Chapter 1: Chapter: 1 The Dual Awakening
The sprawling campus of Velaris Spirit Academy gleamed under the sun, its towering spires and shimmering spirit crystals a testament to centuries of tradition. Students gathered in the Spiritforge Hall, a vast chamber lined with glowing murals depicting legendary awakeners and their spirits. Today marked the Annual Ascension Ceremony, the day when aspirants would awaken their spirits and take the first step toward shaping their destiny. Kayn Veylan stood at the back of the crowd, his hands clenched into fists. Kayn's hair are black and good looking face with black eyes, anybody who stares in his eyes feel they are staring in pitch black darkness. Their is a mysterious aura around him which stood out from other students. "I heard only nobles awaken rare spirits." "Veylan? isn't his family…. disgraced ?" "Yeah, his father was expelled for failing to control his spirit." Kayn ignored the murmurs, his focus on the pedestal at the centre of the hall. It was the Primordial Awakening Crystal, an ancient relic said to be linked to the origin of all spirits. The crystal's surface shimmered like liquid starlight, its energy palpable even from a distance. Over four centuries ago,the Emergence reshaped the world. A cataclysmic event tore through the fabric of reality, merging the mortal plane with the Eheral veil, a realm of elemental and mystical beings. From that day forward, humans began awakening Spirits, ethereal entities bound to their souls. The process was far from simple. To awaken a spirit, one needed a deep connection to the Ethereal Veil, channeled through a Spirit Awakening Crystal. The rank of the Spirit — Common, Rare, Epic, or Mythical—determined an individual's potential in society. Rare spirit brought prestige, while Mythical ones made legends. For Kayn, today was more than a ceremony. It was a chance to escape his family's tarnished legacy. His father, once a promising awakener, had fallen from grace when his spirit lost control, leaving the Veylan name in disgrace. I can't fail," Kayn muttered under his breath. The hall quited as Headmaster Arden stepped onto the podium. His presence was commanding, his long robes embroidered with singles of fire and light. A radiant phoenix spirit hovered behind him, its fiery wings casting a warm glow across the chamber. "Student of Velaris," Ardyn begins his voice was deep and steady. "Today, you stand on the precipice of destiny. The spirits you awaken will determine your path—whether you rise as protectors, scholars or conquerors. But remember: power is not a privilege; it is a burden, Use it wisely." After finishing his speech headmaster raised his right hand to start the awakening ceremony. Then, first student approached the Primodial Awakening Crystal; placing their hand upon its surface. A soft glow enveloped them, and moment later, a silver falcon materialized. Cheers erupted— an impressive rare spirit for a noble heir. By seeing this other students become more excited. One by one, students stepped forward, each awakening their spirits. Common spirits like foxes and wolves drew polite applause, while Rare spirits elicited gasps and admiration. As the line grew shorter, Kayn's nerves tightened. What if he awakened a Common Spirit? Worse, what if he failed to awaken anything at all? "Kayn Veylan," the headmaster announced, his tone neutral. The whispers returned, louder than before. Kayn forced himself to walk forward, his steps were heavy under the weight of the expectation. He ignored the stares, smirks and the pitying glances. Reaching, the pedestal he placed his hand on the crystal. At first, nothing happened. The hall was silent, save for the faint hum of the crystal. Students who awakened Common rank spirits started act arrogant towards Kayn. Then, a pulse of energy shot through Kayn's arms, and his mind was pulled into a void of shadows and light. Images flashed before him — a vast forest shrouded in darkness, the faint glow of the golden eyes piercing the gloom. A deep growl rumbled, following by thunderous roar of something ancient and immense. The crystal erupted with light, sending waves of energy across the hall. The glow turned dark, shifting into swirling shadows that coiled around Kayn. Gasps echoed as the first spirit emerged —a sleek Abyss Shadow Wolf, its violet eyes were glowing fiercely. "A Rare Spirit!" someone whispered. But before the crowd could murmur among themselves, the crystal pulsed again, brighter and fiercer. The shadows deepened, swirling into a massive form. A Shadow Dragon emerged, its obsidian scales shimmering with an eerie light. Its golden eyes licked onto kayn, exuding the aura of raw power and authority. The hall fell into stunned silence. Headmaster Ardyn stepped forward, his phoenix spirit started flaring protectively, which decrease the pressure. However, it was still posing threat to his spirit which is Epic Rank which clearly shows that this power is above epic level. Then headmaster said something "Dual awakening…. This is unprecedented." Kayn staggered, overwhelming by the pressure of his spirits energy. The dragon's voice echoed in his mind, ancient and commanding: "You're bound to the abyss, mortal. Rise or be consumed by its depths." The wolf growled, its voice sharp and cunning: " Strength is earned, not given. Prove your worth or fall into the nothingness." The spirits dissipated, their forms retreated into Kayn's soul. When he opened his eyes, the room wa a mix of awe and unease. "Kayn Veylan," the head master said, his voice was trembling slightly. You have awakened dual spirits…. One of them is a Mythical Rank. Such a phenomenon has not been recorded in centuries. The crowd erupted in chaos, what just they saw was legendary Mythical Rank spirit. Something that has not reappeared for three centuries. Some students looked at him with envy. others with fear. Kayn's hear pounded as he returned to his place, his fists clenched. As the ceremony continued, Kayn felt the stares of his peers boring into his back. He had achieved what most could only dream of, but he knew this was only the beginning. The Shadow dragon's voiced echoed faintly into his mind: Do not falter, boy. The path before you is steep. and the abyss is always watching." Above him , the faint glow of the Primordial Awaiening Crystal seemed to be pulse, as if recognizing the storm that had just begun.
