Dragon Ball: A Better Bulma

Chapter 27: 27: About the Wish.

"Bulma, why did you make that strange wish?" Goku asked curiously as Bulma drove the car.

"That was a pretty specific wish, are these people important, who are Lapis and Lazuli?" asked Oolong, who was sitting in the third row of this vehicle.

"I'd like to know too," Kami-Sama's voice echoed in Bulma's mind, causing her to almost crash into a rock on the side of the road, but she came to her senses.

"Damn it, Kami-Sama! Wouldn't it be better to come down here and chat like a normal person?" Bulma complained loudly as she looked up at the sky, but Kami's answer didn't take long.

"I don't have a decent excuse to come down," Kami told her, this time to everyone in the car.

"Wait, did we hear Kami-Sama's voice?" Oolong asked anxiously before he clasped its hands, closed its eyes, and began to pray.

"Bulma's family knows God," Chi-Chi said simply, but that only made Oolong shiver, before he continued its prayer, if you came closer, you could hear a bit of its mumbling.

"Well... do you remember Professor Omori? He is a person with many interesting inventions, and one of them was able to freeze the time of the entire universe for a moment.

So I became very interested in his research, and for the price of some of my family's exclusive products, I was able to gain access to it.

I didn't create a time machine, I doubt a mortal could do something like that as it's portrayed in popular culture... but I created this," Bulma used one hand to press the activator button of a capsule, and soon a tablet appeared in her hand.

She passed it to Goku, who activated it skillfully. But instead of the typical interface of conventional tablets, the screen of this one showed something strange. Three lines intersected at spherical points, but generally moved at their own pace.

"A temporal anomaly detector detects key nodes in the timeline we live in. Imagine my surprise when I learned that there were two other lines besides ours," Bulma's words may have been a bit complicated, but the implications chilled the blood of those present.

"These are the ones I leaked that are closer to us. They are not universes like the Sixth Universe, the twin of ours, or other realities, they are the timelines that at some point in the past, or perhaps for us the future, had intimate contact with our timeline.

Do you know what that means? Someone in the past, or perhaps in the future, traveled to our timeline, thinking they were traveling in time, but what they did was jump into our timeline. What kind of reaction will that cause? I don't know, but there had to be a reason for such proximity.

So... I investigated with my father and got something that made our blood run cold," Bulma tapped on the touch screen of her car's dashboard, which displayed a video.

A person appeared to be holding a recording device to their chest as they ran quickly down the alleys. Explosions could be heard in the distance as breathing became increasingly agitated.

"This is Delta Task Force member here...we missed. The bullets bounced off the skin of those things. How do you fight something like that...? The explosives didn't work, and those creatures seemed to be mocking us by letting us attack them.

Now... I have defected, this recording may make it to headquarters, but I doubt there will be anyone left to care about it soon. So I removed the signal privatizer from this device and broadcast its signal to anyone who could pick it up.

"Run away! Don't confront those, even if they look human... THEY AREN'T HUMANS! We ignored the warnings, we ignored our research. We thought they would be like the androids we destroyed in the past, thinking they were just remnants of the Red Ribbon Army.

It was to no avail. Even someone who knew the identities of those people before they became those things tried to ration them, but they? They have nothing but destruction in their eyes!

They're not Lieutenants Lapis and Lazuli of the Red Ribbon, known for their kindness! They're weapons, chaotic weapons created by Doctor Gero! Not even those blonde warriors could stand up to them... we are..." Here, the video abruptly cuts off, focusing on the delicate palm of a young girl's hand.

Before it cut off, the person was able to record as two young men descended from the sky and the woman between them lunged at them, destroying the camera. The audio, however, remained, and the person's screams of pain were recorded before they became static.

"There are many such videos and audio. It comes from TV channels or radio stations. Two environments were destroyed, one by those androids, the other... I don't know how to describe it, but it looks like Earth was invaded by someone in the past in this timeline and humans are now dealing with the consequences," Bulma's words fell and the silence was not broken for several minutes before Kami-Sama's voice returned.

"Is that why this wish? But what about this so-called invasion, why not wish for something against it?" Although Kami-Sama's tone sounded normal, anyone with a little EQ could pick up the fear in his questions.

"You know that the Dragon Balls cannot act against things that are stronger than you, Kami-Sama. Whatever invaded Earth in this timeline, some things weren't there. Maybe I didn't exist, maybe Goku didn't fall to Earth, or worse... Goku was the invader.

The time travel I discovered doesn't mean that humans did it. From the rumors I've seen on the Galactic Patrol forums, time travel is a crime punishable by all universes, and it's even known that in a universe different from the rest, there was chaos because of time travel.

Perhaps some entity traveled to this timeline somewhere in the universe or from other universes and allowed these signals to reach our point and be picked up by me. Why were those signals picked up?

I don't know, my dad and I racked our brains to come up with the theory that they were echoes. Temporal echoes from a timeline close and similar to our own. Maybe Lapis and Lazuli won't become androids, I'd like to avoid that.

But I don't know where Doctor Gero is, even if you go to the places where he might be, like the mountains or hidden places... he hasn't shown up. If it weren't for his publications every few months on robotics and genetics, I'd think he didn't exist in our timeline.

