Dragon Ball: A Better Bulma

Chapter 3: 3: Wait, Photosynthesis!?

"Physical test diary on Bulma Letter, my daughter. How should I approach this first entry? I just don't know how to react to the results I got.

From the tests I ran on her, I knew she had an enhanced metabolism, as well as much slower aging than a normal human, and since she was a baby, her physical condition was as good as a young adult, but she showed no deterioration or premature aging.

Other tests indicated the presence of abilities not available to a normal human. Not only is she able to digest food very efficiently, but her body distributes nutrients in a very optimized way.

She leaves almost nothing behind, so the usual "waste" of a human is rare, all because her body assimilates almost everything she eats, as long as it is organic.

I tried giving her mushrooms, which cause mild irritation when eaten, but she showed no change she found them "rich" and now constantly asks me for more of that type of food.

Watching your two-year-old daughter eat things that would cause a normal person severe physical discomfort without showing any change opens your mind to new possibilities. Also, her intelligence is another fascinating detail.

Bulma not only walked and ran before she was a year old, but she started saying her first words at only two months old. At two years old, she already had more than enough language, so I taught her to read.

She absorbs knowledge very quickly, so she cooperated very well with me in these physical tests. She has a physical condition superior to that of a child of her age, everything related to her body could be considered 'superior'.

But to my surprise, when we went to the beach one day and were constantly exposed to the sun, Bulma did not claim to be hungry and even refused to eat because she had no appetite.

My daughter photosynthesizes" Brief stopped typing on his computer, the cigarette he was smoking was long gone, and his black cat rested on his shoulder as usual.

The man was truly fascinated by his daughter's abilities, and it filled him with a sense of pride. After all, he was a father who wanted the best for his offspring, and he had succeeded.

"Dad, what is photosynthesis?" Bulma, who had been playing with some building blocks in her father's lab, approached him and read the word on the screen.

'What do you mean, I'm doing photosynthesis!!!? Vash didn't do that, and I'm not a Namek...' Bulma thought, curious about the 'new' knowledge or concepts unknown to a girl who had barely learned to read.

Well, maybe because of her superior intelligence, she liked to learn new things. That's why she was in her father's laboratory, sometimes she could see interesting things or how the man worked.

She was like a sponge, absorbing everything she could, even if she couldn't use it at the time because of her young age, she got used to the electronic equipment and machines available in the lab.

"Oh, it's a natural process by which plants get their food from the energy of the sun and water," Brief explained very simply and succinctly, but the explanation was enough to give her daughter an idea.

"But I don't want to eat sun! I want to eat red mushrooms like in the video game!" cried little Bulma, making her father smile.

"Okay, but remember, you're not going to grow up out of nowhere just by eating mushrooms," the man replied, knowing his daughter's childish 'thoughts'.

"Okay! Are you going to teach me something new?" the girl asked, making the man hesitate for a moment before he thought of something.

"Well, I'll show you how to make a laser pointer, it's good for playing with cats," the man agreed, before explaining to his daughter how to make a simple toy.

It was this toy that would make our young Bulma see a bigger world - weapons were rare in Dragon Ball! Or rather, the situation between the flesh body, Ki defense, and weapons in this world had a strange relationship.

Still, she was interested in technology in this world where individual power could reach highly destructive capabilities, why? Simple, no matter how good your Ki is and how much you can destroy, technology can perform many functions that simple Ki cannot.

Not everyone has healing abilities like Dende or Kaio-Shin, but even Freezer had to rely on a healing chamber to survive after being severely injured or resurrected.

Technology can travel the stars, technology can even "measure" another's strength, and while the latter can be done with proper Ki training, not every species in the galaxy has the talent or teaching materials to accomplish such a feat.

Also, let's not forget that A-16, C-17, and C-18 were created or enhanced with human technology, indicating the great potential of human technology. Let's not forget the genetic splicing of cells, which would not have been born without science and technology.

We can also say that it was technology that allowed C-17 to be so strong and talented, ultimately making Universe 7 the victor in the Tournament of Power held under the auspices of two Omni-Kings.

As night fell, Bulma played with a small black laser pointer that emitted a beam of green light, which she used to play with the black cat that always adorned her father.

"You can't catch it! You can't catch it!" Bulma joked, reveling in the innocence of childhood.

Many protagonists would live under pressure, wanting to become strong as soon as they were reborn and trying to achieve godhood, but she took it easy. Even with all her parameters beyond what a normal child possesses, she was still a little girl.

