Chapter 317: Ch-317: Peak Masters
'Holy—don't tell me this woman is a real Yandere?!' Wang Ming thought as a chill ran down his spine.
But he quickly calmed himself, his expression returning to normal.
"Hmm, good. If you understand," Wang Ming said, watching as Min Li slowly returned to her usual self.
---
While Wang Ming and the other disciples were exploring the artificial world, their actions were being closely monitored by various individuals in the real world.
At that moment, Jiang Hong, Lei Ping, and Zhou Huxin were seated alongside the other Peak Masters, all of whom had gathered in anticipation of the next round. Multiple floating screens hovered in the air, currently blank.
"Sect Master Jiang Hong, are there any talented disciples among the newly recruited ones from the non-Dual Cultivation department?" one of the Peak Masters asked, looking at Jiang Hong.
Since most Peak Masters rarely left their peaks—spending the majority of their time in seclusion to advance their cultivation—they were naturally curious about any exceptional newcomers.
"Why are you asking about this, Peak Master Qin Mu? It's not like you need any more disciples—your peak is already at the top," Jiang Hong said with an amused smile as he looked at the middle-aged man.
"Yes, yes, keep your mouth shut. Don't hog all the good disciples—leave some for us. So, Sect Master, are there any outstanding ones this time?" a woman interjected, causing Qin Mu's lips to twitch while the other Peak Masters sighed at her usual antics.
"Even if you do get good disciples, it won't change your second-to-last ranking, Peak Master Mu Feixu," Qin Mu remarked with a smirk which caused invisible arrows to pierce her heart.
"Huh, does it matter if that bi— I mean, Zhou Huxin ranks higher than me? It's highly unlikely she could surpass my peak even in a hundred years because she is weak and incompetent," Mu Feixu said without a hint of shame, causing everyone's eyebrows to twitch. The two had been childhood friends and rivals, with Zhou Huxin always ranking below her in everything.
"You know I'm right here," Zhou Huxin said, veins bulging on her forehead.
This woman was about to call me a bitch, wasn't she? Zhou Huxin thought as she glared at the beautiful woman.
"Did I say anything wrong?" Mu Feixu said with a smirk, waiting for a reaction.
"Hmph," someone coldly snorted, shocking everyone.
"Eh? Peak Master Zhou Huxin, are you sick?" Qin Mu asked in a strange voice.
"Yeah, are you okay?" Even Mu Feixu asked in a genuinely concerned tone.
"Why are you asking me this?" Zhou Huxin asked, her tone softening when she saw the genuine concern on Mu Feixu's face.
"No, every time I tease you, you get angry and bark like a dog," Mu Feixu said in a serious voice.
The other Peak Masters also looked concerned. Even though they were rivals, they still cared for one of their own. They knew about Zhou Huxin's short temper and were surprised when she didn't immediately explode.
'Damn, what kind of image do they have of me? Maybe I did react like that in the past, but I don't anymore…This is that master's fault, ' Zhou Huxin thought. Her bad temper in her early years had been due to Feng Chang constantly shoving her position onto her and leaving.
Her face turned red with anger at the thought. Just as she was about to erupt, everyone nodded their heads—this was the reaction they had been expecting. However, she quickly calmed down under Jiang Hong and Lei Ping's amused looks.
"You guys haven't seen her for a few years due to cultivating in seclusion, but she has indeed learned to control her temper," Jiang Hong said.
"Tsk, boring. I enjoyed it more when your face turned red with anger and you looked like a clown," Mu Feixu clicked her tongue.
"You..." Zhou Huxin gritted her teeth, clenching and unclenching her fist. But as she recalled how she had gotten the best disciple, her mood improved. She smugly looked at Mu Feixu, who was left confused.
Just as Mu Feixu was about to open her mouth, Qin Mu interrupted her.
"Sect Master, are there any noteworthy disciples? I heard the peak masters of the other sects called me yesterday, bragging about how talented their disciples were. Some of them had very high cultivation from the beginning and were directly promoted to Inner Court disciples, with cultivation levels similar to Core Disciples," Qin Mu asked in frustration.
"We do have one from non-Dual Cultivation, and she happens to be from the Min Family. She is at the 10th Stage of the Core Formation Realm," Jiang Hong said casually.
"What! The Min Family?!" exclaimed one of the Peak Masters.
"10th Stage of the Core Formation Realm? Heavens, she is stronger than most of the Elders and Core Disciples! As expected from someone from the Min Family," said another Peak Master, as all of them started making plans to recruit her.
"Min Li? Isn't that the name of the granddaughter of the Patriarch of the Min Family?" Qin Mu said, remembering the name. His eyes widened as he looked at the Sect Master for confirmation, to which he nodded.
'I didn't expect someone from the Min Family to join. I want to recruit her, but I think if I say this, they're going to tear me apart, 'Qin Mu thought, sweating as she looked at the obsessive eyes of the other Peak Masters.
"Damn, they're all going to compete to recruit Min Li," Mu Feixu's face turned ugly when she saw the excited looks on the other Peak Masters.
"You should give up trying to recruit her. It's useless. She won't join," Lei Ping said, looking at the covetous expressions on the Peak Masters' faces. They heard her voice and looked in her direction.
"Why do you say that?" Mu Feixu asked, frowning.
"Because she has already joined Jade Peak," Lei Ping said, causing everyone's eyes to widen as they snapped their heads to look at Zhou Huxin, who was looking at them smugly.
"WHAT! JADE PEAK?!" Mu Feixu stood up in shock.
