Chapter 77: CHAPTER 77
c77: Frieza Comes,
"That was too close!"
Watching Li Xu deflect the massive energy ball, Son Goku exhaled in relief. Had Li Xu been even a second late, Planet Namek might have been destroyed.
"Frieza's almost here. Let's head over," Li Xu said calmly. Knowing Goku's temperament, he didn't bother trying to change his instinctual drive for battle.
"Yeah," Goku nodded, a fiery battle aura erupting around him. He was already excited, eager for the next challenge.
Elsewhere on the plains of Namek, a massive spherical spaceship touched down. Its mechanical legs extended outward like a spider, firmly anchoring it to the terrain. An opening beneath the ship hissed open, and a flood of Frieza Force soldiers burst forth into the sky.
The spectacle was overwhelming, like a swarm of hornets pouring from a hive.
From the top hatch of the ship, Frieza emerged seated in his hover pod, his small stature and cool composure radiating lethal dominance. He was still in his first form, but his energy was vastly greater than in the original timeline.
"There's so many of them," Krillin said, feeling a cold sweat down his back.
"That's Frieza, alright... but the one standing beside him feels dangerous too," Tien Shinhan observed, brows furrowed with tension.
"I wanna fight him!" Goku clenched his fists, barely containing his excitement.
Meanwhile, Li Xu was assessing the situation with growing concern. Though Frieza had not yet transformed, his base power level had skyrocketed to 250 million, already exceeding the power Frieza once wielded in his fourth form during the original Namek arc.
"If he's managed to unlock Golden Frieza like in the Resurrection 'F' arc, we'll have no choice but to retreat..." Li Xu thought, unsettled. In the manga, Frieza gained that form after only four months of training, rivaling Super Saiyan Blue Goku.
But then he reassured himself: "Even Frieza can't be that overpowered this early."
This battle took place years before Resurrection 'F', and Frieza's Golden Form was a product of intense, focused training. The timing didn't match up. Just like Goku skyrocketed from 90,000 to 3 million in days on Namek, those were rare conditions not something reproducible at will.
"Oh? You're still alive?" Frieza sneered as he laid eyes on Li Xu. A flicker of rage flashed in his crimson eyes he hadn't forgotten the last time they met.
"Frieza. I see blowing up your last planet wasn't enough," Li Xu replied coolly. Despite the power gap, he felt a surge of anticipation in the face of such a formidable adversary.
"You damn pest," Frieza snarled. His expression tightened as he recalled the humiliation he suffered before. He had to hold back the rage seething beneath his calm exterior.
"My father... he was killed by you, wasn't he?" Frieza said with an eerie smile, eyes fixed on Goku. "So you're the so-called Super Saiyan?"
"Come on down and play, Frieza!" Goku shouted, flaring into his Super Saiyan form with a burst of golden light. His aura danced like fire.
"Hmph. So you're the golden monkey. Not very impressive," Frieza replied mockingly, though his eyes narrowed slightly.
"King Frieza, allow me to test his strength," said the man at his side Tagoma, his armor gleaming, posture stiff.
"Go ahead," Frieza chuckled. He was curious how Goku would fare against his newest warrior.
"Finally, I get to prove myself!" Tagoma grinned as he rose into the air, facing Goku directly.
"You're strong. I can tell," Goku said. "Beat you first, then I'll move on to Frieza."
"As King Frieza's training partner for the past month, I've learned what true terror is," Tagoma said darkly. "He showed me that ruthlessness and fear can shape even the strongest into perfect weapons."
He trembled slightly not from fear, but from remembering that brutal month of training under Frieza's hand. His power had risen sharply, the same way it had in the Resurrection 'F' saga.
Li Xu, however, caught something important.
"Only a month?" he thought. If Frieza had only trained for a month, there was no way he had achieved his golden transformation yet. The tension in his chest eased slightly.
"King Frieza, should we order the troops to attack?" asked Sobel, a tactical officer in Frieza's elite unit.
"Yes. Let's make this a bit more entertaining," Frieza replied with a cold smile. "Let the war begin."
"Attack! Don't let a single one escape!" Sobel barked the order, prompting the entire Frieza Force to launch into the air like a black cloud descending on its prey.
"Xiaoyi, Bra, stay sharp. I might not be able to cover you later," Li Xu warned. Against the current Frieza whose power had skyrocketed he couldn't afford to divide his attention.
"Don't worry, Dad! I'm awesome!" Bra grinned confidently, full of Saiyan pride.
"Let's go, big bro!" Bra said to Li Yi, shooting into the sky. Though the Frieza Force had vast numbers, few among them held elite-tier power levels.
Boom!
Bra zipped beside a horned alien soldier and landed a roundhouse kick to his gut, launching him backward into several others, toppling them like bowling pins.
"Kamehameha!"
Li Yi cupped his hands at his waist, building up ki in classic Turtle School fashion. With a fierce shout, he thrust his palms forward, unleashing a dense, blue energy wave like a crashing comet.
Boom!
Dozens of Frieza's soldiers were obliterated, their scouters shattering under the force of the blast.
"Let's go, Gohan!" Piccolo growled, soaring into battle.
Despite some differences from the original timeline, Gohan and Piccolo still shared a strong bond, fighting together with seamless cooperation.
"Special Beam Cannon!"
Piccolo's index and middle fingers charged a spiral beam of golden energy, piercing through several enemies in a single blast. Their screams were cut short as the wave shot clean through.
"Masenko!"
Gohan shouted as he fired a large yellow energy wave, his eyes sharp and full of resolve. It tore through several soldiers, his hybrid Saiyan potential clearly showing.
"Destructo Disc!"
"Tri-Beam!"
Krillin and Tien Shinhan joined the fray. While outclassed by the current top-tier fighters, their years of experience and refined techniques made them more than capable of taking on the common soldiers.
"You fools! Use formation attacks! Coordinate or die!" Sobel screamed in frustration as his army was shredded.
Boom!
Before he could say another word, Frieza flicked a finger, sending Sobel hurtling through the air like a ragdoll.
"Too noisy," Frieza muttered coldly.
Li Xu stood still amidst the chaos, arms crossed. "This battlefield is impressive," he murmured, watching the flurry of energy beams and explosions. But he had eyes only for Frieza the others were beneath his notice.
"Do you think Li Yi and Bra will be okay?" Bulma asked, her voice tinged with maternal worry as she watched from afar.
"They'll be fine," Li Xu reassured her gently. "They're not ordinary children anymore."
Bang!
In mid-air, Son Goku hammered Tagoma with a spinning back kick, sending him crashing into the ground with a thunderous impact, creating a massive crater.
But before the dust settled, Tagoma rose once again, grinning as he flew upward with renewed energy.
"During my training under Lord Frieza, I endured a month of unrelenting torment. I've become stronger than steel your attacks won't faze me!" he shouted confidently, aura flaring.
Tagoma's durability was legitimate he had survived Frieza's brutal training, much like in the "Resurrection 'F'" arc, and emerged as one of the elite.
