Chapter 389: Chapter 389: The White Cat

The wind was cold.

The white cat clung to the weathered surface of Korin Tower, its thick fur offering little comfort against the chill.

But more than the cold, it was exhaustion that weighed heavily on its small frame.

For some reason, despite its usual boundless energy, climbing this legendary tower felt unbearably taxing—as if every step drained its very life force.

It couldn't remember how long it had been climbing.

Then again, as a cat, having a poor memory was perfectly normal.

Pausing to rest, the white cat licked its paws and squinted upward.

Somewhere far above, barely visible through the mist, lay the fabled dwelling of the gods…

---

Korin Tower – Inside

The reflection of the climbing cat rippled across the surface of a water vat.

Annin watched with a faint smile.

"After tens of thousands of years… someone finally makes the climb again."

Eager for some entertainment after so long, she cracked her knuckles—only for a familiar voice to drift down:

"Heh… Annin, how about letting me handle this one?"

The Supreme Elderly Lord rolled her eyes. Walking back into the main hall of Korin Tower, she saw Yamiru descend in a flutter of white robes, landing gracefully before her.

"Your presence… it's becoming harder and harder to sense," she remarked, studying him.

Just how far had he progressed? She couldn't even begin to guess.

Now, standing before anyone, Yamiru was like a wisp of wind, a beam of sunlight—he was the earth, the sky, the sun, as natural and unremarkable as the world itself.

Behind his animal mask, Yamiru smiled faintly.

Thirty Thousand Years

Thirty thousand years had passed.

Through relentless, water-drip perseverance—guided by the Spirit Bomb and fleeting glimpses of Ultra Instinct—he had refined his body with natural energy, forcing his Earthling cells to evolve.

It had started with a single God Cell born in his heart…

Then a second, a third…

Eight hundred years just to replace every cell in his heart, transforming it into a God Heart.

With every beat, it purified his ki into something closer to the primordial essence of nature.

If he wished, he could now draw trace amounts of Vitality from the environment, much like the Spirit Bomb.

'How ironic.'

In a world like Dragon Ball, he had somehow walked the path of a Ki Refiner.

(Ki refiner is a cultivation novel reference)

Now, after thirty millennia, over 95% of his cells had been refined into G-Cells.

The more of these cells he possessed…

The easier it became to re-enter the Realm of Gods.

By now, he was certain:

The first Saiyan was the first Super Saiyan God.

Saiyan cells were the cells of a Saiyan God—the original S-Cells.

Yamiru knew that once every cell in his body became a G-Cell, he would fully ascend to godhood.

And if he and Tights had children…

Generation after generation, a true God Race might emerge—beings with innate G-Cells that, when activated under the right conditions, could trigger transformations akin to the Super Saiyan.

Perhaps even a godly ritual of their own.

After untold hardships, he—an Earthling—had reached such heights.

Even Yamiru, steadfast as he was, couldn't help but feel a pang of emotion.

Back then, Fortuneteller Baba's prophecy had claimed his "chance to destroy Earth with a single punch" lay within Mount Five Elements.

How modest that seemed now.

Once he fully perfected his G-Cells and stepped completely into godhood, destroying Earth wouldn't even require a punch.

A thought would suffice.

Annin snatched the tiny girl from Yamiru's shoulder, ruffling her golden hair playfully as she yawned awake. "I thought you were still asleep in the Temple…"

"I was cultivating," Yamiru said.

Ever since Joey had resolved the lingering psychological toll of his long life, Yamiru no longer needed periodic hibernation to stave off the weight of time.

But his G-Cell refinement was so deep and meditative that it might as well have been slumber.

Decades—sometimes centuries—would pass without him moving an inch.

Without his Heavenly body, such prolonged stillness would have crippled him. His legs and spine would have atrophied long ago.

This realization only reinforced how impossible true godhood was for most.

Unless one was a prodigy—capable of instantly grasping Ultra Instinct and refining their body with divine efficiency—ascending required:

1. Insight

2. Opportunity

3. Time

Master Roshi had 1 and 3, but lacked the fortune to find the right path.

Krillin, Tien, and others had 2 and 3, but not the transcendent comprehension.

And above all, it demanded relentless dedication.

Yamiru, blessed with all three and millennia of perseverance, had finally reached this pinnacle.

With the Temple nearly complete, Mr. Popo had relocated there permanently.

Yamiru and Annin sat across from each other in Korin Tower, brewing tea with water from the central pool as they waited.

Joey, too impatient, had flown down earlier—likely to pester the exhausted white cat still climbing.

By midnight, under a sky of scattered stars and cold moonlight, a dusty, pudgy white cat finally tumbled through the tower's entrance.

"Huff… Huff…" It wheezed weakly, "Stop… bothering me…"

Its tail flicked, as if swatting at an invisible nuisance.

Upstairs, Joey—now seated in Yamiru's spot—gulped down a "giant" cup of tea and stuck her tongue out at Annin. "That cat's so grumpy!"

Meanwhile, downstairs, Yamiru crouched beside the collapsed feline, amusement threading his voice.

"Silly cat, silly cat… Why torment yourself so?"

The cat barely lifted its drooping eyelids, turning to see a masked man casually tossing a single bean in his palm.

'Is this the god?'

'What's he saying?'

Before it could ponder further, the masked figure pried its jaws open and popped the bean inside.

"Swallow," the man said gently—though the cat could've sworn it heard laughter in his tone.

'Does this god always smile?'

Gulp. The bean slid down its throat.

Thirty seconds later, the fully rejuvenated white cat stood in the upper chamber, listening to the immortal's teachings with reverent excitement.

Clearly, that bean had been a Senzu.
