Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Venturing Out for Experience
After Qian Daoliu left, Ye Xi turned her gaze to Tian Yao.
"Tian Yao sister, please go back and pack your things first. Once you're ready, Elder Ling Yuan and I will wait for you at the entrance of the Pope's Hall."
"Elder Ling Yuan, let's head to the Pope's Hall first," Ye Xi said, leading the elder as Tian Yao returned to her quarters to prepare.
Walking along the cobblestone path, Ye Xi and Ling Yuan didn't go to the main hall of the Pope's Hall, but to the rear chambers instead. The main hall was usually for discussions, while the rear chambers were where Pope Bibi Dong handled official affairs.
Standing before the door of Bibi Dong's office, Ye Xi knocked.
"Your Holiness the Pope," she called softly.
"Come in," came the voice from inside.
Ye Xi pushed the door open to find Bibi Dong bent over paperwork.
"Second Miss, what brings you to the Pope's Hall today?" Bibi Dong asked, continuing her work.
"Your Holiness, I've come to request someone. This is the Angel's Token," Ye Xi said, holding up the token and shaking it lightly.
"Hm," Bibi Dong glanced briefly at the token but said nothing further. "Who does the Second Miss want?"
"Yang Wushuang," Ye Xi answered decisively.
"Hm, the Second Miss can go find him directly," Bibi Dong waved her hand dismissively.
"Alright, I'll be on my way then," Ye Xi replied and left the room to look for Yang Wushuang.
After Ye Xi departed, Bibi Dong quietly watched her leave before returning to her paperwork.
Ye Xi found Yang Wushuang within the Pope's Hall and explained the situation.
"Second Miss, what do you need me to do?" Yang Wushuang asked, bowing slightly, a bit puzzled. In the vast Martial Soul Hall, there were many stronger than him, so he didn't understand why she specifically wanted him.
"Prepare a carriage. But the carriage must not bear the Martial Soul Hall's insignia," Ye Xi said firmly.
"Understood, Second Miss," Yang Wushuang agreed and went to arrange it.
Meanwhile, Ye Xi and Elder Ling Yuan sat quietly by the Pope's Hall entrance waiting.
Soon, Yang Wushuang returned with the carriage, and Tian Yao arrived as well.
Ye Xi, Tian Yao, and Ling Yuan entered the carriage cabin.
Yang Wushuang looked at himself, then at the front of the carriage.
"A Martial Soul Douluo, and I'm going to be the coachman?" he muttered, glancing at the three inside.
Ye Xi, granddaughter of the Grand Offering and the Second Miss of the Offering Hall.
Tian Yao, granddaughter of the Second Offering, whose status was even higher than Yang's.
Ling Yuan, elder of the Elder Hall, higher rank than Yang and a titled Douluo.
"Second Miss, where are we headed?" Yang Wushuang sat up front, taking on the coachman's role.
"To Tiandou Empire's capital: Tiandou City," Ye Xi's voice came from inside.
"Understood, Second Miss," Yang Wushuang responded and drove the carriage forward.
Inside the carriage, Ye Xi, Tian Yao, and Ling Yuan relaxed on soft cushions, watching the scenery pass by.
"Elder Ling Yuan, if you fought Poison Douluo, could you beat him?" Ye Xi asked curiously.
"Poison Douluo, Dugu Bo?" Ling Yuan considered. "I can definitely defeat Dugu Bo, but if he's determined to run, I can't stop him."
Ling Yuan answered confidently after a moment's thought. While other titled Douluos might pose a challenge, with her soul power at level 92, she wasn't outstanding among Douluos, but she was sure she could beat Dugu Bo, who was basically the weakest among them.
"That's good to hear," Ye Xi said, tapping the carriage wall thoughtfully, her blue eyes deep in thought.
"Second Miss, why suddenly ask that? Did Dugu Bo offend you before?" Ling Yuan asked gently.
"No," Ye Xi smiled faintly, a sharp glint in her eyes, a graceful curve on her lips. "Just curious."
Ling Yuan nodded lightly and didn't press further.
Tian Yao took out a delicately crafted box of pastries from her storage ring and placed it before Ye Xi.
"Second Miss, these pastries taste quite good. Would you like to try some?" Tian Yao smiled warmly.
"Sure, I'll try one," Ye Xi said, tasting a piece and her eyes brightened.
"Hm, these are really good," Ye Xi nodded approvingly.
"The things I remember usually taste good."
"Elder Ling Yuan, would you like to try some?" Tian Yao offered the box.
"No thanks, you and Second Miss enjoy them," Ling Yuan declined politely.
"All right then. Second Miss, this box is for you; I have another for myself," Tian Yao said, handing over the pastries and fetching another box from her storage ring.
Since Tian Yao had a big appetite, she always carried plenty of pastries in her storage ring, where time was frozen, so nothing would spoil.
"Thank you, Tian Yao sister," Ye Xi said as she began to enjoy the pastries leisurely.
Outside, Yang Wushuang, driving the carriage, felt like they'd forgotten he was even there. But he said nothing and quietly drove toward Tiandou City.
Tiandou City
Imperial Palace, Crown Prince's Mansion
Disguised as Xue Qinghe, Qian Renxue quietly studied the intelligence report before her. Behind her stood She Long and Ci Xue.
"Young master, the current situation seems a bit complicated," She Long said thoughtfully.
"It's fine, nothing serious," Qian Renxue replied. "No actions for now; let's observe and wait."
She put down the report and gazed through the window toward the residence of Prince Xue Xing.