Sure, she would learn a lot and then train her physique, but she couldn't waste the energy capacity she surely possessed. Although Vash did not destroy any of the moons in the series like Roshi or Piccolo, you must remember that only he and his brother were capable of such attacks.

They also had to deform one of their arms to achieve such a feat, something she obviously could not do at the moment, but it was more than obvious that she would have much more talent for Ki than a normal human.

She was beginning to explore this area on her own, and it was not for nothing that Videl was able to do it easily under Gohan's guidance. Bulma was much more talented than Videl, which is why her left hand had a strange glow while she was fiddling with the cat.

Something that is not mentioned is that Ki has color, maybe it is something the show does to differentiate the characters and make it more spectacular, but Bulma's Ki was a deep purple.

The palm of her hand glowed with a purple light that just emitted a glow, no lightning, explosions, or heat, just a glow. But that was already a lot since she was only a child.

"Wait, my Ki is purple and I photosynthesize, sunlight has 'ultraviolet' light... ah, subtle," Bulma said quietly, amusing herself with her nonsense.

She didn't know the flying technique, not that it was easy to shoot a ki beam, she needed more control for that. In that sense, she envied Pan. Not only could the girl fly as a baby, but she had so many experts in energy control at her side to guide her.

What kind of experts were there at that time? The perverse Master Roshi, the vain Master Tsuru, and his brother Tao Pai Pai, who was a murderer. There was also Gohan! But Grandfather Gohan, a student of Roshi and possibly knowledgeable about Ki.

Why didn't the old man teach Goku as a child? Perhaps by treating him as a normal human, he wanted to wait until the boy was of an appropriate age before training him until he was tragically crushed and possibly eaten by his grandson in Ozaru, or Giant Ape form.

'Should I help the old man raise Goku? It would be better to have a more reasonable Goku, even if his innocence can never be taken away, he was born with it,' Bulma thought, remembering a few things.

From what she knew of Dragon Ball Minus, Goku is a gentle Saiyan like his mother, but with the fighting tendency of his father, basically the best of both sides.

She believed that his constant blows to the head did not change his personality much, just erased his memories of his early childhood, which was very sad in a way, and maybe his 'wild' attitude before the blow was because he knew he was alone, not seeing his mother or father for a long time.

So one could understand why his temperament "changed", no, he simply forgot the reasons that made him an unruly child. Also, Saiyan children spend time in an incubator, which could accelerate their physical and cognitive development, which would explain their memories.

But Bulma was born in 733 and Goku in 737, with the story now in 735, it would be three years before Goku would travel to Earth after the inevitable destruction of his home planet.

'And I'll see Jaco' Bulma finally remembered this strange character who "came out of nowhere" in Dragon Ball, although chronologically she would meet him when she was five years old and even help him repair his ship together with her father.

Bulma turned off the laser pointer and looked at her hand, the violet energy was behaving erratically, but when she focused her attention on it, it gradually turned into a sphere the size of a tennis ball.

"This doesn't have any power, but it looks pretty," the girl said.

The glow in her hand attracted the curious black cat, who jumped at the girl's hand, distracting Bulma and causing her Ki to turn into motes of light. The animal's claws tried to catch the little lights, but they simply vanished into thin air.

"Ok! You're going to help me train," Bulma gave a small clap and approached the cat, gently grabbing it by the belly.

Though the animal tried to free itself, it didn't scratch Bulma, it just used its paws to try to pull away from the little girl's fierce grip, but she had the strength of an adult at only two years old, how could it break free?

The black cat could only resign himself, his eyes fixed on Bulma's excited face. He was just waiting for an opportunity to escape, but he didn't know that the girl already had a plan.

Bulma wanted to train not only her Ki control, but also her multitasking ability and her resistance to interference, so she used the laser pointer she made with her father to annoy the black cat, thus fulfilling her two purposes at once.

Ki is referred to as the life force in all living creatures, and Bulma's constant use of this energy only made her physical condition grow, but so did her mental aspect.

Though simple and not very 'malleable' unlike other types of energy in the Omniverse, Ki was an energy that integrated physical, mental, and spiritual aspects all at once, it was quite balanced, though it usually emphasizes its more destructive aspect.

It might not be able to do a thousand miracles like Chakra or Nen, but Ki made Bulma grow much better than her other counterparts, and adding her natural advantages, she was destined to be one of the best Bulma variants out there.
