quickly retaliated by swing the axe down at the top of the figure's head.

"Idol wait!"

Volhcard's words didn't reach the machine in time as he saw Idol fall to the ground lifeless.

Suddenly with a moment to breathe the figure swung the broadsword towards his left arm, but just barely a bolt of lightning struck the figure's foot causing an imbalance.

Volhcard used this chance to absorb of what remained of the imbalance energy between the two sparks as the figure quickly recovered, and jumped in the air swinging the broadsword down in a straight line.

"Awaken..."

Boom!

A blinding light filled the area causing the figure to move their body around rolling down as they tightly grip the broadsword's handle.

"Who the hell are you to attack our medic?"

Volhcard chuckled hearing the familiar voice, a deep feeling of relief washed throughout his body.

Standing in front of him was Theo still wearing his clothing from before with his blunderbuss raised over his right shoulder, and to Theo's right was Jae already transformed into a flame wyvern

"Sorry for being late"

Volhcard stood up from where he was while holding on to the staff with his hand.

In response to Volhcard's apology he gave the dwarf a wink before turning his attention towards the figure who waited for them to finish talking.

"Care to answer my question from before?"

Right as he spoke the figure dashed towards him, and immediately Theo pulled the trigger of the blunderbuss. The bullet aiming straight for the figure's forehead, and right as it was about to collide it fell into the ground into pieces.

"Swift Stance?"
