Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Combat Strength Upgrade Card! The Seventeenth of the Buddhist System!

Regarding Zhu Wuxiang's ability to absorb energy, No. 17 was reminded of Dr. Gero and the android No. 19 he once built. They both had energy-absorbing capabilities.

However, such abilities were only effective against beings who possessed qi—life energy. For an android like No. 17, who didn't emit any detectable qi, the technique was useless.

He wasn't producing any qi at all. If there's no energy to detect, what is there to absorb?

As he stood there calmly observing Zhu Wuxiang, No. 17 found himself thinking that the man was both unlucky and—ironically—quite lucky.

Lucky? Why?

Because, fortunately for Zhu, it was No. 17 who accepted the mission this time. If someone else had taken it—someone overflowing with qi—Zhu might've succeeded in absorbing their energy.

Unfortunately for Zhu, if he had tried to absorb even a fraction of the energy cultivated by warriors from other worlds, it would have overloaded his system completely.

After all, the qi cultivated by these interdimensional fighters far surpassed anything from Zhu's own world. Their internal strength wasn't even in the same league.

Even if Zhu Wuxiang's absorption technique worked, without a sufficiently powerful body to handle that overwhelming energy, it would have caused a catastrophic explosion.

So, in a twisted way, not absorbing anything and avoiding a body-shattering overload… was the best outcome Zhu could've hoped for.

Still, he had to die in the end.

"No offense, but I've seen enough of your abilities," No. 17 said indifferently. "Now, it's time for me to complete the mission my employer entrusted to me."

He raised one hand, extending a single finger, and pointed it at Zhu Wuxiang. A beam of energy blasted out, searing through Zhu's body, leaving a massive hole in his chest.

Zhu didn't even have time to activate any of his defensive martial techniques. Not that it would've mattered—they would've been completely useless against this kind of power.

"This… this can't be…" Zhu muttered, staring at the gaping wound in disbelief. His vision blurred as his consciousness faded.

His final thoughts were clear and simple: Strong. Unbelievably strong.

And then he collapsed, lifeless.

Cheng Zheng and the others who had been observing from a distance were stunned.

They had seen how Zhu's power absorption had failed to affect No. 17, and how effortlessly he had taken down their once-mighty leader. The gap in power was staggering.

Whether it was his calm resistance or the overwhelming one-shot finish, No. 17's strength was undeniable.

He turned to the three witnesses and said flatly, "Mission complete. Please remember to give me a five-star rating."

And just like that, he disappeared—vanishing from their view like a ghost.

To Cheng Zheng and the others, No. 17 had become something more than mortal—more like a god. After all, who else could end a battle and then vanish without a trace?

Ding! Congratulations to Thug No. 17 for completing the mission and earning 500,000 points!

Ding! Congratulations to Thug No. 17 for receiving a five-star rating and earning a lottery chance!

---

Goku: "Wow! Not bad, No. 17. You got a five-star rating!"

Krillin: "Hold on… why did No. 17 get 500,000 points for this mission? That's way more than what we usually get!"

Beerus: "Exactly. My last mission only gave me 300,000. Was this one harder or something?"

Jack: "@Beerus @Krillin, I've said this before—once thugs level up, the points you earn for completing missions increase too."

Beerus: "Ah, right. I must've overlooked that. You did mention it earlier, Lord Jack."

Krillin: "@No.17, since you got a five-star review, you get a lottery spin now. Let's see what you draw!"

Krillin: "There are better prizes now, and your chances of getting something valuable are much higher."

No. 17: "Alright then, I'll give it a shot."

---

Ding! Congratulations to No. 17 on successfully drawing a prize: Combat Strength Upgrade Card!

---

Piccolo: "Combat Strength Upgrade Card? That sounds pretty good."

Goku: "Hold on, Piccolo. These upgrade cards vary. The actual power boost depends on your luck."

Beerus: "Let me check… The max increase is double your current strength, but the minimum is only 10%."

Beerus: "So yeah, luck plays a big role in how useful this card really is."

Gabe: "Even a 10% increase in strength is great. Any improvement is a win."

Caulifla: "Man, I wish I had something like that! If I got one, I'd definitely double my power! No doubt about it!"

Champa: "Oh? Feeling confident, are you? Then let me take the next mission! Stop letting Universe 7 hog all the tasks!"

Caulifla: "It's not like I don't want to take on missions…"

Hit: "What I want to know is—how much did No. 17's strength improve?"

Krillin: "Yeah, tell us, No. 17. What's the result?"

No. 17: "Looks like my luck's average. I got a 50% power increase."

No. 17: "Still, 50% is 50%. That's a big jump. I'm not going to complain—can't be too greedy."

---

Goku: "That's awesome, No. 17. With that kind of increase, your power is probably way ahead of mine again!"

Vegeta: "Tch. It's just a card. He got lucky. That's not true training."

Whis: "But results are results, Prince Vegeta. A 50% increase is substantial."

Jack: "Everyone, remember—points, praise, and luck. Those are the three keys. Train hard, do your missions, and take your chances when the system rewards you."

---

The group chat buzzed with excitement and envy.

Everyone now wanted to complete missions, climb the rankings, and get their own chance at a lottery spin. If No. 17 could walk away with a 50% boost, why couldn't they?

But beneath the playful banter and competitiveness, everyone knew one thing:

This wasn't just a game anymore.

With each completed mission, each upgrade, and each new transformation, they were all becoming stronger.

And soon… they'd need that strength more than ever.
