Douluo: The Mysterious System

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Be Steady with Your Moves

After finishing the meal with Tang San and helping him buy bedding and supplies, Wang Xiaotian accompanied him to the work-study dormitory and then left.

As expected, there would probably be a scuffle in the work-study dorm soon to determine who was boss, followed by the entrance of "Sister Xiao Wu," who'd end up sharing a bed with Tang San.

So Wang Xiaotian had no plans to stick around. He was committed to his goal of not interfering with the plot for 100 years.

He just needed to stay near the main storyline and piggyback his way to godhood, and that would be enough.

Now it was time to focus on the mission.

He had six months to earn 1,000 gold soul coins and own a business this was forcing him to act on the business opportunity he had previously considered:

Cooking.

On the Douluo Continent, the most profitable business was anything related to soul masters, but Wang Xiaotian didn't want to get into that just yet.

First, his strength wasn't high enough to protect such an enterprise.

Second, he honestly couldn't think of anything he'd be good at that would be popular in the soul master world.

Soul devices?

Forget it. He didn't understand that stuff at all.

So for now, the fastest and safest way to make money that wouldn't draw too much attention was the food business cooking!

He had just discovered that Douluo Continent had peanuts, which was exactly why he chose stir-frying. Peanuts could be pressed into oil, and oil was the key to stir-frying!

He believed once stir-fried dishes launched, they'd be a huge hit.

Just look at how much foreigners loved Chinese stir-fry back on Earth.

The goal was set. Now all he needed was investment but right now, Wang Xiaotian was flat broke. Opening a restaurant would be very difficult.

So he needed a business partner. Preferably a rich one.

Looking around, the only "wealthy friend" he had was Xiao Yuchen.

Xiao Yuchen's father was the City Lord of Nuoding, and the Xiao family definitely had plenty of businesses there.

Since the mission timeline was tight, Wang Xiaotian wouldn't be leaving Nuoding City anytime soon, so opening the restaurant right here made the most sense.

Working with the Xiao family was a smart move at least it meant the restaurant wouldn't be suppressed locally.

Still, just to be safe, he needed to pull in one more backer. Besides the City Lord, the most powerful local force was the Spirit Hall.

So he'd have to rope in someone from there too.

Yes.... you're the one, the ever-reliable Brother Su Yuntao!

With his plan set, Wang Xiaotian quickened his pace back to the dorm. He needed to talk to Xiao Yuchen first.

After all, he was only ten years old. Talking business with the Xiao family might get him eaten alive. He'd need to wave a big name around to stand firm.

And right now, the biggest name he had was the Grandmaster.

The Grandmaster was already quite famous across the continent, and he was also affiliated with the Spirit Hall.

More importantly, he used to be known as part of the "Golden Iron Triangle," and he came from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan-one of the Top Three Sects!

Even though he had been expelled, that heritage still couldn't be erased.

Wang Xiaotian believed that with the Grandmaster's fame and background, it would be enough to intimidate even the City Lord of Nuoding.

Of course, he had no intention of actually telling the Grandmaster. At least not yet.

The Grandmaster was notoriously stubborn. If he found out Wang Xiaotian was doing something unrelated to cultivation, he would disapprove.

Sigh. This is exhausting.

Wang Xiaotian sighed.

Just trying to open a simple restaurant was this much hassle. What if he wanted to expand across the continent later? He'd probably drop dead from the stress.

Truthfully, Wang Xiaotian was only being this cautious because he was afraid.

He was, after all, just a Level-13 soul master. In this world, there were far too many people who could crush him like a bug.

He didn't know how big of a splash stir-fry would cause once launched, but it never hurt to be careful.

Not cowardly-just stable.

That's what he told himself.

"Boss Xiao, want to make some money?"

"Huh? What is it, Brother Wang?"

Xiao Yuchen looked confused. But every time Wang Xiaotian called him "Boss Xiao," it was never good-that much was certain.

"So many questions. I asked if you wanted to make money!"

Wang Xiaotian frowned as if he were about to lose patience.

"Y-Yes! Of course!"

Even though Xiao Yuchen wasn't short on money, his instincts told him that saying "no" would get him punched.

"Good. Money is like a man's kidney. With money, your spine is straighter. Got it?"

Wang Xiaotian smiled.

"Y-Yeah, got it!"

Xiao Yuchen had never heard that saying, but he wasn't dumb he knew better than to disagree.

"Here's the deal: I've got a business idea. Ask your dad about it…"

Wang Xiaotian went on to explain that he had a secret cooking technique, and guaranteed the food would be extremely popular.

He also mentioned that Su Yuntao from Spirit Hall would be involved and could vouch for the project.

Then, in a not-so-subtle way, he hinted at his powerful background:

Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan

The legendary Golden Iron Triangle

First disciple of Yu Xiaogang…

All of it was delivered in a way that left Xiao Yuchen dazed.

It was like the gold soul coins were already rolling in he just had to nod.

And the names Wang Xiaotian brought up were no joke, especially his teacher's background. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan was one of the top three sects. If they stomped their foot, the whole continent shook.

So Xiao Yuchen quickly agreed and promised to talk to his family that weekend.

In truth, Xiao Yuchen wasn't a bad person he was loyal and kept his word.

Judging from him, his father likely wasn't some evil villain either.

As for the Grandmaster's identity, Wang Xiaotian wasn't worried about it being investigated. Even if the Grandmaster had been kicked out of the clan, he was still way out of a local City Lord's league.

With Xiao Yuchen on board, Wang Xiaotian went to Nuoding City's Spirit Hall the next day to find good old Su Yuntao.

Same routine sell the dream, talk up the massive profits that cooking could bring, then drop the big names.

He mentioned the City Lord's Mansion and his teacher's background, and Su Yuntao agreed to cooperate.

However, Su Yuntao couldn't join the business as a Spirit Hall official, only in his capacity.

After all, the City Lord represented state authority, while Spirit Hall…

…well, that was its beast.

In any case, the titles didn't matter only the partnership did.

With these two men backing him, Wang Xiaotian's restaurant in Nuoding City and the surrounding towns would be unstoppable!

That's right he was going big.

He wanted to open franchises.

Once he met Ning Rongrong, Dai Mubai, and even the imperial family of the Heaven Dou Empire, and once his strength increased, he would expand across the continent!

If you're going to play, go big or go home.

Wang Xiaotian believed that if he didn't have any cards in his hand, he would never feel secure.

This was his setup for the future.

Commercial ventures didn't attract too much attention at first.

But once developed to a certain scale, they would become a formidable force.

This was his first strategic move and his first power card.

If played right, he would no longer be so easily manipulated by others.

Everything… just to survive better. Nothing more.
