Dragon Ball: Reborn as King Cold

Chapter 8: Chap8: First Fight

But first, let's go back a little.

[10 years earlier…]

It had been several months since the destruction of Planet Vegeta. During that time, I had continued conquering planets as a mere pastime, effortlessly crushing any opposition in my path. But despite all the victories, something began to bother me.

I could feel it, my progression had slowed. My power was immense, yet it felt... stagnant.

And then, the idea struck me.

The Demon Realm.

"Umhumhumh."

'Of course, I should have thought of this sooner.'

A wicked grin spread across my face as I immediately began gathering resources to locate an entrance.

The Demon Realm, an ancient dimension. If there was anywhere that could push me further, it was there. It took me a while but I found that damn fish.

Once I had what I needed, I didn't waste time. I forced my way in, breaking through.

And, of course, my arrival did not go unnoticed.

The moment I stepped foot into the Demon Realm, I was greeted by none other than its so-called "King", Dabra.

A tall, pink-skinned demon with piercing eyes and a cocky smirk, standing before me with his arms crossed.

"Who dares intrude upon my domain?" he demanded, his voice thick with arrogance.

I chuckled, tilting my head. "Oh? You must be the so-called Demon King. Let's see if you live up to the title."

Dabra wasted no time. The moment I stepped forward, he lunged at me with incredible speed, his clawed hand coated in dark energy as he aimed straight for my throat.

Our forearms clashed, the impact sending out a shockwave that shattered the ground beneath us. I grinned, this was the first time in years that I actually felt some resistance.

"Not bad" I muttered, my tail swiping at him like a whip.

Dabra dodged, flipping backward before firing a barrage of dark spears from his fingertips. Each one pulsing with demonic energy. I barely had to move, raising a single hand, I deflected them effortlessly, each blast dissipating against my palm like mere sparks.

But the moment I lowered my guard, he was already behind me.

His knee smashed into my back, sending me hurtling forward. I twisted in midair, stabilizing myself.

I touched the spot where he struck me, narrowing my eyes. He actually landed a solid hit.

"You're holding back." Dabra smirked, pointing a clawed finger at me. "I can feel it. You don't take me seriously."

I chuckled. "You're not wrong."

With a flick of my wrist, a thin Death Beam shot forward at blinding speed. Dabura barely had time to react—his eyes widened as he tilted his head at the last second, the beam slicing a clean cut through his cheek.

Blood dripped from the wound, sizzling as it hit the demonic ground.

Dabra wiped the blood away and licked it off his finger, his yellow eyes glowing. "Impressive."

I cracked my knuckles. "I was just getting started."

In an instant, I vanished.

Dabra barely had a moment to register before I was in front of him, my fist slamming into his stomach. His body bent inward from the sheer force, his eyes bulging before I sent him rocketing into the sky with a brutal uppercut.

He shot through multiple floating islands, each one exploding upon impact.

I followed, appearing above him as he tried to recover. Raising both my hands, I summoned a massive sphere of Ki, compressed.

"Let's see you block this!"

I hurled it downward.

Dabra roared, firing a concentrated blast of his own. Our attacks collided in a massive explosion that split the very sky apart, dark lightning crackling through the Demon Realm.

As the dust cleared, Dabra emerged, breathing heavily but still standing. He wiped more blood from his mouth and grinned.

"This... This is interesting."

I smirked, my aura flaring. "Then let's continue."

Dabra extended his hand, and from the void itself, a swirling mass of darkness twisted into existence, as the dark energy condensed into a shape, a long, jagged blade, pulsing with malevolent energy.

"This is the Darkness Sword" Dabra declared, his voice filled with eerie confidence.

I raised an eyebrow. "Cute trick."

"Let's see if you can handle it!"

Dabra vanished. In less than a second, he was in front of me, his sword coming down like a guillotine. I tilted my head slightly, the blade missing me by mere inches as it carved a deep rift into the ground. Before I could counter, he was already repositioning, moving with newfound speed and precision.

He's improved.

His attacks were sharper now, each slash of the Darkness Sword left behind lingering trails of pink Ki, distorting the air around us.

As he came at me again, I caught the blade with my bare hand.

"What?" Dabra's eyes widened.

The dark energy hissed against my palm, but I squeezed tighter, my fingers crushing into the metal-like material. "Nice weapon." With a smirk, I twisted my grip and snapped the sword in half like a brittle twig.

CRACK!

Dabra staggered back, looking at the broken remains of his so-called legendary blade.

"Impossible..." he muttered.

I didn't give him time to process his shock. In a flash, I was already behind him, my knee driving into his spine. The force cratered the ground below us, sending debris flying in all directions.

"GRAAH!" He spat blood, but I wasn't done.

Grabbing him by the ears, I swung him around like a ragdoll before hurling him straight into a floating rock. His body tore through it like a bullet, leaving a massive hole in its wake before crashing into another one behind it.

As the dust settled, I floated down, arms crossed. "You said something about me not being able to handle that?"

Dabra groaned as he pushed himself out of the rubble, panting heavily. His once-pristine armor was cracked, his face bruised, but his lips still curled into a grin.

"Hah... Yes... Now this is a fight."

I smirked, my aura flaring. "Then let's finish it."

I extended my hand, gathering my Ki into a single, concentrated point. In an instant, it solidified into a sharp, glowing blade, its edges humming with sheer energy.

Dabra wiped the blood from his mouth and smirked.

Our swords clashed, he continued even though his was broken, sending shockwaves rippling through the air. Sparks of Ki scattered in all directions, cutting through the landscape like miniature blades. Each strike of our weapons came with enough force to shatter mountains, and yet, we matched each other blow for blow.

Dabra lunged, his swings fueled by desperation, his movements wild but powerful. I parried each one effortlessly, my form precise, my steps calculated. He was strong, stronger than I had initially given him credit for, but it wasn't enough.

With a sudden twist of my wrist, I redirected his blade, leaving his guard wide open.

"Hmph. Too slow."

My Ki sword pierced straight through his shoulder and from there I cut him to the chest.

Dabra gasped, his eyes widening as my blade glowed within him. His hands trembled as he tried to grasp the energy cutting through his body, but it was pointless. His strength was fading.

I leaned in slightly, watching the light flicker in his yellow eyes.

"It was a good fight." I told him, my voice calm, almost... respectful.

Dabra let out a weak chuckle, blood trailing from his lips. "Heh... I suppose it was... for me."

Then, his body went limp. The fire in his gaze vanished, and the Demon King was no more.
