Chapter 11: Rageful Knight
Erica's jaws dropped. A reaction she shared with the rest of the villagers as Blaze stood before them. Saying he was different would have been an understatement. The skin on his hands was now covered with red and black scales that went up to the side of his face. His black hair shone with red highlights just like the crimson in his eyes that now looked almost monstrous with the slitted pupils.
"I appreciate you keeping them safe. I'll handle him from here." Blaze said to a still-dumbfounded Erica.
The girl quickly shook her head, snapping herself out of the trance before nodding several times without a word.
"Rhgaa!!" Kalius roared once more as he got up. Like before he brandished his sword with a growl before charging.
Blaze turned to the man and his feet exploded in flames. He then took one step forward and in the eyes of those watching it was as if he vanished and appeared infront of the man in an instant, leaving behind a trail of fire.
Kalius flinched as the boy appeared before him but he quickly pulled himself and swung his sword with all his might. Planting his left foot firmly onto the ground Blaze sent out his left arm and the blade of Kalius' beefy broadsword bounced off with great force. As Kalius stumbled back from the recoil, Blaze pulled his right leg back and collected his clawlike right arm into a scale-armored fist.
[Dragon Fire: Impact!]
Flames erupted around his arm burning with an intense voracity turning into a blue color almost immediately. With Kalius still unbalanced Blaze hurled the flaming blue fist straight onto the man's face sending him flying. Before he even reached the ground Blaze flame dashed and jumped up to him, with another flaming blue fist pulled back. This time it intersected with his stomach destroying his entire upper armor and sending him crashing onto the ground.
Using the force from his last attack as leverage he spun through the air and landed a bit after Kalius did.
"Rghaa!!" Kalius let out another scream, this one mixing rage with pain as the purple markings around his body spread further while he got on his feet.
As he did, the eyes of all the monsters glowed purple and they turned their attention towards Blaze. Within mere seconds, a horde of all kinds of monsters were racing toward Blaze, surrounding him in all directions.
The boy showed no signs of worry however as he raised his right foot which was also covered with scales.
[Dragon Fire: Tempest!]
In that instant, the monsters lunged, desperate to tear him apart. But before they could reach him, they were swept up into a spiraling tornado of flames that erupted around Blaze. The fire, initially a fierce red, quickly shifted to a dominant blue, towering high into the sky and bathing the entire village in its brilliant, otherworldly glow.
However, what truly sent a chill down his spine was the sight of the draconic boy emerging from the flames. With slitted crimson eyes that glared like a predator locking onto its prey, the boy’s clawed hands crackled as he clenched them into fists. As a low growl rumbled from his throat, Kalius could clearly see the sharp fangs now lining the boy’s mouth.
Kalius began to step back as Blaze steadily made his way towards him. It was then that the man decided to pull up the last of his courage. With his sword in hand, Kalius began to grit his teeth before rushing forward toward Blaze.
"Our Yverl was nothing but a peaceful village until you decided to rear your ugly face in our home," Blaze said, casually marching toward the charging man. But as his anger surged, his expression twisted with fury. "Burn!"
With a wave of his hand, Kalius exploded in a burst of flames causing the man to immediately drop to the ground, screaming and tossing in anguish. Blaze watched with anger still stirring in his eyes as all the other villagers watched in disbelief.
"Blaze! That's enough!" Chief Jacob called out from the barrier.
"Fellis, please stop already!" Erica called out to him as well.
Only after their voices penetrated his fury did Blaze manage to snap out of his rage, dispelling the flames and leaving a seared Kalius groaning on the ground. Blaze's eyes widened in shock as he realized what he had done, his hands trembling uncontrollably. He swallowed hard and looked up at the sky, where the black magic circle was now fading away. His breathing grew heavier, and the scales on his skin began to recede. Slowly, his vision blurred until he finally collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
