At this moment, Torres was seated at the main throne within the grand hall. For the past few days, a growing sense of unease had weighed heavily on his heart.
"It's been days... Ever since Kuang Hu left that day, there has been no news. Could it be that Asura managed to escape?" Torres pondered with a grave expression.
"Kuang Hu is a Spirit Sage. No matter how fast Asura is, there's no way he could have gotten away."
"Besides, even if Asura did escape, it has nothing to do with me. I'm probably just overthinking things." Torres' expression flickered with uncertainty.
"Wang Ming!" Torres suddenly called out toward the entrance of the hall.
"Bishop, I am here!" Wang Ming appeared at the doorway and responded.
"I ordered you to investigate what happened that day. What did you find?" Torres asked in a deep voice.
"Reporting to the bishop, after several days of investigation, we discovered that Lord Kuang Hu encountered Asura at the Spirit Arena Hotel. He then led a group to besiege him, but Asura escaped through the back door. Due to his exceptional speed and the complex network of streets, he managed to flee through the southern gate. According to the city guards, Lord Kuang Hu chased him outside the city, activated his Martial Soul True Body, and engaged Asura in battle. As such, Asura is unlikely to have survived." Wang Ming reported with a slight bow.
"Alright, I understand." Torres waved his hand, dismissing Wang Ming, then muttered to himself, "Perhaps Kuang Hu has already captured Asura and returned to Balak City."
It wasn't surprising that Torres was feeling restless. A Spirit Master's sixth sense becomes increasingly sensitive as their spirit power strengthens.
As a Spirit Sage, the appearance of an ominous premonition meant that something was about to happen—something that involved him directly.
"Could Asura have managed to send out a message? I'll wait five more days." Wang Ming sighed to himself before withdrawing from the hall.
Meanwhile, Lin Yongming had arrived at the Spirit Hall in Soto City after half an hour of travel.
"Greetings, my lords. May I ask who you are?" The guards at the Spirit Hall entrance quickly stepped forward upon seeing Lin Yongming and his group.
They recognized the banners of the headquarters and the imposing presence of Bibi Dong and her entourage.
The captain of the Black Wounds Squad stepped forward and presented a special decree. "By order of Her Holiness, the Supreme Pontiff, we are here to investigate the branch hall."
"Understood! Please, come in!" The guards hesitated for a moment before recognizing the insignia. These were members of the Supreme Pontiff's most elite force—the Judgement Squad.
However, the captain did not enter immediately. Instead, he turned to his teammates and issued orders.
"You, and you, come with me inside the hall to protect Her Highness. The rest of you, surround the building. No one is to leave through the back entrance until this matter is settled. Understood?"
"Yes, Captain!" the squad responded in unison.
Those stationed outside moved to seal off all exits, preventing any chance of escape.
"Saintess, do you have any additional instructions?" the captain asked Bibi Dong respectfully.
"Captain, your command experience is impressive. Let's proceed as planned."
"We're going in." With that, Bibi Dong ascended the steps leading to the grand doors.
Lin Yongming followed closely behind, while the ever-hidden Ghost Douluo had already positioned himself atop the Spirit Hall's roof, scanning the entire premises with his spiritual senses.
"Hmm? Who are these people? And Asura... Could it be that someone from headquarters has arrived? But why are there only a few of them?" Wang Ming muttered to himself upon seeing Lin Yongming among the group.
From their formidable presence alone, he deduced that they must be from the main branch of the Spirit Hall.
However, what puzzled him was their small numbers. "Perhaps they are exceptionally strong."
For now, Wang Ming remained silent and merely observed while maintaining a respectful posture.
"What's going on out there?" Inside the grand hall, Torres lifted his head upon hearing the commotion outside.
The next moment, seeing the approaching figures, his heart tightened in shock. "Why are members of the Judgement Squad here?!"
Torres did not recognize these individuals personally, but he was well aware of the significance of their distinctive black armor and engraved insignias.
As they stepped inside, the captain of the Black Wounds Squad was the first to enter. Upon seeing the nearly empty hall, he immediately confronted Torres.
"Are you Bishop Torres?"
Torres quickly stepped down from his seat and took a few steps forward. "I am Torres. On behalf of the entire Soto City Spirit Hall, I welcome the honored members of the Judgement Squad. Please forgive me for not greeting you sooner."
"Good." The captain nodded and stepped aside.
"Bishop Torres, my name is Bibi Dong." As the captain made way, Bibi Dong spoke directly.
Torres froze for a moment before realization struck him. His expression instantly turned respectful as he replied, "Oh! So it is the Saintess herself, gracing us with your presence."
With that, Torres immediately knelt on one knee in reverence.
"Why is Asura with the Saintess? Could it be... No, impossible... They couldn't know!" A wave of unease surged within Torres.
"Torres, as the bishop of this branch, you should have three assistants. Where are they?" Bibi Dong's voice carried an authoritative edge.
"Is there something urgent that requires their presence, Your Highness? I will summon them at once." Torres stood up and prepared to exit, but the Black Wounds Squad captain blocked his path with an outstretched hand.
"No need for you to go personally. Let your subordinates handle it. You will come with me to the meeting room." Bibi Dong ordered.
"Yes, yes, of course." Torres nodded repeatedly. "Wang Ming, summon the three deputy bishops to the meeting room immediately."
At the doorway, Wang Ming appeared and responded, "Understood, Bishop."
Hearing Wang Ming's name, Bibi Dong glanced at him briefly. After all, it was he who had provided the information for this investigation. His face, disfigured by severe burns, made him easily recognizable.
Bibi Dong then led the way toward the meeting room.
Under the watchful eyes of the Judgement Squad captain, Torres had no choice but to follow. Lin Yongming trailed behind them.
The meeting room was about fifty square meters, with a long table at the center, a small flag placed on top, and nine chairs arranged around it.
Bibi Dong sat at the head of the table, while Lin Yongming and the Judgement Squad captain stood beside her. Torres stood before them, with two more squad members stationed at the door.
A heavy silence filled the room. Bibi Dong sat in her chair without speaking, and Torres dared not break the silence. The tension grew palpable.
Lin Yongming noted that Ghost Douluo had positioned himself outside the window, using his spiritual power to survey the room.
After ten minutes, voices echoed from outside.
"Wang Ming, where is Bishop Torres?"
"Yeah, it's still early. Why are we being summoned so urgently?"
"I don't know. The bishop is likely in the meeting room."
Moments later, three figures arrived at the door and visibly hesitated upon seeing the guards.
As the three deputies entered, the Judgement Squad members closed the doors and stood guard.
"Greetings, Bishop Torres!"
"You should be addressing Her Highness the Saintess!" Torres reminded them urgently.
"We pay our respects to Her Highness, the Saintess!" The three men quickly dropped to one knee in reverence.
