Dragon Ball Roshi

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Paradox And Doom

It wasn't entirely impossible.

This eerie feeling of similarity and divergence from the original story… the Phoenix by his side was a perfect example.

In Taro's perception, the Phoenix's presence could still be felt soaring high in the sky behind him. In the original work, an animal by the same name had been Master Roshi's pet, which had died from food poisoning.

Now, Taro had a "Phoenix" of his own, despite never intending to.

This coincidence gave him a strange, surreal sensation.

Seeing the tribal leader's barely concealed curiosity, Taro countered with a question of his own: "I heard Yardratians possess various unique abilities. Don't you have something similar to Instant Transmission among them?"

The holy mage glanced over as well.

"Instant Transmission? Is that the name of your technique?"

Flying alongside them as they descended toward the cave, the tribal leader smacked his lips thoughtfully. Perhaps, to his people, encountering a mysterious and extraordinary ability was as enticing as a delicious meal. He shook his head repeatedly in response to Taro's question and said: "No, at least I've never heard of anyone in the tribe developing a similar technique…"

After a moment of thought, he added: "Hmm… perhaps someone in the tribe knew something like it before the disaster a hundred years ago. Some of the abilities I've mastered were taught to me by survivors of that calamity."

Taro thought back to how this leader had instantly detected him and the holy mage upon their arrival.

"Does that include the ability you used to locate me earlier? If I could learn that, it'd be quite useful…"

Before long—

Tap. Tap. Tap.

The three landed at the entrance of a cave halfway up the mountain.

In the end, Taro managed to obtain the tribal leader's approval to learn the powerful perception ability he possessed. After delving deeper into its mechanics, Taro decided to name it "Ki Sight."

The name perfectly encapsulated the essence of the ability. Once mastered, no matter how skilled the opponent was at concealing their energy, their efforts would be in vain. All forms of disguise or deception would be instantly exposed. This ability focused on perceiving the core energy of a being, bypassing any external "defenses" and directly revealing the internal energy signature of the target.

In essence, if characters from the original story had possessed this ability, all attempts at hiding one's power level or launching surprise attacks would have been rendered meaningless. Against this perceptive technique, every individual's power would be laid bare.

The only drawback was that, for now, there wasn't anyone on Yardrat worth using this ability against. Besides Taro himself, the strongest individual on the planet was the tribal leader, whose power level barely reached 400.

There was no need to rely on Ki Sight for that. With his martial expertise, Taro could discern the leader's capabilities at a glance.

Still, acquiring this ability had not come without cost.

Not that the Yardratians demanded an exchange before teaching him, but Taro felt it would be shameless to take without offering anything in return. Could he simply rely on words, moving his lips and expecting them to hand over their secrets? That would've been too brazen, even for him.

As for resorting to coercion? That was beneath him and entirely against his moral code.

So, Taro opted to share his experience with Instant Transmission as clearly as possible with the Yardratian tribal leader. Since this ability was granted to him directly by Shenron rather than learned through training, he could use it effortlessly. However, explaining it verbally proved to be quite a challenge.

After thoroughly grasping the essentials of Instant Transmission, the tribal leader, looking thoroughly satisfied, disappeared into one of the caves, presumably to study it further. He resembled an excited child who'd just received a new toy, eager to experiment with this unfamiliar power. Taro found the sight somewhat amusing.

One unexpected takeaway from this exchange, however, was a new revelation for Taro himself.

He suddenly recalled that his Nine Tomoe Rinnegan, awakened through the Senju's bloodline, inherently possessed certain space-time attributes!

In Naruto's storyline, only two individuals—Kaguya Otsutsuki and Sasuke Uchiha—had wielded such eyes. Both had also demonstrated space-time ninjutsu:

Kaguya could freely open portals to different dimensions.

Sasuke used his eyes to perform space-time teleportation techniques.

This realization sparked an idea. With his mastery of Instant Transmission and his unique eyes, could he not also develop some advanced spatial abilities? The thought intrigued him, but he knew it required careful deliberation. His arsenal of abilities was already vast and diverse; adding more might not be strictly necessary.

For instance, his Rinnegan theoretically allowed him to unlock abilities like Nagato's Six Paths techniques or Madara's Limbo clones. Yet, he had no interest in pursuing such paths or dedicating the energy required to develop them.

But spatial abilities...

As he contemplated the grand vision he had for Earth's future, he rubbed his chin, a thoughtful expression forming on his face. This, perhaps, was worth exploring.

A particular idea even brought a faint chuckle to his lips. It could lead to some very entertaining scenarios.

---

For now, Taro decided to stay a while longer on Yardrat.

Most of his current strength was drawn out by the holy mage's magic, which had temporarily awakened his latent potential. He needed time to refine this power, gradually reclaim full mastery over his abilities, and, ultimately, restore his Muken techniques to their former glory.

The Muken was a crucial element in Taro's grand plan.

At the same time, he was intent on learning more about the magical technique used by the holy mage to awaken potential. Although he and the holy mage had discussed for hours why Taro's body had not deteriorated as expected after the potential awakening (something the holy mage had predicted would happen as a side effect), no conclusive answers had been found. Still, the existing flaws in the technique were evident, and the two of them had been working to refine it, with Taro gradually mastering it over time.

On the other hand, Taro diligently practiced meditation every day, working to expand his mental limits and strengthen his spiritual power. His goal was to further enhance the abilities of his Nine Tomoe Rinnegan...

---

Time passed swiftly.

Eight years had passed since Taro began his focused training on Yardrat.

NAs for the progress of his training, that would have to wait.

Let's shift focus to a distant star in the Northern Galaxy.

Earth.

It had been nearly thirty years since Taro's departure.

The Earth had begun to take on the appearance of a modern city. The five major cities—North, South, East, West, and Central—were now filled with towering skyscrapers, and bustling highways were crowded with people and vehicles.

Above the busy, modern world, divine beings watched over the humans below. They observed the mortals' pursuit of fame, wealth, and all the trials of life—birth, aging, illness, and death.

But at this very moment, the Earth's deity—Kami—had no interest in the lives of the mortals!

Dressed in his white ceremonial robes and leaning on his staff, Kami stood at the edge of his temple, gazing down at the world below. His face, however, betrayed an increasing sense of unease.

"My ominous premonition has finally come true..." Kami expression darkened as he stared at the Earth. In his vision, he saw a strange distortion in the fabric of space-time above a certain sea.

Wuuuu...

A chill, evil aura seeped from the space-time rift. This presence was so cold, so malevolent, that any ordinary person who came into contact with even a fraction of it would likely fall into madness, becoming a corrupted, demonic being.

Two figures emerged from the swirling rift—one red and one black!

In an instant, a dense, suffocating aura radiated from these two figures.

"Such a vile and terrifying presence..." Kami's face grew pale as he locked his gaze on the two figures below. His brows furrowed deeply, his face a grimace as he muttered bitterly to himself. "Is Earth truly doomed?"
