Dragon Ball Odd Future

Chapter 9: Chapter 9 Man vs Cat?!?

As the fight begins, Mo-Mochi adopts his father's boxing stance, making sure to stand firm while waiting for his opponent to initiate contact. The Cat pounces on Mo-Mochi, swinging and slashing his blade. Mo-Mochi easily dodges the blade, using his boxing footwork to sidestep and move out of the sword's range.

As the cat continued to swing at him, he started to realize that they don't seem to have much expertise using the blade; instead, they just flail it around in the hopes that a slash will connect. Mo-Mochi moves in quickly and lands a punch to the cat's face, taking advantage of the cat's inexperience after it comes in for another slash and the blade drops to the ground.

The cat drops his sword and recoils in pain, rubbing his The cat drops his sword and recoils in pain, rubbing his face. "Owwwww, that actually really hurt!" shouted the cat. He was actually surprised at this, though it'd been a while since he'd seen a human. Seeing one that could actually throw a strong punch was unexpected.

The cat reaches for his sword and throws it behind his back, where it belongs. The cat smiles and says to Mo-Mochi, "Alright, bud, you're not bad. You actually know some martial arts, but don't think I only know how to swing a sword." The feline put his sword away taking a fighting stance based on his posture and hand placement, a cross between a tiger and a leopard. As the cat's muscles tense, its tail sways back and forth, indicating its readiness to strike. Its piercing gaze locks onto Mo-Mochi, revealing a predator's instinct and a proper understanding of the art of combat.

Mo-Mochi can feel that his foe has begun to get serious. As the cat with intense speed lunges at him, he's unable to react on time. He moves to the right but not far enough, as he gets a claw scratch on his left cheek. As Mo-Mochi realizes his opponent has him beat in terms of speed, his face starts to bleed. He pauses and thinks to himself for a bit. "Okay, I have two ideas here: either attempt to find a means to beat that speed or think of a more pacifist approach to ending this battle." This cat guy is quite powerful, so let's just try the ladder. I hope this works.

Mo-Mochi, whipping the blood off his cheek, says to the beige-haired feline, "Hey, so you're upset that I took a piece of your fish? Fine, how about this? In exchange I'll give you..." Mo-Mochi looks through his backpack for a moment and says, "I'll give you this half of my peanut butter jelly sandwich deal?"

The cat gets out of his fighting stance and thinks, Hmmm, a sandwich does sound good. Hmmm, you know what sure, I like sandwiches. Give me. Mo-Mochi gives the cat half of his sandwich, and the cat scarfs it down in just one bite. Mo-Mochi looks kind of shocked at how fast it just happened. The cat licks its lips, satisfied with the sandwich, smiles, and says, "Okay, we can make a truce." Walking back over to the fish, he rubs his hands, excited to get to his next meal, only to find out the fish got overcooked and burned while the two were fighting.

The cat stares at his burnt fish with a frown on his face and then reassures himself and says, Welp, the skin might be burnt, but that's not going to stop me. Mo-Mochi, hearing this out of curiosity, asks, "You're not just going to eat that any more, right? It's all burnt, not really healthy, is it?" The cat smirks, replying, "Do you know how long it takes to cook something this big? I'm getting my full-course meal out of this." The cat prepares its claws to pounce on the burnt fish and says, "Let's dig in!"

The cat eagerly starts devouring the burnt fish. Biting, ripping, and tearing into its skin, the cat showed no sign of stopping. It ate the fish until it was nothing but bones. Mo-Mochi was shocked to see how fast and big of an eater this cat was. Watching the feline tear into such a fish was kind of terrifying. After seeing this, he's kind of glad he barged in with the cat earlier.

"If this is how he gets over food, I can see why he freaked out so much from me just taking a small bite." said Mo-Mochi. Not even a minute has passed, and there is nothing left of the fish but bones as the cat lays on the floor, stuffed and content with his big burnt meal. Mo-Mochi decides to talk with him while he's just lying there; maybe he could help him figure out where the nearest place is around here.

Mo-Mochi says to the cat, "Hey, um, I never really got your name, and if you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you? I mean, you look like a cat, but you're no normal cat. I've never seen many talking animals. My mom told me they were all over back in my hometown, but I don't really remember much about Bridgetown. What are you exactly?"

The cat gets up and sits on its buttocks and says, "Oh yeah, I guess we never really introduced ourselves to each other. My name is Chino, and I'm a Neko Majin. Nice to meet you." Mo-Mochi shakes the feline's hand back and asks, "A Neko Majin? I've never heard of a race like that."

Chino looks to Mo-Mochi and says, "Yeah, we don't really show ourselves on the surface of the earth anymore after the androids happened. I never really got to see them, but I've heard they were scary. We're basically cats who can use a bit of magic." Mo-Mochi, interested in learning more about the feline, asks, "Oh, what's your unique magic trick that you can do?"

Chino shakes his head in embarrassment and adds, "Well, I haven't really figured out what my magic trick is yet sorry. I don't have any control over it. It's something that sort of happens when we're strong enough, or we just figure it out. I don't really remember; I never paid attention when my friends talked about it. However, if you want to know a bit about me, I'm a magic cat that enjoy fighting."

Mo-Mochi tries to follow, but it is a bit confusing to him, so he just says, "Alright? Okay, I get it. I'll be sure to remember you if I see more Neko Majin's, but what are you doing out here by yourself?" Chino, licking his paws to get leftover fish crumbs, says, "Oh, I'm traveling to achieve my dream. I want to be known as the ultimate Neko Majin. So now I'm traveling to get stronger and be the best version of myself."

Mo-Mochi seems kind of impressed knowing the cat goals were so ambitious, telling him, "Huh, that's actually really cool. You've already got something you're striving for. I'm honestly just traveling to explore and see what the world is like now that we're in a time of peace. I never really thought of anything too serious in my mind."

Chino thinks for a moment. Gears turn in the fat cat brain; he had an idea. He looks back to Mo-Mochi and asks him, "Hey, I got an idea. You seem pretty cool and pretty tough too. How about you tagging along with me? We can both help each other. We can even train and get stronger too. What do you say?"

Mo-Mochi thinks for a moment; the cat didn't seem to be a mean guy; he just got upset because he took his meal. I mean, who wouldn't? The guy is pretty strong too. He's a bit of a goofy guy, but Mom and Dad said they wanted me to make some friends, so you know what? Why not? Mo-Mochi extends his hand and says, "You know what? Sure, Chino, you're an alright cat person. I mean, Neko Majin, sorry, its a bit of a mouthful."

Chino shakes his hand and says, "Awesome, now I'm going to need a moment. I'm going to take a quick catnap." Chino then lays down on the grass and lets out a big yawn before passing out and saying, "Oh, and if something like a dinosaur shows up, just wake me up, kay? Mo-Mochi, in response, says, Yeah, sure, I'll look out for Dino—wait, WHA!" Before he can ask more, Chino is fast asleep, which is pretty fast for a cat, not to mention he seemed like a heavy sleeper.

Mo-Mochi just looked a bit annoyed and said, "Great, now he's asleep; oh well, I should be fine. Let me just get some bandages for this cut he gave me." As Mo-Mochi touches his face, he notices something: the scratch mark that was made on his face is gone; there is nothing left of it—no bruise, no sore—it's like his skin has just completely healed itself. The boy was shocked at how well the injury healed. Mo-Mochi thinks to himself, "How did my wound just..." Mo-Mochi took his mind off it and just had something to eat while his new travel buddy was asleep. The other half of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich didn't sound pretty tasty right about now.