I've done some research on these two people, you know, that's why I made this wish because they're just young people going to University now, but they seem to have some hidden connection to RR, and I haven't gotten too close to avoid trouble.

I may be strong, but someone could take advantage of my absence to hurt my parents, there are so many ways to hurt someone with technology that it would take too long to count them.

Still, the brother seems to be someone who loves animals, and the sister seems to want to be an archaeologist, though I think it's more to get valuable relics than to appreciate the past," Bulma showed the information she had gathered about Lapis and Lazuli, but Goku looked at Bulma questioningly.

"Can there be a timeline where I decided to conquer Earth?" Goku asked, causing Bulma to look at him for a few seconds before nodding.

"Yeah, maybe you didn't fall next to Gohan's house at that time and do what every Baby Saiyan sent to a 'low level' world usually does, you destroyed Earth and sold it to the highest bidder," Bulma's answer made Goku very uncomfortable, who frowned as he crossed his arms.

"And you, Bulma, what could you be in these timelines?" To make Goku feel better, Chi-Chi decided to ask Bulma this question.

"In some timeline, I might have been encouraged to travel the world in search of Dragon Balls, but with a different wish. Maybe wishing for a boyfriend, wishing for a breast enlargement.

Or maybe I wanted to live quietly at home, not even knowing the legend of the Dragon Balls. In a timeline, it could even be me who created those creatures in the video. Or it could be the man... who knows," Bulma said, hiding the fact that she, following the idea of time echoes, had created a device similar to Space TV.

A device that collected every possible signal hidden in the fluctuations of space-time. It allowed Bulma to peek into other timelines. Many of them went wrong, others are normal in their transmissions.

Others... are strange. Bulma almost thought she had arrived in some crazy multiverse like Marvel or Rick and Morty until she remembered that this multiverse is small and closed, the only thing different will always be the timelines.

He saw the news that she was the queen of the world because for some reason she was a literal blue bitch descendant of the current king of the world... yeah. In another, more normal, but also weird timeline, she was a clothing model of her design.

And the one that intrigued her the most, in one timeline, was a famous movie actor who had a stereotypical rather dumb blonde model as his wife, and her version was also rather dumb.

Still, Bulma felt a strange sensation in her stomach. She knew that Dragon Ball was a moving universe, there would always be a reason to fight, there would always be a reason for someone to stand up and do something, and there would always be others against them.

What would her 'Android Saga' be like? Just to call it something, because except for a few things that can't be affected by it, everything that has to do with Earth will be different.

No, even at its birth, this universe was different. It seemed more... mythological, so to speak. Gohan was practically a classic cultivator of Chinese novels, only without all the exaggerated, confusing, and ancient paraphernalia.

"I'll keep an eye on these youngsters. But now that you mention it... there have been people I can't see at all, like that Doctor Gero guy. Could it be a technology to avoid unwanted glances? And somehow it even affected me," Kami-Sama said to everyone, making Bulma smile a little because she also had that kind of technology in her house.

While Bulma was deciding the course of their new journey, a visit to a certain island where a certain real android with strange and absurd abilities probably lived, something happened to both Lapis and Lazuli.

The twins were on their way home when Shen Long's wish was granted. One thing to keep in mind when making a wish is the wording of the wish, you know? Sometimes, strange things can happen.

Like now, the two brothers suddenly realized that their minds seemed to be more agile, it didn't make them smarter, but it allowed them to sort out the mental chaos common to all humans.

They could even avoid thinking about a pink elephant on a unicycle when they wanted to stop thinking about that elephant, so goodbye to intrusive or repetitive thoughts. Why did this happen? They don't know, but they each began to make the most of it in appropriate ways.

Especially when Lapis, for some strange reason, decided to listen to a wanderer and buy him a strange book that was supposed to make him stronger. Driven by curiosity, both brothers found their way.

One that will keep them from becoming weapons of mass destruction in the future, probably against their will.

"Sometimes it feels good to do this kind of work as an excuse to protect the world," said a person in dirty, threadbare clothes, using the money he earned from a careless young man to buy himself a nice lunch.

"But I never expected these kids to be so talented, I just wanted to give them something basic and pass on exclusive knowledge from me, I just hope this world has a better development than those timelines Bulma saw," soon the tramp's body squirmed and then started to blink.

"What? What am I doing here? Hmm... Chicken? Oh, thank you, Kami-Sama!" Strangely, the man began to enjoy his meal, not knowing how on earth he had found himself in a restaurant with so much comfort at his disposal.

"You're welcome," Kami-Sama muttered, no longer possessing the bum.

"Should I talk to King Kai about the threats from outer space?", Kami-Sama wondered quietly before making this decision.

"I will visit the other world."

OMAKE:

"Come on, 2B, let's go find the Dragon Balls!" a muscular Oolong called with a gesture to its adored waifu, 2B, who approached it dressed in maid's clothes.

"Yes, Master Oolong," 2B said with a bow, before being spanked by Oolong.

"If you can't get a wife or become one for more than 5 minutes, create one with advanced robotics. The best wish I ever had in my life was to find Doctor Gero, why didn't Bulma wish for that?" said Oolong, flexing its muscles unnecessarily.

"Waifu first, then world domination," Oolong muttered before ripping the shirt it was wearing, but 2B offered it another one.
