Chapter 74: Soul Elder Defeats Soul Ancestor

Amidst the excited clamor, Yang Potian and his opponent both stepped onto the arena stage.

At first glance, Yang Potian couldn't help but be taken aback at the sight of his opponent. The man standing across from him was a towering figure, at least 2.3 meters tall, if not more. His physique was immense, weighing an estimated 300 to 400 pounds, wearing only combat shorts and exposing his body like a mountain of muscle. As expected of a disciple from the Elephant Armor Clan, specializing in defense—his build was truly remarkable. Surprisingly, he wasn't wearing a mask.

After a brief introduction by the announcer, a giant screen overhead displayed their profiles, along with footage from their previous battles. As the audience observed the stark height difference, many seemed relieved to have bet on Unyielding Mammoth's victory. At just 1.7 meters, Yang Potian appeared like a child facing a fully grown adult, with a massive contrast in height and physique.

After presenting the two fighters, the announcer addressed them, "You have one minute to prepare and summon your martial spirits. The match will begin in one minute."

Yang Potian summoned his Soul-Breaking Spear, and two yellow and one purple soul rings appeared around him. Across the stage, his opponent summoned a gigantic Diamond Mammoth spirit, over five meters tall, accompanied by two yellow and two purple rings.

With that, the announcer declared, "Preparations complete—let the battle begin!"

This time, Yang Potian didn't rush to attack. Instead, he held his position, waiting for his opponent to make the first move. Meanwhile, Unyielding Mammoth charged forward with thunderous steps, each one shaking the ground beneath him.

As the two fighters closed in, Unyielding Mammoth unleashed a heavy punch aimed straight at Yang Potian. However, his attack speed was slow, and Yang Potian sidestepped it effortlessly.

Seeing his first attack miss, Unyielding Mammoth launched a series of powerful punches, but none connected with Yang Potian. Watching his opponent grow visibly agitated, Yang Potian seized an opportunity. Just as Unyielding Mammoth wound up for another punch, Yang Potian struck forward with his Soul-Breaking Spear.

The spear collided with Unyielding Mammoth's fist, causing Yang Potian to step back, but leaving a gash on his opponent's left hand. Unyielding Mammoth didn't budge an inch.

"Impressive strength," Yang Potian remarked, a hint of determination flashing in his eyes. "If it's power you want, I'll show you real power."

Gripping his spear with both hands, Yang Potian advanced, meeting Unyielding Mammoth's assault head-on with a move called "Overlord Lifts the Cauldron." Their weapons clashed, and this time, both stepped back. However, another gash appeared on Unyielding Mammoth's hand, deeper than the last.

Enraged, Unyielding Mammoth activated his first soul skill: Crushing Pressure. Yang Potian felt a tremendous force pressing down on him, heavier than his opponent's own body weight—over 500 pounds. While this pressure would have been overwhelming for most, it was nothing extraordinary for Yang Potian.

Feigning fatigue under the weight, Yang Potian lured his opponent closer. At the perfect moment, he leaped into the air, dodging the attack, and then executed White Crane Spreads Its Wings, thrusting his spear into his opponent's right shoulder.

Blood streamed from Unyielding Mammoth's shoulder, and he roared, "You can withstand my Crushing Pressure?"

Without responding, Yang Potian swiftly gathered power into his spear, launching a blinding spear arc at his opponent. Though Unyielding Mammoth managed to raise his spirit to block, another wound opened up, bleeding freely.

Noting his opponent's mounting injuries, Yang Potian followed up with Yellow Dragon Strikes, targeting Unyielding Mammoth's weak points. Sensing the danger, Unyielding Mammoth activated his third soul skill, Iron Wall. The Diamond Mammoth spirit projected a solid iron-like shield in front of Yang Potian's spear, causing sparks to fly as metal clashed with metal.

This time, Yang Potian was forced back three steps, while Unyielding Mammoth only stepped back once.

"Not bad," Yang Potian sneered. "The Diamond Mammoth may claim to be the strongest defense spirit, but let's see how many hits it can take."

Without further delay, he resumed his assault, thrusting the Soul-Breaking Spear at Unyielding Mammoth's defenses. His opponent's spirit kept blocking, though barely, as the crowd roared in excitement.

In the VIP section, the guests exchanged glances, their expressions shifting as the fight went on. To see the White Horse Silver Spear continue to inflict injuries without using any soul skills was astonishing, especially when Unyielding Mammoth had already used two skills in his desperate defense.

On the stage, it was an intense battle of offense versus defense. Yang Potian's nimble footwork and unexpected spear strikes repeatedly broke through Unyielding Mammoth's guard. Meanwhile, Unyielding Mammoth tried to withstand the attacks, relying on his formidable defense. It was a grueling back-and-forth.

Recognizing his disadvantage, Unyielding Mammoth decided to turn the tide. As Yang Potian advanced, his opponent's fourth soul ring lit up, activating Mammoth's Might. His body visibly swelled, muscles bulging in a clear display of enhanced power.

Instead of evading, Yang Potian met the attack head-on, allowing his spear to collide with Unyielding Mammoth's fist. At the last second, Yang Potian shifted his weight, using his opponent's force to pivot backward and counter with Looking Back at the Moon, piercing deeply into his opponent's right shoulder.

Spectators with trained eyes realized then that the match was over; it was clear that the White Horse Silver Spear would claim victory.

Yet Unyielding Mammoth refused to concede. Gritting his teeth, he seized Yang Potian's spear with one hand, ignoring the pain, while his other fist aimed a heavy blow at Yang Potian.

"Courting death, are you?" Yang Potian scoffed, his first soul ring illuminating. His soul skill, Mighty Strength, granted a 50% boost in his physical power and doubled the force of his spear. With a blood-curdling scream, Unyielding Mammoth's right shoulder was pierced clean through by the Soul-Breaking Spear.

Yang Potian followed up immediately with Sweeping Thousands, a wide, sweeping strike that sent his opponent hurtling off the stage, bloodied and severely wounded.

For a moment, the arena was silent, then erupted in wild cheers. This was a rare, extraordinary match, a historic sight: a Soul Elder defeating a Soul Ancestor.

The announcer's voice rang out over the cheers, "The match is over! Unyielding Mammoth has been thrown from the stage—White Horse Silver Spear is victorious!"

The crowd erupted once more, and Yang Potian, without ceremony, dismissed his Soul-Breaking Spear and left the stage.
