Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Flender, You’ve Really Screwed Me Over!
"Dai Mubai, go help Miss Ning pack her things and leave them at the academy gates!"
Flender suddenly turned to Dai Mubai, speaking as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Among everyone present, only Dai Mubai could afford to withstand the wrath of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
Surely the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect wouldn't stir up trouble with the Star Luo Empire over something so trivial, right? Right?
As for Tang San… well, Tang Hao might be watching from the shadows. If Flender dared to drag Tang San into this—
Hiss… Flender sucked in a sharp breath at the thought. Just recalling the sight of Zhao Wuji lying unconscious sent chills down his spine!
Dai Mubai: "..."
Good grief, Flender, are you trying to throw me under the bus here?
In the original story, had Dai Mubai considered the consequences of this situation? He wasn't sure, but now that he was aware, he definitely saw the problem!
If Ning Rongrong really left, Sword Douluo or Bone Douluo would likely show up at Shrek Academy. Who could possibly endure their wrath then?
Among everyone in the academy, aside from him, Dai Mubai, who else could afford to offend Ning Rongrong?
Tang San? Not a chance—Flender wouldn't dare mess with him while Tang Hao might be watching.
"Flender, Headmaster… You've truly screwed me over this time!" Dai Mubai thought bitterly.
He glanced at Ning Rongrong, who looked on the verge of tears. With a resigned sigh, he made up his mind.
"Alright, Headmaster!"
After saying this, Dai Mubai turned and walked off.
He already knew where Ning Rongrong's dorm was—she shared it with Zhu Zhuqing. He was often on the receiving end of Ning Rongrong's odd looks whenever he went to find Zhu Zhuqing.
Flender hadn't expected Dai Mubai to comply so quickly, without even trying to diffuse the situation!
"Dai Mubai, don't you dare!"
Ning Rongrong stomped her foot and shouted angrily at Dai Mubai's retreating back.
"The headmaster gave the order. If you have a problem, take it up with him. I'll help you pack your things!" Dai Mubai's voice floated back nonchalantly.
Flender: "..."
"You'd better not touch my stuff!"
Suddenly realizing the gravity of the situation, Ning Rongrong's face turned red. She hastily ran after Dai Mubai.
Flender and the others: "..."
"Teacher, are we really going to kick Ning Rongrong out?" Ma Hongjun asked, scratching his head in confusion. Sure, Ning Rongrong had a difficult personality, but she was pretty to look at. Keeping her around as eye candy wasn't the worst idea…
Flender was feeling pretty stubborn at this point. With a cold snort, he replied, "She can leave if she wants!"
"Ma Hongjun, go find Oscar and tell him to stop running. We're heading to Soto City. Oh, and tell Dai Mubai to comfort Ning Rongrong—forget about packing her things."
Flender's face turned a little red as he said this. He finally relented. If he really kicked Ning Rongrong out and Sword Douluo or Bone Douluo showed up… well, that would be the end of him.
So, for the sake of self-preservation, Flender swallowed his pride.
Ma Hongjun grinned silently and hurried off.
Tang San, Xiao Wu, and the others were baffled.
Zhu Zhuqing blinked in confusion, clearly puzzled by the change. She looked at Flender and asked quietly, "Headmaster, why did you send Mubai to comfort Ning Rongrong? They don't even get along."
Flender froze for a moment. Right… I completely forgot about that.
He knew exactly what Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing's relationship was. In all honesty, Flender hadn't thought it through—he'd only considered that Dai Mubai had experience with girls and was nearby.
Dai Mubai (in his head): Old man, you've completely sold me out!
But Flender's sharp mind kicked in. Adjusting his glasses, he said, "You may all one day become comrades who share life and death together. Precisely because they don't get along, it's important for Dai Mubai to learn to bridge that gap."
Zhu Zhuqing blinked, momentarily stunned.
Even Tang San and the others couldn't refute the logic.
"Comrades who share life and death…" Tang San muttered to himself.
In his past life as an outer disciple of the Tang Sect, he had no comrades.
After stealing the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record and being hunted down, he became even more isolated.
In this life… well, so far, aside from Xiao Wu…
Meanwhile, Ma Hongjun found Oscar and relayed the message to stop running and head to the academy gates. Then, he ran off toward the girls' dormitory.
Dai Mubai's speed was leagues beyond Ning Rongrong's. Shrek Academy wasn't that big, but it wasn't small either. Ning Rongrong still needed at least another minute to reach the dorm.
Dai Mubai, however, had already arrived. He gently pushed at the dorm door, only to find it locked.
"Hmm?"
The door didn't budge. Well, well—it's locked.
"Maybe I should just bust it open. Once Zhuqing moves into my place, problem solved." Dai Mubai muttered to himself.
"You really are up to no good! So eager to pack my things—you just want an excuse to sneak in here at night to find Zhu Zhuqing!"
Panting for breath, Ning Rongrong appeared, glaring daggers at Dai Mubai.
Thankfully, she had made it in time! If this guy saw… those things… how could she ever show her face again?
Unbeknownst to her, she'd just shattered all her previous running records.
Dai Mubai blinked, slightly taken aback. I underestimated her speed.
"Hand me the key. I'll help you pack," Dai Mubai said, extending his hand.
"You're that eager to see me gone?"
"Of course! Once you're gone, I can—" Dai Mubai paused, leaving the sentence hanging. She should get the hint.
"Forget it! If you want me to leave, then I'm staying! I'll share this dorm with Zhu Zhuqing just to spite you!"
If someone else was unhappy, then Ning Rongrong was happy—especially if it was Dai Mubai, who had never spoken a kind word to her.
"This doesn't bother me at all. If you won't move, I'll just take Zhuqing with me."
Dai Mubai shrugged indifferently, leaving Ning Rongrong momentarily speechless.
Why does that sound so reasonable?!
"Boss Dai! Boss Dai!" Ma Hongjun's voice echoed as he arrived. "Headmaster said you don't need to pack Ning Rongrong's things anymore. He wants you to comfort her instead!"
With that, Ma Hongjun ran off as quickly as he'd come.
Dai Mubai stood frozen in place.
What? I'm supposed to comfort Ning Rongrong now? Where's Oscar?! What is he doing?!
He and Ning Rongrong were like oil and water—they simply didn't mix. How was he supposed to comfort her?!
"Hmph! Did you hear that? That four-eyed Headmaster told you to comfort me!" Ning Rongrong said smugly, hands on her hips.
See? Flender wouldn't dare kick her out.
Dai Mubai: …
"Fine. Open the door, and I'll… comfort you properly."
