Chapter 30: Chapter 30: "Yu Xiaogang, I Am the Headmaster!"
Bang!
Yu Xiaogang slammed his hand on the table, roaring with fury.
"As classmates, how could he go so far as to injure Xiao San so grievously?!"
"If Xiao San wanted to kill him, it's clearly because he had a problem! Otherwise, why would Xiao San want to kill him specifically and not anyone else?"
"I know Xiao San's strength better than anyone. Among his peers, there's absolutely no way anyone could be his match! That person must have used underhanded tricks!"
"With Xiao San so severely injured, why didn't you stop it sooner, Flender?!"
Yu Xiaogang was practically hysterical, his shouts ringing through the room.
He knew exactly how strong Tang San was.
Among soul masters of the same age, there was no one who could possibly defeat Tang San—he was a control-type genius with unparalleled abilities in his class.
How could he lose?
Tang San was Yu Xiaogang's disciple, his hope for redemption, his pride…
Flender: "…"
Flender was utterly dumbfounded.
Wait, what?
Your disciple tried to kill Dai Mubai, and now that's somehow Dai Mubai's fault?
Tang San lost, so it must have been because of "underhanded tricks"?
Yu Xiaogang, do you even hear yourself?!
Flender's mind was spinning.
He wasn't exactly a good person, but compared to Yu Xiaogang right now, he felt like a saint walking the earth.
"Tang San lost because he wasn't strong enough."
"That's impossible—absolutely impossible! The opponent must have used foul play!"
Hearing this, Flender's face darkened.
Foul play?
Let's not forget that in the Spirit Arena, Tang San himself had used hidden weapons—needles, throwing knives, spikes… Was any of that "fair" or "proper"?
Tang San never hesitated to use whatever means were necessary to win.
How could he of all people have the audacity to call out someone else for unfair tactics?
Of course, Tang San was still unconscious at the moment, but since Yu Xiaogang was already throwing accusations, Flender could only assume Tang San would have thought the same way.
Letting these two come to Shrek Academy—was that really a good idea?
Especially Yu Xiaogang.
He had only just arrived, yet here he was already dictating terms and challenging the authority of the headmaster.
What next? Would he and Tang San seize control of Shrek Academy altogether?
Flender couldn't even be bothered to argue anymore. He had known Yu Xiaogang for years, but it seemed the man had changed.
Or perhaps this was his true nature all along.
After a long silence, Yu Xiaogang became even more convinced that he was right.
Tang San must have been ambushed or tricked. He slammed his hand on the table again and shouted,
"Flender, say something!"
Flender shrugged helplessly and replied,
"What exactly do you want me to say?"
No matter what he said, Yu Xiaogang wouldn't listen, so what was the point?
"Expel the person who injured Xiao San. Strip them of their martial soul and soul power, and kick them out of Shrek Academy!"
Yu Xiaogang said this as if it were the most natural and reasonable thing in the world.
Anyone who dared harm his disciple deserved this punishment.
To him, simply crippling the person's soul power and martial soul was already a show of mercy.
Flender: "…"
I swear, I need to crack open your skull and see what's inside.
How could Yu Xiaogang even say something so shameless with a straight face?
"Absolutely not! Yu Xiaogang, you better forget that idea right now!"
Flender's expression turned cold as he warned Yu Xiaogang.
Leaving aside Dai Mubai's identity, his talent alone was unparalleled.
Dai Mubai was the most outstanding and gifted student Shrek Academy had ever had.
Not only that—he had also avenged Zhao Wuji!
Dai Mubai had done what Flender had wanted to do but didn't dare.
And Yu Xiaogang dared to suggest crippling and expelling him?
Did Flender look like an idiot?
Hearing Flender's refusal, Yu Xiaogang froze in disbelief.
"When did you ever speak to me like this, Flender?"
"You'll regret this!"
Yu Xiaogang gritted his teeth and spat out the words before turning to leave.
"Yu Xiaogang, I am the headmaster here!"
The Next Morning
At dawn, the air was still crisp.
Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing had already returned to Shrek Academy from Soto City.
Due to her intensive training, Zhu Zhuqing had been eating much more recently, though her consumption was still less than a fiftieth of Dai Mubai's.
Dai Mubai's massive appetite left Zhu Zhuqing in awe.
Was this part of the reason Dai Mubai's strength was so monstrous?
"Don't worry—you won't get fat."
Dai Mubai chuckled as he ruffled her hair affectionately.
"I don't care!"
Zhu Zhuqing turned her head to the side, pretending not to mind.
"It's natural to eat more while you're growing. You need energy to train, after all."
"Do you think the buns, pickles, and porridge in the dining hall provide the nutrition you need?"
"Forget cultivating—they aren't even enough to sustain basic bodily functions."
Dai Mubai's tone was matter-of-fact.
Those "meals" offered so little nutrition that if he were cultivating the Indestructible Vajra Technique, he wouldn't even last through one full cycle before passing out from hunger.
The Six Styles techniques also required a tremendous amount of energy, both physical and spiritual.
His version of the Navy Six Styles was not identical to the original—it consumed soul power as well.
"Mm."
Zhu Zhuqing nodded. The food in the dining hall was only good for filling an empty stomach, but nothing more.
Dai Mubai sighed. Flender was truly stingy.
Each student had to pay ten gold soul coins to enroll, and another hundred gold soul coins in tuition every year.
The purchasing power of a single gold soul coin was enormous—roughly equivalent to ten thousand in currency.
And yet, all they got to eat was buns, pickles, and porridge?
Forget fancy meals—but at least improve the food a little!
Dai Mubai's frustration grew the more he thought about it.
Two gold soul coins could buy an entire cow!
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He muttered under his breath,
"Zhuqing, maybe we should just run away. Shrek Academy is way too poor!"
"There's no simulated training environment, which I can live with."
"But even for meals, we have to go out just to eat enough."
Zhu Zhuqing blinked, momentarily stunned. But then she nodded, saying softly,
"Mm. Wherever you go, I'll go too."
Her cheeks flushed red as she lowered her head, too embarrassed to look at Dai Mubai.
"Mubai! You can't have thoughts like that!"
Before Dai Mubai could respond, Flender couldn't take it anymore and jumped out of hiding.
He hadn't expected Dai Mubai to seriously consider running away just because of the food.
Hadn't he survived like this for three years already?
Then he glanced at Zhu Zhuqing, and suddenly it all clicked.
Ah, Dai Mubai's a good man. He just doesn't want Zhu Zhuqing to suffer.
What Flender didn't realize was that Dai Mubai had been aware of his presence the whole time—he'd only said that to mess with him.
