Dual Cultivator with a cultivation system

Chapter 352: Ch-352

Notice:

Sorry, everyone, for not updating any chapters over the past few days. I mainly wrote this chapter to explain the reason for my absence.

You see, I had too many assignments and exams at university. Moreover, the day they ended, I went out to eat with my friends. When I came home, I was feeling lazy, and the next day I started to feel unwell. So, I didn't upload any chapters.

My fever didn't subside, and my mom noticed that my eyes had turned yellow. She suspected it might be jaundice. I went to the doctor, got some tests done, and it turns out I do have jaundice. The doctor told me to rest and stay away from my phone.

So yeah, I won't be able to upload regularly for a few more days. I apologize again. Even this chapter is very short.

"Fuck, you can't be human, can you?" Tang Nian murmured as she watched Wang Ming effortlessly kill one beast after another.

"Eh? How did you know I'm not just a human, but an extremely special human—strong, handsome, and unique?" Wang Ming said in a narcissistic tone, causing Tang Nian's lips to twitch.

[ Ding Dong ]

[ A disciple from the Yang-Yin Sect has entered the rankings ]

Tang Nian's eyes widened in shock as she saw the message, but before she could say anything, she noticed a flicker of surprise on Wang Ming's face.

"Hey, do you know who it is? Is it a Core Disciple?" Tang Nian asked curiously.

"No..." Min Li, who had overheard the question, muttered in disbelief, her jaw hanging open.

"Yes, I know her. She's my Dao companion—and like me, she's also participating in the exam," Wang Ming said nonchalantly.

"WHAT?!" Tang Nian shouted in disbelief, staring at Wang Ming as if he'd grown a second head. But seeing that he wasn't joking or lying, she was completely dumbfounded.

Gulp.

Tang Nian swallowed a mouthful of saliva as sweat started dripping from her forehead—soon it felt like she was taking a shower in it. She didn't move for several seconds, her brain struggling to process what she'd just heard.

'Fuck, what kind of monsters are participating this year? First it was Wang Ming, then another—and they're both from the same sect?!' Tang Nian cursed inwardly, realizing her elder sister might not even secure second place this year thanks to these anomalies.

Heavenly Sword Sect

The Sect Master and the other elders sat in silence. The atmosphere in the room was heavy, gloomy, and tense as they stared at the notification that had just appeared. Their jaws were practically hanging open and their eyes wide with disbelief. A few elders even pinched themselves to check if they were hallucinating.

Then, slowly and hesitantly, they turned to look at Tang Ning, whose expression was far from good. Her face twitched as she stared at the notification, her fists clenched tightly. She took deep breaths to calm herself, but her bloodshot eyes betrayed the storm within.

"Looks like even second place is out of reach," one of the elders whispered, breaking the silence. He immediately regretted it as cold sweat formed on his forehead—everyone turned to glare at him, and the look from the Sect Master was the most terrifying of all.

"Elder, if you can't say something helpful or encouraging, keep your mouth shut," Hui Mei snapped, glaring at him. The elder quickly averted his gaze, and she snorted in irritation.

She then turned to look at her disciple. Tang Ning's confidence seemed to have plummeted, judging by the defeated look on her face. Hui Mei was just about to say something to comfort her when—

"Looks like I need to aim for third place. I just hope there aren't any more anomalies," Tang Ning said in a resigned voice.

The elders looked at her in a new light. If it had been them in her shoes, they might have gone mad with frustration. Her calm acceptance earned their respect.

"Yes… you should aim for third place," one of the elders said gently.

"Indeed. Third place is still a great achievement. Don't feel discouraged—it's not that you're weak, it's that they're just too strong," added another.

Tang Ning looked at the elders trying to lift her spirits and gave them a stiff, grateful smile.

Yang-Yin Sect

"Huff... good thing I acted quickly," Jiang Hong said, wiping the sweat from his forehead. The others also looked relieved, knowing that Bai Lingxi's name hadn't been exposed—the Sect Master had acted before the name could be displayed.

Ring Ring.

Everyone turned to look at their communication tokens, which were ringing nonstop. Their expressions twitched in irritation.

"Sigh... can't those bastards be a little more patient?" Lei Ping muttered, silencing his token and ignoring the light still flashing, indicating the calls hadn't stopped.

"You can't really blame the other sect masters and elders. Honestly, we'd be doing the same thing if we were in their place," Zhou Huixin said seriously. However, the smile on her face not only remained—it widened, which made the other peak masters glare at her. Mu Feixu, in particular, was grinding her teeth, looking like she wanted to burn a hole through Zhou Huixin with her eyes.

"Sigh... those people from the other sects won't stop until we give them an answer," Lei Ping said, exhaling tiredly.

"Well, this is what happens when your sect has too many talented disciples. And not just talented—these two are so extraordinary, they could drive anyone mad with envy," Jiang Hong muttered, referring to Wang Ming and Bai Lingxi.

The others nodded in agreement, all of them feeling the same jealousy. Honestly, Jiang Hong had expected Wang Ming to be the only anomaly this year—but he hadn't seen Bai Lingxi coming.

Then he turned his eyes toward the screen, which was showing Bai Lingxi using her black ice to freeze the surroundings. The ground appeared to be covered by a cold, black blanket as Bai Lingxi slaughtered beasts one after another—it was clear she was hell-bent on climbing the rankings.

'Tsk, looks like Disciple Wang Ming's partner is very competitive,' Jiang Hong thought, clicking his tongue. In his mind, Bai Lingxi seemed to be competing directly with Wang Ming.
