Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Daily Training
Chapter 76: Daily Training
After his recent cross-level fight at the arena, Yang Potian decided to stop going to the Great Spirit Arena, finding little challenge there. Even when facing a Soul Ancestor opponent, the difficulty had been minimal. Against the Diamond Mammoth Spirit user, for example, Yang Potian had felt little pressure throughout the match; despite the mammoth's powerful defenses, it was slow, making it an easy target. For Yang Potian, fighting such opponents wasn't nearly as demanding as his weighted obstacle course training.
Meanwhile, Dugu Yan had recently broken through to level 30 and left with her grandfather to obtain a new spirit ring, becoming the second Soul Elder on their team. Other members of the group, though inspired, were also somewhat intimidated by Yang Potian's strength after seeing his performance. Yang Potian had informed them that he planned to test them in actual combat scenarios regularly. Currently, only Yang Ping'an and Dugu Yan were eligible to participate in the Spirit Arena fights, while Ye Lingling's assistance proved ineffective against stronger opponents unless she was paired with Yang Potian.
Thus, their days passed in intense, monotonous training. Dugu Yan, full of excitement after her breakthrough, went to the Spirit Arena with Yang Ping'an under Teacher Li Xiang's guidance. But after experiencing several back-to-back defeats, her confidence dwindled.
One afternoon, Prince Xue Qinghe visited the Heavenly Dou Royal Academy along with Ning Fengzhi, Sword Douluo, and Ning Rongrong.
At the main administrative building, Prince Xue Qinghe immediately asked the three directors, "Where is Yang Potian now? I noticed he hasn't been going to the Great Spirit Arena recently."
Director Meng Shenji replied, "Your Highness, Yang Potian's team currently has only two members attending the Spirit Arena regularly. The rest are focused on daily training."
"His team?" Xue Qinghe inquired. "So he's already gathered the participants for the next Soul Master Tournament?"
"Yes, the team now consists of seven members."
"Who are the other six?" Xue Qinghe asked. "What are their strengths that made Yang Potian choose them?"
Director Meng glanced briefly at Ning Fengzhi and his companions before responding, "The team includes Yang Potian and Yang Ping'an from the Broken Clan, Dugu Yan, the granddaughter of Poison Douluo, Ye Lingling of the Nine Heart Begonia Spirit, and the direct heirs of the four single-attribute clans: Tai Long of the Strength Clan, Niu Meng of the Defense Clan, and Bai Xiaofei of the Speed Clan."
Xue Qinghe thought for a moment, "Strong attack, agility, support, and control—they've assembled a balanced lineup. Though some members still lack sufficient spirit power."
The others in the room quickly deduced that these team members had personal ties with Yang Potian, including the representatives of the four single-attribute clans. Without those connections, it was unlikely Yang Potian would have chosen members with lower spirit levels.
"Director Meng," Xue Qinghe continued, "are the seven of them currently meditating in their training environments?"
"According to their schedule, they'll be training at Field Three right now."
Teacher Li Xiang routinely reported the team's schedule and training details to the academy's directors, so Director Meng was well-informed.
Intrigued, Xue Qinghe said, "If that's the case, let's go take a look at the progress of their training."
Director Meng hesitated briefly, then nodded, leading the group to Training Field Three. Normally, observing student training sessions wasn't allowed—especially for outsiders. But with the prince present, and considering the academy's investment in Yang Potian's team, there was little reason to object.
When they arrived at the training ground, they were astonished.
Before them, the team members were heavily weighted and running through the obstacle course with determined expressions. The training field, once a standard layout, had been thoroughly transformed into something resembling an outdoor military drill ground. Pits, high walls, and various obstacles littered the area.
Nearby, Li Xiang and a female teacher supervised the entire process.
Due to the intensity of the training, which often left the participants exhausted to the point of collapse, the directors had assigned a female healing spirit master to assist. Given the inclusion of two young women on the team, they wanted to ensure safety and propriety. This additional instructor, Teacher Anya, was a 51st-level healing-type Spirit King with a Healing Staff spirit.
Seeing the directors and their esteemed guests approach, Teacher Li Xiang hurried over to greet them, while Teacher Anya remained attentive to the students.
Xue Qinghe, curious, asked, "Teacher Li Xiang, do they train like this every afternoon? Could you tell us more about their training program?"
Li Xiang glanced at the directors, and with Director Meng's nod of approval, he replied, "Yes, Your Highness, they follow this regimen daily. They each carry an average weight of thirty kilograms, with Yang Potian himself running nearly sixty kilometers daily, while the others aim for about fifteen. They continue running until they're completely exhausted."
"Do they follow this schedule every day? How are they able to handle such intensity?" Xue Qinghe asked in surprise.
"Your Highness, this routine has been in place for over three months. They rest one day each week and have five-day breaks every three months."
Xue Qinghe swallowed nervously. Could he withstand this level of training himself?
Meanwhile, Ning Fengzhi, who had initially planned to enroll Ning Rongrong in the academy, quickly reconsidered. Watching Yang Potian's training methods, he couldn't imagine his beloved daughter enduring such a regimen. Initially, he had assumed Yang Potian's abilities were the product of raw talent, but it was now clear he was more than that—more like an unyielding force driven by sheer discipline.
Ning Rongrong, on the other hand, was intrigued. "Dad, aren't spirit masters supposed to focus on meditation? Why are they training so intensely?"
"For battle spirit masters, having a resilient body is key to wielding greater power in combat," Ning Fengzhi explained. As a renowned support spirit master, he was well-versed in the importance of physical endurance for combat-focused spirit masters.
Sword Douluo observed the team's progress approvingly. "This regimen is impressive. It will certainly enhance their physical abilities."
As a Titled Douluo, he could see the purpose behind the grueling obstacle training at a glance.
Noticing Xue Qinghe's puzzled expression, Sword Douluo explained, "High-intensity weighted training like this refines every aspect of the body. With consistent practice, it will increase their strength, speed, and agility. Whoever devised this regimen deserves credit."
